    1st. Not often do we see a Dillards in an old Sears pad? It is even more amazing that they left the stone front up.

      They did the same thing at Richland Mall in Waco. It is so weird for those of us who remember Sears.

    I love killeen. I came here with a highschool diploma and now im a texas teacher and a homeowner. Its like any place, theres nice areas and bad areas. A lot of it is just old and a bit crumby, but that is juxtaposes with beautiful views and nice neighborhoods. I met my husband here. Soldiers hate it because they are stationed here and are forced to be here. But if its your choice, its actually really nice. You have everything you need.

    I'm a native K-Towner and it's not terrible. After staying here awhile, people realize the small city's nature is what makes it great. This isn't Austin, but that's what I like about it. I can also vouch for the superiority of the Chinese food there. There's nothing like it. Although the Mall itself isn't the best, it certainly has its charms. Still, I miss the old vintage look. Thanks for showing Killeen some love!

    I lived in and grew up in Killeen from 2003 all the way to 2009 or 2010. I've been to the Killeen Mall a couple of times when living there, and a few more times when I had the chance to visit. Killeen itself isn't the best place to live, but it's definitely not the worst either. Every city and town has its ups and down living there and Killeen is not an exception. It is nice to know that Killeen is still expanding in population, and that the mall is still kicking.

    As a Dutch girl enjoying your videos I wonder why there are massage chairs in almost every mall. I immediately think about the hygiene of the chairs because so many people supposed to sit on it 😅. And carpet on the floor is also such kind of thing

    • @ms.zelman3032
      @ms.zelman3032 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes, you're right. There are so many massage chairs in malls in the U.S. I also think that it's pretty hygienic to use, since people who are not homeless wash their clothes and their body and their hair. Also I never see videos where carpets get washed in the mall, but I'm pretty sure they obviously do get washed, like probably when the mall is closed or like an hour before the mall opens. 😊

      I used to work in this mall as a housekeeper and I don't know about now but back in the '80s no '90s sorry when I worked there We had to clean those massage chairs when they first put them in and they were sanitized by us because we had a spray that we sprayed all over the chair front back where you sit your bottom everywhere and we had to wipe them with special wipes. I personally do not get how this mall is still in business because a lot of the stores don't rent it have gone out of business people that used to hang out in this mall all the time used to be packed The people that used to go to this mall don't go there anymore I'm one of them. I will say that the only store at the moment that I like to go to in there is Burlington even the food court sucks now they don't have any good places to eat there used to be a Wendy's in there and it was pretty good and the church is chicken I heard because they were moderately priced that's why they didn't last because the mall wants too much rent they couldn't afford to pay it and they opted out. Also I've been to the Richland Mall and it's not good The Killeen Mall it's bigger than the Killeen Mall but the Killeen Mall is better I don't live in Killeen I live in a smaller town close to there but I wouldn't live in Killeen for all the money in the world because of all the crime!

    The Mega Furniture store already closed, but they're getting a trio of discount stores - HomeGoods, TJ Maxx, and Marshalls. Some rough neighborhoods near the mall, but hope it stays in business. I'm on the far south side of Harker Heights, but it just has strip centers; though, generally nicer further south in Harker Heights or southeast Killeen near the Harker Heights border with less crime, nice parks, and better schools. Killeen-Temple is now the 7th largest metro in Texas behind El Paso and McAllen at around 500k people, so it seems like there should be more local investment.

    We go to Waco a lot, but we have only been through Kileen/Temple a couple of times. There is nothing down there besides the military bases and warehouses. Not much down there for the average person to enjoy. Waco is a really nice city that has recently attracted a lot of downtown development. Richland Mall is healthy, and their business corridors continue to grow and evolve.
    As a resident of Houston, we currently have the second largest population growth, so we must be doing something right. It is all about the jobs down here. If you want to see beauty, you need to drive out of town to the piney woods and lakes or down to the beach. Beaumont does suck though. Significant population loss and just a depressing feeling all around town.

    • @BoratWanksta
      @BoratWanksta 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I don't know why doomie said Houston was bad. As far as I know from what I've researched, Houston is doing fine economically. Also besides Beaumont, Port Arthur is struggling a lot as well. I am VERY surprised he didn't mention the economic struggles of Port Arthur, besides Beaumont.

    • @jeee1074
      @jeee1074 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @BoratWanksta Port Arthur is definitely a dead city. Comparable to rust belt cities, in my opinion. I visited Port Arthur multiple times, including in December of last year. Houston is pretty ugly in comparison to the rest of Texas, but you can make really good money fairly easy here. Unfortunately, the secret is out, and we are getting even more crowded.

    Killeen native here, people tend tp overexagerate how bad killeen is. I prefer it over Waco. Killeen definently has its problems but it has much to offer and is growing at a fast pace. It is also getting a Dave and Busters next year so we are excited for that

    • @Zeeangelofdeath
      @Zeeangelofdeath 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Are you serious, Killeen is a literal dump.
      There isn’t a week that goes by that there isn’t a murder. Down town is littered with homeless roaming around. Killeen looks like a town stuck in the 80’s. Killeen is however a cultural melting pot, however most of these people are from ghetto around the world so it makes sense why it’s the way it is.
      But what Killeen does offer is car washes, there’s probably as many cars washes as there are corners stores. I’m from neither place, but I will go out of my way and go to Waco than go to Killeen. There is a reason Killeen has the reputation it has.

    When I moved from Clackamas Oregon to Killeen Tx and visited that mall I was grossly disappointed by the size and style. I went from something really cool and always busy to dead and no where to shop.
    I worked very briefly there, like a month, rude people all over the place coming and going, helped in apprehending some shoplifters, one of them was a gal who was going full blast and almost made it to the middle school across the street before a cop tackled her.
    And I wanna say 2 years maybe not even t hat later was the shooting. So from what I knew, this blonde hair guy walked into the store and just unloaded on the guy at the counter and walked off like nothing happened, think it was a shoe store. The last I heard was the guy was never caught and the guy who was shot said he had no idea who he was.
    But Killeen is full of gang activities and drug problems, so who knows if that was really true or not.
