I didn't get a look at how your power goes into your TV, but my Insignia TV has a separate barrel connector power cord that plugs into the back. A little research showed it was 12 volt input. Rather than plug the brick into an inverter (changing 12vdc to 120vac to 12vdc) I found a 12vdc cable to go straight into my TV. Uses less battery than the inverter. Shopped for a blue ray player that I could do the same with....no need for an inverter for tv/blue ray enjoyment.
There are so many options available. I just kept it like it was. I didn't have the tv on all the time, only when I wanted to watch a movie or during my thirty four hour reset. I turned my inverter off when I wasn't watching tv.
Question for you. The 12volt outlet in my VNL780 has no power. Volvo says there is a switch for it but I can't find it. Does your outlet have a switch?
What’s up bruh. Check your fuses. If they’re blown or the wrong size, the outlets (12v) won’t work. Just replace them. Hopefully this will fix your problem. If these are outlets like you have at home, they should be running back to your inverter so whenever your power on your inverter it powers your outlets in the truck. I have two in my truck. Get a plastic fuse puller. Good luck
I think it comes standard in all 2015 and newer Volvo VNL trucks. As for the back plate, I took it off the back of the tv mount so I could screw it to my tv. It's easier to install if you do it that way.
None of the cigarette lighter thingies work in the back of the truck any ideas? It's a 2020 Volvo semi. Similar setup to the one in the video. Not sure what to do nor where to begin troubleshooting 😕
Hi Ms. S. On the top middle of your dashboard where you site stuff, under that are your fuses. If it’s no longer there, it’s on the driver side, down by the brakes. Remove the fuse cover and look at the label. It will say 12 volt bunk or rear 12 volt. The fuses are blown and need to be replaced with the same fuse. This should solve your problem. Take care and be safe.
@@TattleKlatch thank you soooo much trying these steps now 🙏🏽😊 Def need it NJ was just shut down yesterday and I'm headed that way as we type😅. You be safe as well.
What's up Willie Dee? Curious. so, when you hook up the coax.....it's actually hooked up to an external antenna that comes in the volvo? my truck is equipped with the tv stand, too. Just curious what's on the other end of that coax! Thanks
The inverter you have is a 200 watt continuous. The 400 watt supply is only used when starting electric motors like a drill. They require more power just to start the motor and then the requirement drops way down. Warning: The inverter you purchased has a modified frequency. It is not to be used for electronics. Your TV will run fine on it for a few months and then die forever. You need to use a pure sine inverter for electronics. They are far more expensive than the trash you can buy for $20. It doesn't matter what wattage the inverter is, if you plug it into the accessory outlet, the most you'll get is about 75 watts. The inverter just can't pull enough amps through the tiny 14 gauge or smaller wires That's why the battery cables with far thicker wires were provided. Did a little experiment once. After using a watt-meter from a 12 volt outlet and seeing 75 watts maximum, I hooked up 4 - 12 volt plugs together with each plug going to a separate accessory outlet. Then I ran all four wires to a switch and then to the input of a 300 watt inverter. Used a switch because if you didn't and just plugged each plug into each outlet (one at a time), there would be a spark and that would blow the fuses. By using a switch, all four plugs would would engage at once with no spark. The result to this was I received the full 300 watts from the inverter! Again it has to be a pure sine wave for electronics. The cheap inverters are for things like fans, drills, etc. If you bought a 2000 watt cheap inverter at a truck stop and tried to run your microwave. It would come on, but it would hum loudly and after about 25 to 50 uses the microwave would die. I was a naval E-5 electrician's mate in Vietnam for 6 years and a commercial electrician outside. Plus I took a 4 year correspondence course with Cleveland Institute of Electronics for a First Class FCC License.
Look closely at my video. The easiest way to install a tv is take the back plate down just like I did. I recommend getting an unlimited data plan on your phone or a mifi from Verizon so you can connect to programs via the internet. If my video still don’t help, let me know what you need help with and I will try my best to help you
This video is the most helpful amongst all the other videos explaining how to install tv in a Volvo, bless you 🙏🏾
I agree I searched for 2hrs just to find Mr Willie's and it's exactly what I needed 🙏🏽

Thanks for this video. Was wondering what the green arrow was. Thanks for clarifying 🙂

Did you ever figure it out? If so please assit
I don't have the back plate that screw into the back of the tv. Where can I purchase one from?
I’m not sure. I would check out the dealership or look on eBay.

@a.j.3617 nope I'm in a freightliner now. Ebay but hard to find.

Hey bud, what size is that TV? N how big is the inverter u got
It’s a 22in tv. I think the inverter is a small 400 watt inverter from harbor freight
