      Ryan! I'm so glad you saw it too - and the shout out to you, for getting me into this bikeriding world. I can't tell you how much I appreciate your great videos and positive attitude!

    Nice work! I used to ride parts of this route back when I was a kid.

      It was cool to see local folks out on the trail - at one point, I chatted with a couple, and remarked how nice it must be to have the Katy nearby! I can't imagine biking it as a kid - I'd've been tempted to just keep going, a lot further than I should! Glad it brought back memories for you, though. :-)

      The colors were amazing! But once it started raining, I definitely would have preferred a bit warmer weather! 🙂

    Excellent video with very informative history/info, thanks. Couple of questions, I actually live in Lee’s Summit and have never seen the Amtrak train stop, how’d you get their attention to board? What’s the pedal from Kirkwood to trail head like…distance? Thanks again.

      Hey, glad you're enjoying the series! The Lee's Summit Amtrak station has a scheduled stop - there's no need to flag it down, fortunately! :-D But they certainly don't stop for long!
      I'd recommend getting tickets online, since there wasn't anyone present to sell in-person tickets at the tiny booth, either. I just showed the QR ticket to the conductor between Lee's Summit and the first stop.
      As for the Kirkwood-to-trailhead, that took longer than I'd expected. It's about 20 miles, mostly on protected bikeways, but with some road riding. I just plugged it into Komoot, and followed the directions there, but if you're looking for options, the Bike Katy Trail site has great directions. I think Komoot routed me along option 2: bikekatytrail.com/kirkwood.aspx

    Enjoyed your video and looking forward to the following chapter(s). The shot out to Van Duzer was Funny. Really enjoyed the extra information your shared such as the history of Mokane's name. Sometimes the volume of voice and music could be matched a bit closer. Keep pedaling sir.

    Nice videos and I love riding the Katy. Can you comment on some of your equipment used such as cameras and camping equipment. What did you use for the videos that turned 180?

    • @Raveler1
      @Raveler1  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks so much! I've listed the equipment I used in the video description, but that specific effect was made using a Samsung Gear 360 camera. The camera records in all directions (360 degrees), and using a plugin in DaVinci Resolve, I'm able to choose a portion of the recorded video to display. Using keyframes, you can even have the viewpoint move over time, which is how that spin-effect is created.
      What questions about the gear did you have? I go over most of it in my gear overview video (Katy Trail 0), but I'm happy to offer specific reviews, if you'd like!

    i know you aint doin that crazy stuff rayn van douzer does. that crap is so corny. oh i see your a big fan of douzer . i aint copying anything he does. i am my own man. i bike a lot but don't have the money to do all the trails he does. i have traveled alot. i have done many sections of the katy. have fun out there. you could not have picked a better time to do it.

    • @Raveler1
      @Raveler1  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It was definitely a beautiful time to ride the trail! But, as you'll see in the second part, the rains certainly were annoying. I enjoy Ryan's work - and his energy - it seemed like a good way to acknowledge one of the folks that got me excited to bike again!

      @@Raveler1 i can sure understand that. but i don't look to him as a motivator or an insparation. he has biked a lot of places no doubt, but i think behind all that video stuff hes a diffrent person. i do admire his hustle . he bikes for the pleasure just like we all do. but as a infantry grunt soldier i motavate my self. i dont look for others. i play my own game. good luck on the trail and be safe out there.

    我看完你的影片 知道你心愛的車子被偷了,我正想買你被偷的同樣的車子 也想買talon2 不知道你覺的我因該買那台好
    我比較喜歡騎著單車 四處走沒有走過的地方

    • @Raveler1

      Thank you for your comment!
      Yes, I am still sad that the bike I rode in these videos was stolen. I really liked it!
      The Talon and the Roam are very similar bikes - it looks like the Talon is slightly longer, so would likely have a more stable ride (as opposed to nimble). The Talon also has a slightly longer travel on the front suspension - 100mm vs. 63mm on the Roam.
      Truthfully, I think the Roam is already stable enough - it sometimes had trouble making extremely tight turns. But if you like to ride on very rough terrain, a hardtail like the talon might be better for you!
      Either way, if you can test ride them, you should! I chose the Roam after testing it, unlike my new bike. The new one turned out ok, but I might have bought a different size if I'd had a chance to test it first.
      Exploring new places is lots of fun - I hope you continue riding and find the right bike for you!
