Greg Gibson man. He is such a class motioner. Look at that excellent motioning skill to motion the A's trainer. That's what class umpires are made out of. No wonder the Dodgers were cheering in their dugout.

@@joepass1883 I know it's been two years, but he was referring to the famous clip from the Dodgers game where two players were doing the national anthem standoff and Greg Gibson finally motioned them to go to their respective dugouts. The Dodgers won that standoff, which is why they were cheering in their dugout, lol. This clip became famous when the MLB added it to the end of their videos.

The batter’s box does not need to change. The batter holding the bat needs to maintain both hands on the bat at all times. That should be a new rule. Once contact is made with the ball, then put the bat down.

Not trying to be insensitive, but I can honestly say that bat was barely moving. The batter had slowed the bat down as it came around and even he looked shocked at the catchers reaction. After reviewing the incident, he was rushed to the hospital, a CT scan revealed no bruise, no bumps, no nothing. A concussion exam was performed and everything was fine. @@Xplora213 agreed, catcher may have crowded the plate. No one mentioned anything about him being too close though, only comment was about getting him again. Again means he got him before. Batter may have moved back in the box, video never said. Umpire's job to decide that, but as to what caused it is left to conversation. Someone was out of position, maybe both.

Why don't all sport leagues do what the NFL does when someone goes down. You take a knee, the batter looked annoyed and unsympathetic. Everyone else just standing around looking clueless.

This may have happened also to Bill Wambsgamss SS for the miracle Boston Braves who beat the Philadelphia Atheletics in 1914 W.S.
However it may or may not have happened earlier in his career in May, 1909. What say you guys, could it have happened to Bill W. ? yes or no ?

Everyone here saying they won't let their kid play catcher for this reason or they refused to play catcher for this reason.. I played the position for years and will tell you that this is a rare occurrence. I cant really ever remember getting hit with a bat on a follow thru anywhere but in the mitt maybe.

When will MLB do something to penalize batters who do this?!🤬
Catchers get penalized when they interfere with the batter, it seems only fair that the reverse should happen!
