Really appreciate you took the time to explain all the penalty options for us, golf hackers, who don’t play perfect games where there would be nothing to edit😃
Thanks so much, Deborah. Be sure you check out my other shot scope editing video. My 10 top tips for X5 users should also help you with the device too! Happy to try and answer any question may have too when you start using it more!
@@AndysGolfBlog Thanks Andy just edited my first 2 rounds on new X5. I really would not have been able to do it without your excellent tutorials which are so informed and concise. I really think you have covered all aspects thoroughly. I’m not very tech savvy but you make it so easy to understand.
Aww thanks for the lovely comment. This is EXACTLY why I created these tutorials. You're a star, Deborah! I wish TH-cam had more nice people like you :)
Thanks Andy - played my 1st round using my new H4 and forgot to count some shots, needed to add lost balls and even an entire hole 😂. Great video, really well explained so thanks a million.
Hi Ian - thanks so much for the kind feedback about the video. Glad it was useful for you. There's also another tutorial for the desktop editor which is even easier to use to edit your round! Hope the H4 performed well for you!
Thanks so much for the nice comment, Stuart. I really appreciate you not only taking the time to view the video but to also leave such kind words. Shot Scope do usually share some of my videos via their mailing list, which is great, but as long as users manage to use the tools to edit, then I'm happy. If you want to learn how to edit using the desktop tool, check out this video here: th-cam.com/video/H9-AzPTVCDA/w-d-xo.html Cheers, Andy
Thanks so very much. This is EXACTLY the reason why I wanted to create this tutorial and the other videos on the Shot Scope products. I’m really glad you found it to be useful, and thanks for feeding that back!
Love it - thanks so much for the kind feedback and hope it was helpful. I thought the screen feed on the right would help make the recording a little bit clearer for viewers. Really hope it was worth watching!
Appreciate the kind words, Colm. Be sure to hit that subscribe butting if you’ve not already done so as I have plenty more Shot Scope videos in the pipeline! Cheers
Excellent tutorial Andy, I've always used my laptop for editing in the past but I may give this a go next time as it seems much easier than the previous version.
Yeah, it’s not too difficult to use in all honestly. I tend to edit my rounds using the app immediately after I play. I’ve gotten it down to a quick 10 mins or so, sometimes less. I like how it’s now a lot more consistent with the rest of the branding compared to the previous version and is another great step forward from Shot Scope.
Thanks so much for not only taking the time to watch the tutorial but to leave such a kind comment! Really glad you found it to be useful and be sure to subscribe to the channel as I have plenty more shot scope related videos due to come out soon! Thanks again!
was thinking of buying one of these so searched for a video to see if it would suit me , and thanks to your great video i will now purchase one and sub to your channel to
Amazing! Thanks so much Richard! Be sure to use the code 'ANDYSGOLF' if buying from Shot Scope to save some extra cash (Shot Scope website: bit.ly/3fQrIAo) Out of curiosity, which device are you thinking of buying?
Good stuff. The H4 is a great little piece of kit. I haven't got a full review video on here but do have a blog post with some images etc. that you might be interested in. www.andysgolfblog.co.uk/blog/2023/shot-scope-h4-handheld-review/ In truth, if you're looking to go for a a laser too, which I would strongly recommend, getting the PRO LX+ is worth it as they don't have to be used as one unit, but it's a cost saving measure if already going to buy a laser. I think my 15% voucher also works on the 2nd gen PRO LX, but I'm not sure it's a huge deal different to the 1st gen, tbh. That said, the PRO L2 which I do have a review for on YT might also be worth considering if you're looking for something a little cheaper. That's a good quality basic laser that does most of what the PRO LX does, but is just a little more entry level. Feel free to ask away about any of the Shot Scope devices as I own them all and I'm always more than happy to answer questions to make sure people can get the best devices for them.
@AndysGolfBlog thanks a lot I found your blog earlier and read the full review of the h4 that is wht took me to your you tube channel My only worry with the range finder is I wear glasses so need to make sure I can use before committing
Ahh that's great - hope the post was useful. It's quite lengthy but I like to try and cover all bases. Can't help you with the glasses thing I'm afraid as I don't wear glasses. What I would say is that Shot Scope offer a 30 day money back guarantee so if it's no good with glasses, you'll be able to return. Anyway, will leave it with you but please do let me know if you have any other questions.
Great video. Is there, or would it be possible to have a video explaining how to read all the stats and what they mean? Some stats are self explanatory but others are less so. Thanks.
Hi Barry. I’ve not got one but have had quite a few requests from shot scope users for one. Data isn’t my strongpoint so will have to give it some thought/research but will get something recorded and posted, for sure!
Terry - appreciate the kind words and glad you found it useful. Have got plenty more Shot Scope videos in the pipeline, so be sure to look out for them! I’ve also go another video on editing with the new desktop editor on my channel, so feel free to check that out if you’ve not already done so. Cheers
Thanks very much. No, shot scope don’t track handicap. It does allow you to enter your handicap when editing your round but I’ve never actually figured out why this is necessary to be honest as it doesn’t show anywhere when looking at your stats, or offer any additional benefit as far as I’m aware.
Hi Andy, great video thanks. I tried my new watch for the for the time yesterday. When editing my round I have accidently signed it off is there anyway to undo that and change a few more things?
Hey Kevin. Thank you - glad it helped. Sure, rounds can be re-edited at any point. If using the mobile app, just open the round up again by tapping on it within the 'Rounds' tab, click on the pencil (top-right) and choose Edit. You can then make changes and save. You might find it easier editing using the desktop version of the app. If you've not already view it, I also have a tutorial for that which can be found here: th-cam.com/video/H9-AzPTVCDA/w-d-xo.html Give me a shout if you have any other questions. Always more than happy to help folks out!
questions: 1) if u tee 1st shot into the water hazard, and u played the 2nd tee shot again. How would the watch detect which shot to record? 2) with all the drop ball, lost ball and provisional ball editing options in the apps, does it meant that i just have to play on the course as per normal without touching my watch during the game and only rem to edit all such failed shots when im back home? Hope u can advise. thanks for the great video! Liked! and subscribed!
Thanks for the comment, Richie. Personally, I much prefer to simply play golf on the course and edit any shots afterwards. This can be a bit more difficult if you’re playing a new course, one you’re not too familiar or if you’re memory is on the decline. The watch does, however, have options for every type of shot. In the instance you mentioned, before hitting your second ball off the tee you would go into the watch’s menu and select Lost Ball within the penalty menu. From the top of my head, I’m sure it then gives you the option to select ‘provisional’. You would then play your second shot and walk down to where you think your first ball went. The watch will allow you to activate a 3 minute timer to countdown whilst looking for your ball. At the end of the 3 mins, you can either select that you have found your ball or have lost it. If you mark it as found then when you make your next stroke it will automatically delete the provisional shot. If you don’t find your ball, it will mark this shot as your 4th. Hope that makes sense. I think I’ll produce some short videos explaining this kind of thing soon!
Doesn't really track as such, more gives you access to strokes gained data about your performances during a single round, over a number or rounds or specific time period.
Yup, as long as you have tracked some holes on the round then go back to the first hole and use the add shot option. Using that option should be explained in this video. You’ll just need to add all of the strokes up until and including the green. Hope this helps!
Any way to merge partial rounds, my X5 has switched off mid round twice now since newest firmware update, funnily enough on almost the very same hole, (the 10th and the walk from the 10th green to the 11th tee) , on restart I had to 'play golf' however when you sync rounds it has them as 2 separate rounds of 10 and 8 holes. Just wondered if you could merge to a single round, if not any plans to implement that option? The power button is also very sensitive, took it out of the Trolley bag to check it was fully charged prior to heading to the course and it was flat, had been charged to 100% the night before, can only assume the button had been pressed when it was in the case I keep it in, I'm thinking a 2 press option would be better, 1 to power up and one to confirm this action. GPS lockon is still hit and miss, sometimes need to cancel and try again, had GPS searching for 10 mins+ and no lockon. All with the latest firmware Thanks :)
Hi Mike, Interesting point about the power button. I suggested to shot scope a two button sequence for resetting a while ago - not sure where they got with looking into that. Re. Merging rounds - you’ll need to ask shot scope to do this for you. You could manually add all of the shots from the second round to the first but easier getting shot scope to do it for you. Finally, my gps fix has always been obtained in under 5 mins, but with the latest update, the 3 rounds I’ve played since have all connected with 1 min. Not sure why yours is taking longer than this but may be worth testing out a few more times or running by shot scope. Cheers
I'll be playing again today so will see how the GPS gets on, 1st tee and clubhouse is in a bit of deadspot even for mobiles so might just be that, thanks for the reply 😊
Yeah, there are lots of factors that can cause issues - even down to cloud coverage etc. Hope it goes well today and let us know how you get on, Mike. Cheers
Lockon took approx 7 minutes round before last, but within a minute last evening, so think it's a location issue more than anything else, however last evening the watch again stopped recording the game approx 100m from where it has done the same thing on 2 other occasions now, can't figure out why but I'm wondering if it hits a certain battery % and then stops recording, I then have to 'play golf' again to get it running and this of course gives you split rounds 😢
I'm pretty sure this is related to the known issue whereby the watch cuts off for some users and they end up with two rounds. Not something I've experience at all but I know Shot Scope has a fix coming very soon. Hopefully that firmware update will make this issue a thing of the past for you!
@@AndysGolfBlog Thanks Andy a couple of holes showed a discrepancy (a red box on the edit page which meant I could not sign it off ) between what was detected and the corrected score I had entered the only way I could find to get rid of the discrepancy was to adjust the manual score to equal the detected score this meant an incorrect score card.
I see...well, I think I do. Usually, if I see a discrepancy, I just adjust the shots using the editor so that they are correct in terms of my score and then I submit. Remember, the score that the watch is confirming against is the one you entered into the scorecard as you played, not the number of actual strokes recorded. Some users mistakingly assume that the watch has calculated how many strokes have been captured and then generated the scorecard from which to compare the edited rounds with.. when in actual fact, the scorecard that it compares your edited round with is simply the score you manually entered whilst playing. Does that make sense? Essentially, the key is always making sure that you edit your rounds and that the edited rounds are correct score-wise - not the scorecard it's trying to compare with. This is quite hard to explain so hopefully it makes sense!
Interesting. Hard to tell what’s going on without seeing your screen. I can only assume that a) it’s not properly saving it or b) it’s not viewing this as your first shot (e.g. not actually a fairway in regulation). Best to drop shot scope a message and I’m sure they’ll look at your round and advise (support@shotscope.com). Thanks
You’ll need to go into your account settings. Click on your profile > my account. You can change it within there. This should carry changes through to the editor and the stats. I’m not sure if you need to then do this within the app separately - presumably not. A quick log out and log back in might be required for the app. Anyways, hope it helps!
