first round of 2023 tomorrow, first round with Shot Scope. i was nervous about edits but the video was fantastic. It is still winter in midwest US so conditions won't be great and it is nice to know i can elect not to include them if every shot plugs...looking forward to some minor edits if my old man brain remembers just what trouble i got into. THANKS!!!
Thanks for the kind and positive feedback, Dave! Glad you enjoyed the video and hope that it will help you out for editing. As long as you stick to the guidance in the shot scope QuickStart guide/set up videos then you should be fine. It can also take a few rounds for the device to settle and start properly recording every shot. I also have a handy 10 things every shot scope v3 user video on my channel which will hopefully be useful, so be sure to check that out. I’d you’ve any questions about editing then drop a comment below and I’ll try to help! Cheers
Appreciate the comment, Andy, and glad it helped! There’s also a mobile editor tutorial on my channel if you want to take a look at that one too. Cheers
That’s good. You may notice that the first few rounds then it’ll likely improve. You’ll always need to edit as GPS devices are generally only accurate to a few yards so a few tweaks may be required but sounds like it worked well for you and easy enough to add those missing shots.
Yes, I like the new editor. Played 9 holes yesterday, and when I went to edit, found the new layout, and it was easier, even before watching this video, but this did clear up a couple of items for me. Thank you.
Great to hear your thoughts - thanks for sharing and for taking the time to watch the video. I think the new update is fairly intuitive and an improvement upon the last editor, but I do also understand (as an IT trainer by trade) that some users may find it difficult. Do you use the V3 or the H4?
Some excellent new features. The multi coloured clubs was a bug bear as I had added so many through the years. The active toggle simplifies the editing process so stats are attributed to the correct club/brand.
Totally agree. I used to find the colours really difficult to understand and distinguish between, and I, like yourself have lots of clubs in there. The active filter definitely makes it easier, especially if you’re testing clubs on the course. All in all I think the improvements are good. I always think it’s great to see a company constantly looking to develop their product, which shot scope seem to do very well.
Excellent tutorial. I use the V3 and have never used the Dashboard to Edit a round, always using the watch itself. This looks fairly easy, and it's helpful that my monitor screen is bigger than the watch. 😊
Thanks very much, Joe. Really appreciate the comment and the fact you found the video useful - that's why I created it. I think a lot of users would find editing using the web dashboard much easier than the app, but probably use the app seeing as it's required to upload the round from the device. I usually edit using the mobile app as soon as I've finished my round, but have it down to a 10 minute task. If I want to be really pedantic then I'll use the online dashboard like in this video. I guess it just comes down to personal preference but the bigger screen on your laptop/desktop does make it much easier. If you've not already done so, feel free to check out my other Shot Scope videos. I've got a few in my Shot Scope playlist including one giving you 10 top tips to get the most out of your V3! Cheers, Andy
The map area at the top of the editing page is too small. Width is fine but height could be much bigger. Hopefully SC will consider tweaking this part of the dashboard in a future update. Great video BTW Andy.😃
Thanks very much for the comment. I do agree about the sizing of the map in the editor and have noticed a few other users complaining about it not being big enough. I suspect this is probably a fairly simple fix for Shot Scope and may get changed in future updates. In general, though, I think the new editor is a huge improvement. What do you think of it?
@@AndysGolfBlog It's good. There were a few things that were different after the update, but your video explained it. 👍🏼 Love the H4 and the stats. Have the LX too.
totally agree with this. If a hole runs east west or west east its fine, but if its north south or vice versa (which 16 of the holes on my course are) as soon as you zoom in at all you lose the overall picture of the hole. Perhaps these holes could be rotated 90 degrees? Other than that it's an improvement
Maybe in a future update they can make that window resizable. While zoom helps I keep wanting to drag that window bigger when editing the putting strokes on the green. Otherwise I enjoy the update especially seeing the beginning distance of a shot. I pretty much compare my play to a 20 handicap and enjoy seeing the positive changes that occur with strokes gained when having a good round. You appreciate how Tee, Approach, Short and Putting are different, BUT yet connected to each other when recalling situations after the fact.
Wow, thank you for the walkthrough of the new editing. I am excited to get back on the course and play with the editor. It really seems like ShotScope made a lot of great updates.
Appreciate the kind comment and support, John! Feel free to give the mobile app editing video tutorial I’ve just uploaded a watch too if you want to learn more about editing with the new mobile editor! Cheers
Andy, good video. Certainly helpful with the new changes as well as some of the existing options which I didn't know. I would like to see how to enter puts for real distances rather than just selecting 1,2,3,4 putt options. Regards, LPL
Hi Larry, Thanks for taking the time to check out the video and for the kind feedback. You putts will be recorded automatically with the V3 or by tapping you putter tag on the face of the H4, which will automatically record the distances for you from the hole. You can then move these strokes or the hole to alter the distances of each putt. The 1/2/3/4 putt options on the watch are simply used during your round to mainly collect the location of the pin (you select the no. of putts directly over the hole after putting out) and to confirm to the watch that the number of putts it has tracked are correct. You can find more information here: support.shotscope.com/hc/en-us/articles/115005608069-How-does-the-PinCollect-feature-work- Hope this helps but feel free to ask more questions if not. If you've not already done so, I'd really appreciate if you'd consider subscribing to support the channel. Many thanks, Andy
Hi Andy, thanks for posting a very good video. I think there are some great improvements in the editing (especially moving putts about with the arrow keys!) and thanks for pointing out some of the existing ones I did not even know about. I am looking forward to my first round of the year now!
Amazing feedback. Thanks so much to taking the time to not only watch the video but leave a kind comment, Peter. Feel free to drop me a message should you have any other questions and be sure to check out my other tutorials and future Shot Scope related videos. Cheers!
Nicely done, thank you! I never had any issues with the layout before and this also looks pretty straight forward, your tutorial makes it look easy, thanks again!
Thanks very much for the comment, Marty. I'm glad you enjoyed the video and hope that it helps other users who may be struggling with the update. Personally, I've found it to be a really good change and not too difficult to use but I appreciate that some users may find it less straightforward than others. Definitely a positive move from Shot Scope, though!
Nice one! Thanks for checking the video out and for the kind comment. Be sure to check out my mobile editor tutorial too if you're keen to learn how to use that! Cheers, Andy
Regarding your explanation of a positional shot, is it fair to say every single 2nd shot you play on a par 5 where you cannot reach the green should be considered as a positional shot?
There has been a lot of debate over what do with in the scenario. Personally, I’ve always lived by the rule that I only use the positional option if for example, I’m chipping out of the rough with a 5 iron to keep it below the trees and it’s only going to go 120 yards or so. Basically, just getting myself back into play using a club that I would normally hit considerably further.
Great video thanks. Any advice on how to add a shot from the fairway when you declare a ball lost and instead of taking your next shot from the original location you drop in the fairway for a 2 shot penalty(local rule on many courses now for pace of play)
In this instance, I think I would leave the original shot in as it was but then add a +2 penalty to the second shot (tap on the add shot option) and choose +2 penalty. I've never actually used this fairway drop method myself but I think this would work out fine.
Andy, many thanks for this video as was just about to give up with the new editing software. Still think for amateur/casual golfers it is an overkill and nice to have both options. Nevertheless Shotscope should give you a big thank you for this video.
Hey Nigel, Thanks so much for the kind comment and for watching the video - really appreciated that. I think the update is a huge improvement on the older editor and aligns nicely with the rest of the Shot Scope dashboard interface. I know quite a lot of users have struggled with the update, hence I made this tutorial, but I think it's probably just change and once they use it more often, they'll find it easier. Irrespective of its difficulties, it's great to see Shot Scope continuing to invest in their devices/software and continue to make changes/improvements. I have a mobile editor video getting released very soon so hopefully that will help any users finding it difficult to edit using the mobile app. Thanks again for checking the video out and be sure to subscribe to the channel if you've not already done so as I've got plenty more Shot Scope-related videos to come! Cheers, Andy
Andy - thanks for video. Really helpful. I was a junior member at Pitfirrane so it was a little trip down memory lane watching your video. I asked ShotScope if they had a guide to the performance stats and especially how to interpret them to inform my practice. They don’t have any guides to the performance stats. Have you recorded a video on this subject? Neil
Hey Neil - no worries at all and thanks for taking the time to leave a kind comment. I only joined Pitfirrane in 2020 having played it once as a 15 year old, so I'm probably the inverse of you. Glad you enjoyed the quick look at a few holes. I purposely only edited one or two holes as I think 18 might have been overkill. I don't have a video on interrogating the statistics at the moment but I do plan on creating some content around this for my 'Journey to scratch' blog series, so be sure to keep an eye out for this videos. If you've subscribed to the channel then you should see them when they launch. Out of curiosity, is there anything in particular you'd be interested in seeing with regards to stats? Cheers, Andy
@@AndysGolfBlog - Andy a general guide to the performance stats would be useful with an basic explantion of each. I, like you and probably loads of other golfers, am trying to get to scratch. I'm working with a local pro and have given him access to my shotscope stats to allow us to agree some measurable goals this year and to concentrate on the most effective practice. My putting is currently SG positive to scratch but everything else (tee, approach & short game) is negative so it would be easy to just concentrate on all of these negative aspects but I guess I want to make the most effective use of my limited practice time and get the most "bang for my buck". I'll look out for your Journey to Scratch videos. Cheers Neil
Thanks, excellent video. I've not used the new editor yet as won't play until the spring but it looks much better, especially the tap-in putts and the lost/drop ball options. My watch always misses a few shots a round, is it the same as before to add a missed shot?
Thanks Chris - appreciate the kind words and glad you found this one useful. If your watch does miss strokes then you can add them using the + button and by selecting the club you used. I think I covered this in the video - at least for adding penalty strokes (shots are added in the same way). If you’re interested in finding out how to edit using the new mobile app editor then feel free to check out this video tutorial I’ve just uploaded today: th-cam.com/video/WHA08TiIZ2g/w-d-xo.html Feel free to hit that subscribe button if you’ve not already done so! Cheers! :)
Thanks for the tutorial. With the availability of the X5 watch could you add something about getting support through the dashboard support link for the X5? The existing link points to the old support pages with no mention of X5. The new support pages have been split into product specific hierarchies under the title "get started" - not a good title for support information, and the X5 pages have only the user guide and some tutorials. So still no support for X5.
Thanks for the tip. I’ll happily throw in a link to the X5 resources. I’m also going to make some user guidance videos when I get a chance, so will drop them in when I get a chance! Obviously I don’t work for Shot Scope, so just create and/or update my content when I have time! :) Cheers, Andy
Hi Andy, whats your feeling on second shots on par 5's being included in approach stats? For most of us mere mortals we are never going to reach the green in two. Personally I sometimes will hit a full shot up to bunkers say because I know i cannot clear them. Would personally love a third type of shot as well as positional so these shots help round out my distance stats for clubs without ruining approach shots gained.
I noticed a similar debate on the FB group and am of the same opinion as you (and most others). A GIR on a 5 is with the third shot, not second, so this does seem very strange. We have five par 5’s on my home course and there are only two holes I’ve every managed to get on in two on - both only once. I’d say only about 1% of the players at my club play those par 5s with the ability to get there in 2. Realistically, a layup short of the green with your third shot should be a positional shot in my opinion, not your second. Surely this whole issue would be fixed if the second shot simply wasn’t marked as an approach by default?
@@AndysGolfBlog i am going to argue against myself here but thinking about this it should be maintained as it is to maintain correct values in shots gained. If we cannot reach a par 5 in two or even a par 4 on the second shot but pros/long hitters can that should be reflected in shots gained. Last year i marked second shots on par 5s as positional but this year if i hit a full shot i will have that count to my club statistics. I will get better club stats but will have to swallow my pride on approach shots gained and approach proximity. Either that or learn how to hit it further or play off forward tees outwith (note the scottish parlance 😊) comps.
@@AndysGolfBlog Personally, I don't see how this is debatable. Subtract the two putts from a par 5, and that means the approach is the third shot. For me, I'm trying to be a bogey golfer, so I use GIR+1 as my benchmark. I wish there was a setting that allowed an extra stroke before calculating approach stats. I think this would be appealing to high-index golfers. It's very discouraging -- and basically useless -- to see that I hit 1 of 18 greens in regulation when I might have been 16-for-18 in GIR+1. In addition, it would properly calculate my approach stats. I was marking my second shots on Par 4 holes as positional before I realized that omitted them from the stats. It's a very frustrating situation when I'm trying to use data to improve my game.
Looks like it will make editing a lot simpler. Are there any plans to incorporate a weather or course condtion option so the performance stats can be further refined. For example, over the winter, our course is often water logged or frozen solid so distances can vary hugely. It would be useful if we had such an optionso our club distances were accurate in any given condition. So, if I normally drive 260 yards including roll out in the summer / dry conditions, I wouldn't want my driving stats to be affected by drives where the ball has plugged in winter or very wet conditions. This may also help when recording wedge shots so roll out can be better calculated, again depending on the conditions. BTW the WRS / Scottish Golf app has never shown any variance for weather conditions on any round I've played over the last year .... and I've played in all sorts !. Keep up the good work Andy - great video as always!
Thanks very much taking the time to leave a (kind) comment - glad you enjoyed the video. I'm not aware of any plans from Shot Scope to add in a weather/course conditions option to the editor if I'm honest. I seem to recall this being suggested before on the Shot Scope support group on Facebook but I'm not sure if Shot Scope planned to do anything with the suggestion. I guess the problem is how do you determine the conditions to begin omitting shots from performance stats, especially given how much weather conditions vary. As a general rule of thumb, I only ever choose to include rounds which have been played on a full course (main tees/greens and without winter mats) in my performance statistics. That way, I know that the stats are going to generally be of a suitable standard and worth analysing. Even if it's really windy, I'll still include them because everything should average out over time. I get that it might be annoying seeing your 260 driving average taking a dent when you play into a 30mph wind and your drives are only going 190 but I guess that's how it goes. Will be interesting to see what Shot Scope do next with regards to the editor but I think it's a great to see them making these changes to better align the editor with the rest of the dashboard in terms of looks and feel - something I think is long over due. Anyway, thanks again for checking the video out and for taking the time to leave a comment. I've got a few more Shot Scope videos planned, so be sure to keep your eyes peeled fort them! Cheers, Andy
Adding a stroke is covered in the video, Roger. I add an iron but the putter is the same story, just done on the green. You can use any computer (desktop or laptop) as editing is done in a web browser, not a desktop app. Hope this helps!
I don’t have easy access to a laptop or desktop so want to sign off using the mobile app on my iPhone. Looking for something on this as at present I have sign off each hole individually as far as I can see. If you can do a video using the mobile app showing how I can move from one hole to the next without signing off each hole individually that would be great. Thanks. .
Hi Mike. Mobile tutorial is going up tomorrow as I'm having technical issues right now. It'll explain the full process for mobile users. Will drop you a message when it's live. Make sure you've subscribed so you're notified. Cheers!
Do you know what to do when you lose a ball and decide to move on to the next hole. I alwaýs pick my ball up in stableford when I know I can't get any points, but I don't know how to handle this in the editor.
Hello. There is a ‘pick up’ option when on the pin collect screen, but I think this one clears all shots from that hole, so might not be worth using. Alternatively, (off the top of my head) you could just delete the putts that it automatically puts in for the holes you’ve not competed, leaving just the shots up to the hole. The only issue from a rounds perspective is that it’ll show this as having holed out from the fairway or wherever you played your last shot. I know shot scope mentioned a few years ago that they wee looking into stableford but there hasn’t been any news so far. I guess they’ve got other priorities but it would be good to see this type of scoring built into the editor and stats.
Hi Andy and thanks for this and all other very good reviews and info videos. I fingers on my brand new V3 every day waiting for the snow to disappear here in Sweden. Meaning I've got no experience at all from editing or use yet, but in the meantime I've searched for how to use the V3 on the course and to make the most input there to minimize the need of post editing. Do you have any video for that or planning to cover it? Say for situations as a provisional ball and the different options that follow or if the ball is picked up before holed out. Also in the end of this video you talk about a link for how to edit in the mobile app, but I can't find that video from links in the video (or am doing something wrong..😀)
Hey GJ. Thanks very much for taking the time to comment and for being so kind - much appreciated. I can imagine it's frustrating not being able to get our with the V3 although I've always assumed it's often snowy n Sweden so by my logic, you might be waiting a while. That said, some of the world's best players hail from your home country so I must be wrong! Anyway, it's a good idea to check the Shot Scope videos ahead of going out to the golf course. I'd suggest watching (if you've not already done so) the following two videos: How to set up and use the Shot Scope V3: th-cam.com/video/PsFGwUE6Y7w/w-d-xo.html 10 things every user needs to know before using the Shot Scope V3: th-cam.com/video/X7SmqhpdwFQ/w-d-xo.html I'd also strongly encourage you to read the Shot Scope quick start guide/user manual as it's packed with a lot of useful information. With regards to using the V3 on the golf course, I've not yet captured such a video but have one in the pipeline - just need to wait on the weather to improve so I can get out and produce one. It would include penalty strokes etc. To be honest, though, I find adding lost balls etc so easy when editing I tend to simply play golf and not record any penalty strokes whilst playing - I always do so post-round. Finally, I've not yet gotten around to uploading that video so haven't been able to link to it quite yet. I hope that it'll be live by the end of the weekend or at least at some point next week. It'll definitely be up soon, though! Anyway, thanks again for the view and comment. Feel free to check out my other videos and subscribe if you've not already done so as I've got plenty more Shot Scope videos to come. Cheers, Andy
I am having an issue adding a stroke to a water hole. If my shot goes into the water hazard I have the choice to play my next shot from a Drop Zone which is off to one side of the fairway but I can't get the dashboard edit function to recognize my shot from this offset Drop Zone. Please can you advise how this can be done.
You should be able to follow these steps: 1. Locate the original shot that found the water (e.g. tee shot) and click on it. 2. Click on the three dots to display the further options (change club/positional/ etc.) 3. Click on the ‘Drop Ball’ option and manually move the location of the red ‘Drop Ball’ marker that will appear at the end of the selected shot to where the hazard was. 4. Move your next shot to the location where you played from (the drop zone). You shouldn’t have to do this, though as the device should already have picked up where you played this shot from. Hope this helps, Tony. Be sure to subscribe to the channel as I’ve got plenty more Shot Scope videos on there and many more to come! Cheers. Andy
Thanks for taking the time to explain the new editor. Not played since start of November, so didn't know there had been an update. Certainly makes editing better (I worked in GIS), so happy with the changes, bar one - Why did they make the map screen so small? That is why I use my laptop and a display! Wonder if we ask nicely that they can include an option to res-ze the mapping screen! ;-)
No worries, David. Hope it helps you out for when you do start playing again. It’s definitely an improvement in my opinion and there is a lot to like about it. I do actually agree with you about the size of the map and think this is probably quite valuable feedback for Shot Scope. I suspect it’s a fairly simple fix as it’ll just be an embed from google maps so probably just a case of increasing the height of the container. Well, maybe not quite as simple as that but that’s pretty much how I’d be doing it on my golf blog website if it was…so probably relatively similar. Thanks again for taking the time to watch and for leaving a positive comment. Always nice to see comments and hear that people find the videos useful. More Shot Scope content planned so be sure to keep your eyes peeled! Cheers, Andy
@@gtsgolf9410 I guess that’s one way to do it! Whilst it is a little bit small, I’m fine with it but useful to think about rotating for others. I’d imagine that it’s an easy enough fix for Shot Scope to make it bigger. We’ll see what they say. Cheers for the input, though. Great suggestion!
I cannot allocate the Stroke indexes to the holes. The options appear to be mens, white, but all the indexes are listed 1 to 18. Where do you edit the Stroke indexes for the courses?
When editing a new or existing round, the first screen should allow you to select your tees from a drop down list. You can also create your own tee set and add the SI’s using the blue plus button next to the tee option on the app. I can’t remember off the top of my head what this option is called on the desktop version but I think it’s something along the lines of ‘add custom tee’ or something similar.
Okay, I get what you mean having now looked at it, and I have the same issue. I'd suggest just clicking OK for the Women's tees anyway, then just creating the tee set. I don't think it will make a real difference to the tee location for each shot but if it does you can just manually move them. You could always contact Shot Scope (support@shotscope.com) to ask why the men's option is greyed out you're really concerned but adding the indexes isn't something I normally bother with to be honest.
Hi there. It’ll not work on the latest products for a while yet. There’s only just been released so the X5 and PRO L2 are sadly not eligible for the discount. They will on the future but that’ll be quite a while away. Should work on all other products, though. Thanks
It’s because you’ve not spent time going through to check that the data is correct. I suspect this is a move to try and bring some kind of authenticity to leaderboards as they should then only contain shots that have at least been checked. Leaderboards have been plagued with 600 yard drives and hole in ones etc since they launched because any and all shots would be included. By at least making users review their rounds I guess it’s hoped that the leaderboard data will be more of an accurate representation of real shots/rounds. Does that make sense? Hopefully it does!
@@AndysGolfBlog that makes sense I suppose. Thanks for making the video by the way, the new features look useful, particularly being able to change your lie. My home course has some new bunkers and the map can't be updated until Google maps is updated so I'll be able to tag them now without moving the shot at all
@@jamessayers5903 No worries at all - glad you found the video to be useful. The lie-changing option is really useful, isn't it. I used to dislike having to manually drag a shot, ending up altering the distance just to change the lie. It's great to see them actively making improvements rather than just leaving it as it is. I've got plenty more Shot Scope and general golf videos planned, so be sure to subscribe if you haven't already as hopefully they'll be useful to you.
Apologies if this has already been answered but if I'm on course using my V3 and hit, say a 3w not very well but 70 yards. How do I mark/note via the watch that I'm playing the same club but now 70 yards further on? Or is this only a post edit issue?
Hi John. You won’t need to do anything on this situation because you’re playing from 70 yards on. Both strokes will be captured automatically and count towards your performance average for your 3 wood. Obviously, say you normally hit it further than 70 yards then your average will drop slightly after this stroke. If you’ve purposely only hit the 3 wood a short distance (over 50 yards), say out of the trees, you can mark the shot as a positional shot so that it doesn’t count towards your average. You could also use this method to prevent counting this 70 yard 3 wood although I’d suggest leaving it to count. The only time that only one stroke may be recorded instead of two is if your using the same club for multiple shots within the same close proximity (way less than 70 yards) - for example, you take three strokes to get out of a bunker. In this case, shot scope may only capture the last stroke because they’re all made in the same location. Hope this helps!
@@AndysGolfBlog OK thanks Andy, I'll check it out. It's just that having the watch ID the 3W for the first shot, when I arrive at the mis-hit ball say 70 yards further on and "tap" my 3W to my watch it is already showing the 3W (being the last club I played). You're saying it will know I'm playing another shot at that point and don't need to do anything else. Editing later it seems not to identify that extra shot.
Yup, that’s right. It may not look like it has registered the tag but it will, especially at a distance of 70 yards. If it was 4-5 yards then it could potentially register it as one stroke but not at 70. If it does miss it then you will need to add manually but I’d be very surprised!
It's a shame that shotscope sees fit not to include a help link in the editor. An individual should not be the sole source of help for their apps or dashboard. We all appreciate your help Andy. Shotscope should feel obligated to their end users for their products support. With no subscriptions maybe we just get what we have paid for. Live with it.
You should do that on the watch or H4 handheld itself. When done on the watch it will clear all shots from that hole. I believe the only way to do it on the app is to delete all of the shots from the hole manually. Hope that helps!
I’ve noticed someone comment on this before on the Facebook group but I’m not sure it’s something I’d be interested in personally, or think it’s something that shot scope could realistically implement. Weather conditions vary so much for golfers all around the world and I guess what one user thinks is a one club wind, others would count as a two club wind or more. Also, the performance average takes all shots over 50 yards into wind so it should give a fair average over time based on all of the different conditions you play in. I guess the only way to realistically get perfect gapping is to book a slot with a professional on trackman or something similar so that nothing else can influence the numbers. If shot scope were to add your suggested feature, how would you see it working? Genuinely interested as I think it could be quite complex but always good to hear other ideas.
@@AndysGolfBlog Thanks for the reply. I realise that conditions world wide differ. I play most of my golf at Halifax Bradley Hall, on the slope of an east West valley which funnels the wind east or west, it is rated second hardest in Yorkshire I believe. I am 75, handicap index 9.3. I am never going to improve much now having played for 65 years. What I was thinking was if you could include with each round 3 or 4 single letter searchable fields that people could assign to whatever condition they want to look at. The stats for those conditions would them be available. I am pleased to see that the plotting accuracy with the new system is much better, I have very little to adjust now compared to the last 4 years. I must admit to having little interest in the medals and leaderboards, some of the stats look too good to be true and with the slopes on my course, drives often bounce off the fairway hitting the middle and greens set into a slope, miss by a foot and you end up yards away. I'm not expecting anything from this, thank you for your interest and the video, it was useful.I will continue to use the watch. Regards, Bruce.
@@brucebain6128 Hi Bruce, Thanks very much for taking the time to reply - definitely makes sense to me a little more now that you've explained it. I think you're definitely onto something with the idea of some sort of note/option users can add to their rounds - I guess like tagging a file on a computer. The tag isn't universal and is unique to each user but allows them to quickly filter specific shots, rounds or anything else. If it was unique to each user and not a general tag then I think this would be useful as it could be customised to suit the needs of the user. With regards to the medals and leaderboards - I'd have to agree with you. The only time I've ever used leaderboards was for private groups with my friends as we all know that the rounds are being properly edited, whereas the data in global leaderboards is skewed by users who either purposely cheats or just don't edit their rounds (.e.g. 6,000 yard drives haha). I do, however, quite like the medals as a fun additional feature but seldom actually go in and look at them or try to earn more. What is great to see is that Shot Scope is always looking for areas to make improvements and further develop its products. If you'd like to learn how to edit your rounds using the new mobile app editor on an iOS or Andriod device take a look at my 'How to edit your rounds using the NEW Shot Scope Mobile App Editor - (iOS/Android Apps - 2023)' tutorial here:
th-cam.com/video/WHA08TiIZ2g/w-d-xo.html
Excellent video! Cleared up some "what is this" questions.
Thanks so much for the kind comment - really appreciate that! :)
first round of 2023 tomorrow, first round with Shot Scope. i was nervous about edits but the video was fantastic.
Cheers
Incredibly helpful. Thanks Andy!
Appreciate the comment, Andy, and glad it helped! There’s also a mobile editor tutorial on my channel if you want to take a look at that one too. Cheers
Used the X5 this morning,, needed to edit one hole as didnt pick up clubs that was used, your video made editing a hole so easy. thanks

Andy
@@AndysGolfBlog Thanks, Andy. Cheers!
@@gtsgolf9410 Agree re size of map, a bugbear if holes run N to S .
Hey Kip - you’re more than welcome. Hopefully you found it useful! Which device do you use - v3 or h4?
Andy, thanks so much, a very worthwhile and easy to follow tutorial. I'd say this is an improvement on the previous editing version.
Hi Larry,
Thanks for taking the time to check out the video and for the kind feedback.
You can find more information here: support.shotscope.com/hc/en-us/articles/115005608069-How-does-the-PinCollect-feature-work-

Hey Nigel,
Thanks so much for the kind comment and for watching the video - really appreciated that.

Cheers,
Andy

Or V5.
I heard you can add the hole index ratings to your home course, but I cant seem to find how to do that?
I cover that at the end of this tutorial when signing off my round ;)
Check out 26:25!

How do you add a putt and what laptop can you use with shot scope?
Adding a stroke is covered in the video, Roger. I add an iron but the putter is the same story, just done on the green. You can use any computer (desktop or laptop) as editing is done in a web browser, not a desktop app. Hope this helps!
I don’t have easy access to a laptop or desktop so want to sign off using the mobile app on my iPhone. Looking for something on this as at present I have sign off each hole individually as far as I can see. If you can do a video using the mobile app showing how I can move from one hole to the next without signing off each hole individually that would be great. Thanks. .

@@AndysGolfBlogAndy, this will cause an issue as shotscope is unable to accept hole indexes for use in Stapleford.
I'd suggest watching (if you've not already done so) the following two videos:

I'd also strongly encourage you to read the Shot Scope quick start guide/user manual as it's packed with a lot of useful information.

@@AndysGolfBlog Great, I'll keep my eyes open for upcoming videos.👍
I am having an issue adding a stroke to a water hole. If my shot goes into the water hazard I have the choice to play my next shot from a Drop Zone which is off to one side of the fairway but I can't get the dashboard edit function to recognize my shot from this offset Drop Zone. Please can you advise how this can be done.
You should be able to follow these steps:
1. Locate the original shot that found the water (e.g. tee shot) and click on it.
2. Click on the three dots to display the further options (change club/positional/ etc.)

@@AndysGolfBlog rotate 90 degrees for holes on north-south axis 😉
The only option I can find is 'Add Women's Tees'.
Andy, I've just checked Android and IOS mobile apps, neither app shows stroke indexes on the scorecard. What apps versions are you using?
Okay, I get what you mean having now looked at it, and I have the same issue. I'd suggest just clicking OK for the Women's tees anyway, then just creating the tee set. I don't think it will make a real difference to the tee location for each shot but if it does you can just manually move them. You could always contact Shot Scope (support@shotscope.com) to ask why the men's option is greyed out you're really concerned but adding the indexes isn't something I normally bother with to be honest.
@@AndysGolfBlogthanks for your reply Andy. I'll contact shotscope.
Your discount code doesn’t seem to work for the X5 Andy.
Hi there. It’ll not work on the latest products for a while yet. There’s only just been released so the X5 and PRO L2 are sadly not eligible for the discount. They will on the future but that’ll be quite a while away. Should work on all other products, though. Thanks
Why do the stats not get saved to medals, leaderboards etc when using the quick sign off?

You should do that on the watch or H4 handheld itself. When done on the watch it will clear all shots from that hole. I believe the only way to do it on the app is to delete all of the shots from the hole manually.
Hope that helps!
Thanks for the reply. Sorry to ask but how do you do that on the v3 as I don’t know of a pick up option
Check out these instructions. Hope they help.

Thank you
@@philiplewis2262 No worries at all, Philip. Hope this helps!
No matter what I do on that dashboard it keeps saying Couse handicap invalid
Interesting one - I've not seen that one before. Does it prevent you from completing the editing process?
Still no way to tell of course conditions. My course plays 2 shots worse in an easterly wind. No run in winter.
Regards,
Bruce.
@@brucebain6128 Hi Bruce,
Thanks very much for taking the time to reply - definitely makes sense to me a little more now that you've explained it.
Thanks again for watching and leaving a comment - all the best for the golf season ahead and kudos to you for still rocking a great handicap in your mid-70s.
Cheers,
Andy
