this is soooooo good!! A windsurfing video, which actually shows a full session! All of the usual sponsored video content on Instagram videos is full of those highlight clips of perfect waves, perfect moves, high jumps, and the same stuff for the 100th time. Seeing a normal wave rider ripping a session with the typical ups and downs is way more interesting. - chasing waves.... not catching some - Jibing... in 0 wind, awquardly shifting around while your board sinks - cruising around, looking back over your shoulders every 5 seconds, waiting for the set... then missing the set - riding a wave, making turns... falling in and hustle to water start before the next set. Thats a real session :) This is what we all go through in order to catch a few good ones Thanks for sharing it
Screw the tropical windsurfing videos with double flips and throbbing music, this Windsurfing Shark Island video and its predecessor are the most captivating and enthralling windsurfing videos currently on TH-cam.
Sometimes we don't need the radical moves by the best riders in the greatest conditions and the beautiful scenery, high end editing and soundtrack. But the real world, decent windsurfer trying out sketchy winds with good enough waves. No music, not much editing but a quality raw footage and here it is.. Good, long report on how it looks like going out there. The fun, struggles and fears on getting out of the water sometimes. Refreshing to see such video! 👍
That's what is so great about these videos. Its real windsurfing, with all the slogging, the fluky wind, the struggles, the stalls, getting caught in the break with no wind. Its the real thing. Great stuff, not to mention the 4k which is outstanding. If only we could recreate all the 1990's era video in 4k format! dare to dream...
I'm new to windsurfing and I can't believe how difficult it is! And that's just on flat water. But everyday I get better, and these videos make my imagination run wild about my future in this incredible sport, even if I only get to doing a franction of this. Thank you! Windsurfing, where have you been my whole life!
Love this stuff. Real world sailing by someone who is not some rock-star Pro. I felt every moment he got smacked by a gust or fell in when the wind died. It's bloody tough sailing in strong side-off conditions. Massive gusts right when you don't expect them and then holes with no wind. Hats off to Duncan. Reminds me of sailing off Long Reef.
Another excellent video and whole session without music. Clearly the subject is an excellent windsurfer. I have been out in similar conditions and I have to say it was my nightmare come true, but this guy handled it well. More please!!
Used to be Windsurfer for 15 yrs. Switched to kiting 15 yrs ago. No more schlepping and uncertainty...the wind range of modern kites is truly a game changer. Shark Island spot looks epic! Hats off to da sailor...brings back memories of schlepping in Maui, in San Fracisco and in Baja.
Raw Nature, wild, untameable and beautiful. Very few people, no matter how rich, powerful or wise they are, will ever experience screaming down the face of one of these growlers on a little board with a sail. Pure unadulterated envy and respect
Yes impressive effort and I like the style "warts and all" footage showing all aspects of wave sailing- the hard slog, the awkward, the difficult, the dangerous and the fun.. thanks to both Paul and Duncan. From my armchair, Tennyson, Adelaide.
Very difficult circumstances for Duncan, the windsurfer, and for you as the drone-pilot. A big bravo for both of you. I love the intro: locating the spot, picking the board and rigging the sail. Keep on posting.
The rawness, the vastness of the ocean, incredible! This is one of my favorite windsurfing videos, just raw footage, the sound of the wind and waves, the fun sides and also the struggles. Keep it up Paul! Fantastic
That looked like a dam good workout! Great to get back with body and gear intact. Well done to Paul for capturing the session, every windsurfer needs a wingman like that to capture their sessions for prosperity!
Clearly worth all the effort getting in! Great video - mission at the beginning to frame the session. Trek downwind to the spot, then picking off the sets out the back and then all the rides. Plus doesn’t cut away when rider crashes or gets caught inside trying to water start. Nice and raw! We’ve all been there so good to see how a skilled rider deals with all that. Top notch video. Much appreciated!
Awesome... Crazy !!! This is what real windsurfing is like... i can feel every moment of the anticipation..fear..struggle and shear excitement!! Hats off.. Very very well Done! Cheers🤙🏼🤙🏼👊🏼👊🏼
As a long time windsurfer, appreciation of this sailing session, the thought gone into it, is simply amazing and then to watch the Duncan ride those waves...epic! I kite now. Much much simpler. First love though is still windsurfing.
To me this sport an like surfing those who do it are beyond impressive. I find this just beyond words I love that you people have found a way to live your dreams man!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Hi from east coast canada :) Excellent windsurfing and the video was outstanding, no annoying music just the ocean surf and and wind the way it should be. The drone takes you right there I could feel my heart pumping everytime the wind died for him just inside the break. Definitely be tuning in for his next adventure. Keep em coming. All the best :)
Amazing video. Totally immersive. Can smell the ocean, feel the gusts and the water slapping my face. Congratulations to you both : rider and drone pilot !
Everyone: Haha the launch on the first video was thrilling as hell...no way windsurfing can be even more nerve-racking! Duncan: Hold my beer...you haven't seen me getting back to the beach yet! 😎
love the video, it shows real world windsurfing with all the struggles....., Paul van Bellen as always does not disappoint, showing all aspects of windsurfing
Wonderful complete footage , great use of drone , feeling like being there with the natural sound, without boomboxes. Thnx for sharing, great job both windsurfer & filmer!👏👏👏
Thank you Paul - this was awesome. Great flying, capturing the atmosphere of the area (that I know nothing of). I was thinking of titles as this was soaking into my soul... Risks vs Rewards... or this overused... where there is a Will there is a Way! Thank you Duncan! Be well Gents
Fantastic video! At 13:40 it's really not a good place to fall in the water seeing the set coming ... I shiver just thinking of it. Paddling back with a broken mast in big surf is really not fun! The return to shore was sooo sketchy. But good surfing action!
Great job getting in and then out of the water in tough winds. 2 techniques Duncan could benefit from on the exit (maybe he was too buggered): 1) Resting the boom on rear of board keeps the rig high and out of the water and waves washing him in - keeping the rig out of the water means better / easier control when sloshing around in those rocks. 2) Once you can lift gear standing on rocks or sand, eg waist deep water, flip the board upside down on top of the boom and get your head under the rig. You can balance the rig and board on the head with one hand, leaving the other free for balance or control. Helps when clambering over rocks etc, also keeps the rig high out of the water so waves don't wash it around. Much easier than carrying board in one hand and rig in the other with rig low and dragging in water or getting pushed around by waves. Safer too. Still, wasn't an easy exit and glad Duncan is OK. I've had my share of washed, rinsed and tumbled over rocks lol, we've all been there. Thanks for the footage!
…where where the roofing nails and broken bottles on the rocky go out?…drone camera work absolutely stunning…constant amazement…pulling for the sailor all the way…expected rig and brazen sailor to be shredded…you brahs down under are absolutely mad…”well done” cannot even begin to congratulate you maniacs…
I want to add that the sound in this video is very impressive, the roar of the sea and wind creates an atmosphere of being in the very thick of the action.
The amount of energy it cost to not fall over, balance your board in between sets waiting for a gust of wind to get you out of a possible hot zone when PapaWave comes rolling in. I remember after you get going again and you can relax a bit your heart is pounding from the effort. Shame there are not more windsurfers out there. Love to sail with others. Safer and more fun. Hang loose!
I used to do this sort of solo sailing in big swell for 15 km down the coast in Adelaide on my own with a friend in a car watching when I was 20. Was utterly exhilarating. But this sailor could easily have died that day, especially coming in he could have hit his head on the gear or the rocks, or drowned if he got separated from his gear. Well done! No doubt was an excellent work out and one to tell his mates.
yeah, love the ambient background audio. I mean, I'm a musician (excuse me...drummer) but I don't generally want to hear music over the action! I leave my (much shorter) mountain biking, kite GoPro vids w/the huffing and puffing, splashing, crashing audio. strong work.
Video perfecto del windsurf real. Felicidades. Es tan real que hace sentir como que el que navega soy yo. Cuando te acercas a tierra hasta que consigues estar sano y salvo es emocionante. Puntuación al windsurfista y piloto del dron: 10.
Great stuff as always Paul. Love seeing this real world windsurfing, full and uncut. We don't get waves like that here but I can still imagine myself being on them 100x more than any in the "pro" super energy/fast cut other TH-cam vids. Keep on keeping it real. Can't wait to see if its gonna be KA1111 in Indo, or drone work on the IWT/PWA tour you get to do. Obviously either client will probably have their own requirements, but my mouth is drooling at the prospect of getting to see a solid 45mins (or more please?) of either Polakow in Indonesia, or pro tour riders in Bali (?) shot and edited like this!
This was really brave !!! Well done ! Just like windsurfing in big waves with low wind is. Looks like you know the spot really well, i mean because the timing between the waves. Funny hole in the sailmastflap... get it repaired before its too late.... :)
Great effort there bro - swimming in to the beach I always grab the mast tip so my body acts as a sea-anchor. Lucky not to lose the rig and the board here, aye :)
nice video gives a true depiction of a windsurfer's experience and lengths they will go through trying to score a good session. good waves but unreliable winds not every session works out. not a good feeling getting worked by massive waves in a dead wind zone while being pushed into the rocks. He did a good job of getting out of trouble
this is soooooo good!!

I totally agree with this.
yah, yah, he said....throb ~ beavis
I just dissed another video for the same reason.
Indeed! Way better than the over-hyped "red bull" vids...

Good comment..
Exactly!
I love it. We beat the crap out of our gear on rocks or whatever, then carefully put it away in protective bags for the ride home. Awesome video.
How on earth did he manage to get back to dry land without breaking anything? Very raw and refreshing to see..
An absolute heart stopper of a video! Edge of the seat stuff. Loved it.
Another excellent video and whole session without music. Clearly the subject is an excellent windsurfer. I have been out in similar conditions and I have to say it was my nightmare come true, but this guy handled it well. More please!!
👏
Excelent, you know what the windsurfer likes, backstage, real windsurfers and sea sound!

I‘m not a surfer but this footage was amazing.
I literally could feel where the wind was coming from and the fights he had. Beautiful.
Very difficult circumstances for Duncan, the windsurfer, and for you as the drone-pilot. A big bravo for both of you. I love the intro: locating the spot, picking the board and rigging the sail. Keep on posting.
This gives me the love/fear feeling I have when I'm windsurfing (smaller-but-big-to-me ) waves. One of my favorite windsurfing videos.
so breathtaking! Certainly of the best windsurfing movies I have seen.
Totally dig the total session format. Shows how hard core it is.
The rawness, the vastness of the ocean, incredible! This is one of my favorite windsurfing videos, just raw footage, the sound of the wind and waves, the fun sides and also the struggles. Keep it up Paul! Fantastic
Happy you like the video Sueni!
Much respect to Duncan for that entire session and also to Paul for his 'uncut' storytelling format!
A real windsurfing session. A tough one. More than a video this is a documentary. I love it. Thank you very much from the Canary Islands.
Thank you Victor glad you enjoyed it!!
The best surf Video! I love it, because it is real. Not that boring stuff!
That looked like a dam good workout! Great to get back with body and gear intact. Well done to Paul for capturing the session, every windsurfer needs a wingman like that to capture their sessions for prosperity!
Awesome! Duncan has steel eggs ! Thanks for video !
Excelent !!! We are literaly on the board with the rider during all the film. Fore shure, I'll wear my wetsuit for the next video. Congrats !
Clearly worth all the effort getting in!

Stoked you enjoyed the video!
Very impressive. Remind never to buy second hand gear off him! 😃
😂😂😂
Well, the gear is fully tested after all, so perhaps not a bad idea (-;
That is a rocky beach! I couldn't believe that the gear survived the exit. I like your videos. Great filming.
To me this sport an like surfing those who do it are beyond impressive.
I find this just beyond words I love that you people have found a way to live your dreams man!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Wow, what a stunning video! And many-many thanks for NOT adding any soundtrack!
🙌
Amazing footage of a level and situations I can Identify to...not some inacessible professionals or other Big shots you can only dream of. Cheers
Thanks mate glad you enjoyed it!
That looks like a daunting location and not for the feint hearted with all those rocks pounded by the ocean.
Fantastic video...real edge of seat stuff. Superb sailing in super scary conditions. Well done to Duncan. Great video Paul 👍👍
The return to the beach was just CRAAAAZZZY !
Hi from east coast canada :) Excellent windsurfing and the video was outstanding, no annoying music just the ocean surf and and wind the way it should be. Amazing video. Totally immersive. Can smell the ocean, feel the gusts and the water slapping my face. Congratulations to you both : rider and drone pilot !
Fantastic drone piloting!
In those conditions that is a tough place to sail. Good on him for going for it.
Definitely!! Duncan is a legend!
Everyone: Haha the launch on the first video was thrilling as hell...no way windsurfing can be even more nerve-racking!
Duncan: Hold my beer...you haven't seen me getting back to the beach yet!
😎
He is a pretty big guy. Must be super windy with a 4.3. Well done
love the video, it shows real world windsurfing with all the struggles....., Paul van Bellen as always does not disappoint, showing all aspects of windsurfing
It's big and gnarly and you think you might be the only one crazy enough to go out only to find there's already a boogie-boarder in the water. LOL.
The car , the gear, the balls, thanks for another brilliant video!
Thanks for taking the element „time“ back into your „Clip“, it is good for getting an understanding of how big the ocean is.
TERRIFIC - just the sounds of the elements, great footage - thanks very much
Kudos to the drone operator, really good footage!
Super work with the drone! Kudos to the pilot! A+++ captain!!!
Wonderful complete footage , great use of drone , feeling like being there with the natural sound, without boomboxes. Thnx for sharing, great job both windsurfer & filmer!👏👏👏
Amazing footage ! Real life windsurfing, with the whole , gust, crazy waves, harsh shore break... KUDO ! Thank you !
Skark island en Australie ou en Namibie ?
Super vidéo !! Très poétique, juste le vent, les vagues et le windsurfer ! Merci !
Pharos Pix In Australia 👍
It blows my mind how stable the drone is in this wind. Nice flying as well
Hardcore, what a memorable session Mate, and was recorded!. Greetings from Argentina.
🙌🏽
I would'nt put my worse ennemi in thoses conditions !!! Thanks for the great footage !!!
I just snipped the launch in this video and posted it on my facebook, with link back here. I really like his launch!
Sweet mate!
Hard to understand how perfect the video is. Incredible!!!
"No point talking about it" what a legend!
😂
Thank you Paul - this was awesome. Great flying, capturing the atmosphere of the area (that I know nothing of). I was thinking of titles as this was soaking into my soul... Risks vs Rewards... or this overused... where there is a Will there is a Way! Thank you Duncan! Be well Gents

REAL conditions! great video and DUNC is a great waver.... to keep calm in such a difficult situation.
😀👍
Every session is a ring clencher with this guy...
sounds suss

Cheers for the tips mate, I’ll pass it onto Dunc.
That looked like hard work! The Island is probably better on a freshening breeze, less holes. Once again, good job. Was nice to watch.
WOW AMAZING... II IS LIKE BEEN WINDSURFING!!!!
Awesome video!
Great footage! And congrats for going in and getting out of the water on that day ! Pretty stressful watch!
This is A grade Paul so good!! I love the takeoff of Duncan from the launch, off like a rocket. What a legend he is. Your video is amazing!!! thanks
I want to add that the sound in this video is very impressive, the roar of the sea and wind creates an atmosphere of being in the very thick of the action.
I’ll never ever complain about the shore break in my own spot. That was the real deal here!
Wow. Epicness. Amazing footage, amazing surfing.

Nice one Stephen that’s cool you had some big adventures on your windsurfer!
Realmente conoce mucho el lugar, creo que con una tabla mas grande hubiera disfrutado mas.Muy bueno el video. !Saludos desde Argentina
Fkg Crazy! Great stuff. Really like the long form, raw, unedited style. And the drone work is amazing.
Tony Prysten cheers!

I thought you were a goner on that exit.🙀
Some biggns out there, you’ve got big balls Duncan Osborne.
Great vid again PVB
Love those session reports. Great!
I like the moment with the mast sleeve :-)
Achim Kleiner Büro für visuelle Kommunikation & Funsport 😃
This looks like soooo much fun!
Great stuff. No music is fantastic. Immersive
This looks like a much better experience than me getting all my gear destroyed in the shore break.
This was really brave !!! Well done ! Just like windsurfing in big waves with low wind is. Looks like you know the spot really well, i mean because the timing between the waves. Funny hole in the sailmastflap... get it repaired before its too late.... :)
Respect. The fitness and strength needed to sail in conditions like that????..wish I had it.
Great effort there bro - swimming in to the beach I always grab the mast tip so my body acts as a sea-anchor. Lucky not to lose the rig and the board here, aye :)
Wind seems a bit light, but sweet waves. Great video, thanks for excluding the music
nice video gives a true depiction of a windsurfer's experience and lengths they will go through trying to score a good session. good waves but unreliable winds not every session works out. not a good feeling getting worked by massive waves in a dead wind zone while being pushed into the rocks. Max respect and very honest documentary, take care A+++++
Super drive👍
Wow!!! Thanks for keeping it real!
Omg, coming in to shore was terrifying from my sofa, let alone from the water!
A lot of work for just a drop and a mushy shoulder. Good on ya mate!
What an awesome fella, cheers!!
Thank you for the REAL stuff!
Create video.
Thx for creating og sharing ;-)
Intense reentry. Holy smokes. 👏🏼🤙🏼
