Thanks so much for making this video! I feel honored to be mentioned in your video, it’s really good to know that you don’t think I’d be missing out skipping the normal tanqueray. I actually received a bottle of beefeater as a gift, so I think a bottle of no. 10 would complement it beautifully

@@nononsensegindrinking5152 Did you know we actually distill a completely different gin in a small still called tiny 10 which is also laden with fresh whole fruits and added to the final Tanqueray 10 distillation.. That's where the big citrus notes come from.. 👍🏻😉

I remember the first time I had Tanqueray 10. It was my birthday, and Tanq 10 is extremely expensive in India. I had exhausted my budget but I stretched it to take a chance on it.
I remember when we smelled it the first time. It didn't smell very different from the normal Tanqueray. I felt skepticism. Had I wasted so much money for nothing?
Then I remember when we did our cheers and took the first sip. Both me and my friend were screaming in disbelief, with everyone else (who were having Black Label) wondering what the hell we were on about. I felt my taste buds simply rejoicing in glory. Ever tasted something so perfect that you feel your brain melting?

The difference in price between countries is astounding. In Spain you can buy the regular Tanqueray for just 13-15€ in most supermarkets, while the Tanqueray Ten usually costs almost 30€ and is only available in bigger stores like Carrefour among others.

Sadly Tanqueray ten, where I live, is almost double the price of the normal Tanqueray, which is kind of sad because I'm still kind of forcing myself to like classic(more junipery) gins, but I absolutely love citrusy gins. My favourite so far is Plymouth. Just bought myself a normal Tanqueray and a Beefeater 24, because that was in my budget, eventhough I would've loved to get the normal Tanqueray and the Tanqueray Ten for a comparison, but I think the normal Tanqueray as a classic(more junipery) gin vs Beefeater 24 as a less junipery and more other botanicals gin will be an interesting match :)
Also I am so gland that I found your channel for gin advices :)
There are a lot of whisky channels, but I'm not a whisky fan, and so few gin channels. Keep up the good work my friend and be safe in the UK. I'm from Hungary ;)

When I was shopping (online) for my first gin, to do some mixing, I bought a bottle of Tanqueray, but I remember it almost was Bombay Saphire, it looked so exclusive and I knew nothing about gin. I didn´t consider Beefeater, because I found it too ordinary and cheap... Tanqueray was fine and pleasant and now I know much more about gin, because I watch this channel.

What a coincidence, I had two standard Tanqueray G&T earlier tonight. I have three bottles of the No 10 but I haven't tried it. Agree No.10 is very citrus enhanced compared to standard. Had served up one to my Mrs and I; she prefers orange slices with her servings whereas I had a slice of lemon and wanted to love it but was very underwhelmed. Tried a segment of lime with it tonight, as she did, and wow, what a difference, moved No.10 on to another level and was delicious. Found it on offer at Morrisons of late for £26 but rarely find it less than £30 if I'm honest.

Thank you Bobby for answering this important question. I'm surprised that amongst you gin lovers most prefer citrus over juniper (I love both varieties of Tanqueray). For the minority who is addicted to juniper I can recommend a pure juniper spirit (more a kind of genever than a true gin) from my home country 🇩🇪: Eversbusch Doppel-Wachholder. Number of botanicals = 1😋 Bobby, I would like to hear your opinion on Eversbusch.

I mean the classic tanqueray has the import strengh that is also 47% abv.
And the classic tanqueray was ment to be simple ,only 4 botanicals, so it makes it very versatile, and easy to play with the garnishes.
Classic tanqueray is ment to be the house gin of most of the bars and pubs, even the shape of the bottle is perfect to fit in my bar station.
Tanqueray 10 is very similar, the citrus parts is what changes it.
Depends very much how much you know about gin before choosing between the 2.
Tanqueray classic is perfect to make your palate familiar with that harsh initial taste that you get when you taste it neat.
After you get used to that you will be able to understand more of the difference between the 3 botanicals( ignoring the juniper)
Tanqueray 10 is a little more complicated since the citrus covers most of the flavours
