Spike predicted the green dial gold Daytona before John Mayer. This guy has outstanding taste.
Gotta say, as much as I love the deep dives and fact based episodes, all the episodes with guests discussing the history and stories behind their collections are just the best. I feel like I learn so much, and feel so much more connected to the hobby seeing it through the eyes of other varied collectors. Good stuff.
I heard the Seinfeld Daytona story on Spike's Car Radio. Great story, loving that you guys are crossing over between shows.
Please have Spike back!
Joe Rogan experience brought me here. I nearly creamed my pants when you said "check out my Grand Seiko."
Jerome Longoria thanks!
This was the first episode of the show I've actually watched. Well, I listened to the podcast. Fucking great show Matt. Best go back to episode 1 and watch and listen to them all.
Thank you!
I got into watches about two years ago. I’ve been a car and gun guy my entire life. I’ve noticed a lot of the guys my age who have been “watch guys” since childhood have crossed over into guns or cars... and in a few cases both. I think it’s great
Matt finally got joe rogan to talk about watches on his podcast!
I kinda requested this episode a few podcasts ago. You said no, but here it is, thanks!
That Seinfeld-Rolex story was suuuper relatable to us common guys. Yeah... really enjoyed those rich guy collector problems.
The tachometer shown as an example of a Jaeger made dash clock isn't actually Jaeger. British Jaeger was a subsidiary of the British Smiths Group, which was formerly the automotive gauge division of the Swiss Jaeger. I've surprised myself by knowing that honestly.
That Jerry Seinfeld story made my morning. 😂😂
Great episode!
Love my Autavia and Spike needs to visit often.
Story about Jerry Seinfeld and the Vic Elford Rolex nailed it. Hint, google Steve McQueen hanhart watch ; )
this is PERFECT... im currently working on making my own automotive themed watches (my two largest passions in the world) and this was so informative and fun to hear/watch. Keep the episodes coming. Ive been spreading this channel all over the facebook groups for microbrand watch brands and they love it!
Curious if you do any type of reviews or have any type of promotion for up and coming watch brands/makers?
You have a website?
ThatRosco458 www.koenwatch.com but im currently under redesigned prototypes being finished as our first kickstarter campaign wasnt funded due to rushing and timing during the holidays. You can find my Instagram @koenwatches for the latest updates.
Great podcast, but we need more Zuckerman!! :)
Brian Mandl He's too busy making da monnney
Just a short message - when you guys run out of ideas for the shows that teach people about watches - it would be really nice to get some dedicated shows on, for instance, sole watch brands, like Seiko, Omega, Rolex. For instance, Seiko's history is very rich, how they changed the game with Quartz, etc. There are lesser brands, but with, perhaps, some significant achievements - a show dedicated for a brand with some examples and variations of their craftsmanship would be greatly welcome.
Godl1ked yep we are starting wide and then narrowing it into deep dives through
Individual brands.
Wish granted, it seems!
Great show so far, really enjoying some history and quirks about it.
Spike Feresten, what a guy.
I wish you would have gotten that Heuer Autavia GMT Chronograph with the Pepsi bezel for this episode. As much as Spike talks about those Crown and Caliber would have made a sale by the end of the show.
I love the Sinn 556i, but wish it was slightly bigger.
I've got one for almost 7 years now, still think its one of the best looking watches. (And i like the size)
I would love a show where Matt continues to butcher the pronunciations of my favorite watch brands ;-)
the Jaeger gauges are half the selling point of a vintage Alfa to me
the German or Swiss-German S is pronounced as a soft Z and Lange is Lang Uh the a being a short a as in La
ever heard Matt say Glashütte? His Lange pronounciation is spot on compared to that ;-)
What are some brands that have cool tech features like the Citizen economy drive line of watches?
Brandon Mistretta we will visit Eco-drive next week!
Thank you look forward to watching the next video
Great podcast guys, huge watch guy and car guy, and love Seinfield the soup NAZI episode is a classic . " No soup for you !." LOL subd for more info , keep up the great work guys :)
That Sinn is gorgeous, however I think it would be way too thick for Spike, I think it's 2 or 3mm taller than his Autavia.
Spike Ferestan's talk show was one of the best. Why wasn't he asked to take over from David instead of that tool Colbert?
Spike does a better Jerry impression than Jerry. Hilarious!
Okay im on Minute 8 and wow i always read Jaeger as Jäger (german for hunter) because if you do not have ä ö ü on your keyboard in german you spell ae oe ue. Had no idea they were french or at least pronounced french. A. Lange und Söhne refers to A. Lange hand his sons (plural). If you pronounce it without the e at the end it sounds like Sohn wich refers to a single son. German lesson over :D
HackiH Swiss German prononciation differs from High German but you would be right if the brand was German
The best use for a chrono: making the right sized gap on a mountain pass you so can banzai run it! damn tourists...
You guys forgot the TAG/Heuer Monza
as a vintage 911 driver, I wear 50s-70s chronos...
They only made 150 Swatch Hodinkees? Better safe queen mines ;)
I have lil beotch wrists so the Monaco seems cool to me lol
Heuer Monza
Sinn is it's own company
5 mins into the show and dude what does it have to do with watchmaking
You are a lefty and wear your watch on your right. You and the vast majority of TH-cam automobile journalists it seems.
Scott Harter also, Vladimir Putin!
lol, "longa uns one"?
you need help guys hehehe..
Who is the theme by? Anybody in particular or some generic free to use music?
NartexFett it was written by a friend of mine, I own the license
Obviously, also the Heuer Monza.
Left handed but why do you have your mouth to your right hand then?
I can't stand the Beatles.
