    ive had mine for almost 2 years now. contracts up next month, im not impress, that for the same money i can get a less powerful device. ill probably install linageos, ive had it on the moto nexus device, and the galaxy s6. Makes a huge differnece in performance ive found, or pay big upfront, and have a much larger bill and get something like a samsung ultra device that will be really locked down for custom rom.

    Battery swelling is the result of either bad or old battery, or using many many hours while charging at same time. Out of more than 30 smartphones I have, only one battery swelled on a phone used all day long to stream videos to tv while plugged in and charging. Peace

    • @CButler
      @CButler  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for the info . yeah this is the first time that ever happened to a smartphone i owned. I kept it plugged into the dual case for months at a time. I think that caused the issue and also your right it could be the battery was too old

    • @tamwilfred
      @tamwilfred ปีที่แล้ว

      I never use phones that are plugged in or make sure the phone doesn't get super hot. I am a tech nerd so I have a few phones I rotate between when one is charging. I usually don't charge above 80% as well. If you don't keep your phones for more than two years then using it whatever way you want is fine.

    I'm on my third. The first: I tossed it. The face hit a dumbbell weight and got scratched. Not a hard drop at all (so much for gorilla 6). I finished it off with sledgehammer Watched it fizzle out. The second: The screen went black but the functionality remained return to eBay got a refund ,(97.00).
    The third: (135.00 also eBay). I've had it for little over a month now. Noticed in the last day that on power up the AT&T sound is not happening which is what brought me here. 😌
    ***GOOD SURPRISES***
    Even though the specs for this phone doesn't list it as 5G, it is, when powering on to AT&T network (all three).
    Able to update to Android 12. It takes a while maybe even a day. Don't get discouraged because it takes a hell of a long time between 10 and 11 if I recall correctly..

    I have one of these and this is fucking terrifying. Why in the hell would they release these with a low quality battery that is susceptible to swelling issues after only one year of use? You've got me paranoid that this damned thing is going to blow up in my pocket or something.

      Everyone company has a defect rate on goods made. Sometimes it might be 1% or 0.07%. Defects come up. Sometimes it could the conditions that the battery was put through. I know my Surface Pro 4 battery swoll up because of bad thermal design.

    Please don't take this the wrong way, it's constructive criticism. I've watched a few of your videos, helped me make informed decision on LG, so thank you. But you literally repeat the same exact points over and over and over and over again, it's tiresome. Another video you had, forget which one, you repeated the same point I counted 7 times, turning a video that could've been 5-7 minutes into 20+ minutes. Just a recommendation to stop doing that.

    • @tamwilfred

      It might depend on which branded model you might have. I think I got a Verizon model or I popped in a Verizon sim and it changed it over to Verizon branded software. LG made some sort of commitment to give three full OS updates to recent LG smartphones. I just checked out of the blue and got the Android 12 update. 12 is most likely the last update the G8 will get. You might get an extra OS update if you get the 2020 LG phones like the V60, wing, or Velvet.
