I think there's a feeling that people who live entirely off of tube. Is different that videos of your work or your business. People sitting in the snow going to work at 5am. Is different than deciding what island you want to go to. Not just your channel. I see the resentment on other channels that people live solely off TH-cam. TH-cam gravy train maybe coming to an end for a lot of people. I think I would have a backup plan. I'm still a thumbs up with you guys. I watch every one of your videos.
7:00 o'clock bedtime. Last thing I'll see today. What I'm sure will be another masterpiece theater of Ruthie!! Laying in bed with the world turned off. Here we go. Thank you so much, Ruthie. 💯💯❤️❤️
Thanks for the hull info! I've never actually thought of that part; when the living area is basically under water, the climate keeps closer to water temp. This notion surely goes into the decision making process. Not calling it a "design", yet, definitely not a "plan" either. And your editing is so good, it still goes unnoticed. Studio quality sound, timing marks are spot on and the story flows so good, these films feel like five minute long.
When it comes to the over all quality of your videos, lately you've been batting a thousand, with frequent homers. I rate this one as a stand-up RBI triple. I really do not care that you are exhausting my supply of superlatives.
Ruth, I shared this tip once before and you may have missed it so here we go. There is a simple natural way to prevent those bugs from biting you that I used to keep even flies away. Get a small spray bottle, fill it with warm water and add three to five drops of spearmint or peppermint essential oil to it, shake well and spray all over yourself. Insects hate the smell of these oils and stay away. If you sweat or rub it off reapply, it’s great.
Thank you for talking about the tides and currents in the Northern SOC. Yours is one of the only channels to mention it. Some guide books do but your real world experience is valuable...( Maybe other channels do as well but I don't follow many between boat refit and work). Grateful for the bread crumbs guys!!
If you have alot of bees try collecting them ..bee testicles in olive oil with a pinch of seasoning make a fantastic pasta for sandwiches or if you collect alot there great in morning roasted then let them cool then add a splash of milk on your honey nut flakes xx
Ahoy Salt & Tar crew! Loving this episode and all the Ruthie time. It's always a pleasure to see your adventures unfold. Also, a belated Happy Thanksgiving to all of you. Stay safe out there, and don't let those pesky bugs get you down. Remember to stay positive and keep sailing forward. Thank you for consistently providing us with sailing masterpieces like this. Fair winds!
Being a Florida resident, I can attest that hurricane predictions should be taken with a grain of salt, although the tracking forecasts have improved vastly in the last 10 years. Still, they seem to have a mind of their own.
Hi again. another worth while wait for this weeks video. Hope you didn't get stung by a bee. I'll be here watching next week. Fair winds and good seas.
Feels like there must be some kind of fly-screen/netting you could use to help keep the bees out? When you think of problems cruisers might face, the mind doesn't immediately jump to "bees"!
I feel for you guys with those bugs ,I recently moved to a place in the US very rural and experienced what are know as Chiggers being from Cleveland Ohio I was taken by surprise They tore me up So I feel for you those Damn biting bugs just the worst , take care and stay positive you Guys
Ruth, I feel for you and the bites. Do you know that if you have bicarbonate of soda, you can make a paste- just add water and apply to the bites, it soothes the inflammation and reduces the itch.
Thx. Incense ? for the bugs? I had similar bug bite story.... 80 bites each leg +... I Feel for the misery you endured. Awesome vid, Your smiles are much needed in this troubled world. 😀
I don't blame you at all for making way outta Fly Island Sound.. and hey i remember baggy wrinkles on the Schooner Stephen Taber sailing the Penobscot Bay in Maine.. You three (Rediviva included) would love sailing there.... I made baggy wrinkles out of 8" hemp thrum lenghts for mg dads Hereschol wanna be glass 12.5' tank bark sail sloop.
Ruthie! They bit the heck out of you and you can’t be blamed for buggin’ out. You are a very uncomplaining woman. Every one reacts differently to bug bites and it appears that whatever they were, you reacted badly to them and your crew mates are much better off. Thanks for sharing all of your adventures.
We get some big ones in Australia 39ft in King Sound in the NT. Also we have a product in Oz called Stingose great for most bitting and stinging creatures or Create an essential oil spray using eucalyptus, mint, lemon or camphor.
My guess is that Ruthie is in the type O spectrum since the bugs love her so much. Yes, insects prefer type O's, LOL, look it up. Since it can be so hard to resist scratching, keep some Witch Hazel on the boat, it really helps to heal and stop the itching. Advice from another human that gets eaten alive by bugs every season.
Ruth, the only way I could deal with the no-seeums is to use clear nail polish dabs that covers them and doesn’t permit any air from getting through. They were the bain of my existence when they would blossom out of nowhere. I was sweet meat for them. Also, keep a fan on ya as they can’t compete with the air currents. Best of luck to you.
I used Bruce anchors in the Chesapeake Bay. Had dragging issues. My understanding is that the Bruce is better in rock. I found that a 22 lb. Delta was sufficient for my 3 ton little boat. The Spade or Rocna may be the best, but are more expensive.
Spent a bit of time in Santa rosalia.... Very cool and unexpected little town of French architecture from when it was a French mining town. The main Church there was designed and built in France by Eifel of the Eifel Tower Fame, then disassembled, brought to Santa rosalia. Also the town closes down all day, opens up about ten pm and jumps till daylight....a very worthy spot to wyle away some days.... Will make for some nice video....
Kinsey has to be solely responsible for a few extra thousand views. She's probably getting popular by now. Work it!! She's hot and hilarious. Let her help to build the views and likes. Kinsey is TH-cam good. I love all of you. I'll never stop watching. Ever!! Stay safe, please!!
Would you guys ever consider building another short cabin top at the rear? It would look pretty cool with a long tiller reaching over so you helm in between cabin tops. And it would give you a proper back cabin.
Benadryl for a systematic effect. The antihistamine should alleviate some of the itch and swelling Tooth paste or calamine lotion for topical relief. Pour some vinegar in a bowl or a cup, then put a couple of drops of dish-washing liquid in, swirl the fluid to mix it some without causing bubbles. Then set it in a troublesome area. If no-see-ums are really your scourge, the tiny biting flies should start landing in the vinegar mix and drowning there by the scores. Also rubbing a drier sheet on your skin helps prevent bites. As does Avon Skin So Soft. Tried and true remedies.
Yet another awesome segment despite all the bugs and bug bites. It makes me wonder if a DIY Apple Cider Vinegar trap would fend off the bugs and the apple cider vinegar would help with the scratching/burning?
Those swarming bees reminded me of the damned Yellow jackets at my local dump this summer. Never seen anything like it. Seems like bees of all types were overpopulated this year all over the place.
Toothpaste helps the itch. Definitely no see ums! Where do you think you will be around new years? My family and I are coming down in a bus after Christmas!
Hi guys, wow it looks such a beautiful place but it’s not a beautiful place for Ruth that’s getting Alive there’s nothing worse than getting bitten by flies, sandflies, horseflies, etc etc. There’s plenty other beautiful places for you guys to travel to so enjoy your trip and hopefully no body. There , Cliff from Logan City Queensland Australia
I don't understand the fixation or fascination with sailing back and forth in Mexico, do more go further, there is more to the world than where you are, it's a bit like you are stuck in a gyre not able to do anything else except wander around the Baja.
Find Shea Butter..gives me fast repair..& at times has immediately provided relief..& get busy making your screen- outs- simple- sewing machine- screen material- border material- velcro..& perhaps snap buttons🎐

Your humbleness is so striking. I have been watching your videos for two years now. You are amazing! Thank you.
Paradise - rolling seas, wind from the wrong direction, biting flies, bees, itching skin, catching skipjack.
7:00 o'clock bedtime. Last thing I'll see today. What I'm sure will be another masterpiece theater of Ruthie!! Laying in bed with the world turned off. Here we go. Thank you so much, Ruthie. 💯💯❤️❤️
Excellent vlog, thanks Ruthie. Superb story-telling and the highest quality editing … you guys are awesome. 🎉😊
So far, of all the builds I have followed, y'all are the only one I follow after launch.

There is a product called “After-bite” comes in a dobber tube that really does the job! Has ammonia in it.
I’ll second that, the stuff works fast too.
😎👍🍻
I'll 3rd that. It's good stuff!! Though don't know how it would keep up. When your whole body is a bug bite!? Ha!
Nice video. Those biting bugs and bees would drive me nuts but, didn't look like the bees were too bothersome. Thanks for sharing...
If you have alot of bees try collecting them ..bee testicles in olive oil with a pinch of seasoning make a fantastic pasta for sandwiches or if you collect alot there great in morning roasted then let them cool then add a splash of milk on your honey nut flakes xx
Smoke calms most bee,s
Happy Thanksgiving to one and all.

Delos had to bail on a spot in the sea of cortez for the same reason. Living in southern louisiana i feel your pain ruthie!
Kinsey makes my heart go boom boom boom🥰
stop it. she won't appreciate that sort of comment.
Amazing adventure
Happy Thanksgiving you'll 😊
I really enjoyed the music this week.
Great video
I used Bruce anchors in the Chesapeake Bay. Had dragging issues. My understanding is that the Bruce is better in rock. I found that a 22 lb. Delta was sufficient for my 3 ton little boat.
The Spade or Rocna may be the best, but are more expensive.
So, it's not all fair winds and following seas. I hate biting bugs because they like me best. Thanks for the video.
W0W!
Kinzie is Soooooo Incredibly CUTE 😊
Bug bites I understand, good luck girl.
Thank you from Berea Kentucky!✌️

good luck, AND GOD BLESS
My Anti-Bug recommendation is include a LOT of garlic in your diet . . . . keeps people from 'bugging' you so much as well ! !
Another great episode guys fair winds !!

Lemon balm tea helps repel bugs.repelent bendiciones...m
Ouch!🦟
😀😀👍👍👍❤❤ Thank you.
You should of swam in the ocean to help dry out those bug bites!
At first I thought it was hurricane Norma. But, a little farther back ?
What piece of music was used beginning at 3:28 Ruth? I love your music selections.
Love it so much keep it up as always 💘
❤ I can serve the beers 😂
Yet another awesome segment despite all the bugs and bug bites. It makes me wonder if a DIY Apple Cider Vinegar trap would fend off the bugs and the apple cider vinegar would help with the scratching/burning?
Get you some calamine lotion. Does wonders to relieve the itch
i remember when you were building the deck/cabin you changed your plans of a wider/larger cabin to wider deck...
would you do it again?
benadryl and zyrtec 🤙🏻
Those swarming bees reminded me of the damned Yellow jackets at my local dump this summer. Never seen anything like it. Seems like bees of all types were overpopulated this year all over the place.
Wish I could send you some comfrey to help with the bites. If you can get some pennyroyal or eucalyptus bugs hate those. Those noseeums are miserable
I don’t understand how you guys deal with all of those bees!!!
It seems that some people are badly affected by insect bites and others not so much. Some Calamine lotion would be good to have on hand.
Toothpaste helps the itch. Definitely no see ums! Where do you think you will be around new years? My family and I are coming down in a bus after Christmas!
Hi lad's 👋 another brilliant video , what part of the world does linsey come from? she has an unusual 1😅
You meant you scratch the bites, the bites itch making you think scratching is the solution but that salt water will take out the itch!🤯🛫
White vinegar will produce a short burn then you will "bee" better.
Bee safe. Lol
Great content. I see you are two months behind on this video and presume therefore three months behind real time.
Have you tried Calamine lotion. It cools everything down. Love your vlogs
Do you have a ships bell? Would you like one?
Calamine lotion😊
Somebody, please get those Sailors a real fillet knife!!! Bronto
I hope they are friendly bees ... :-(
I'd have to be pretty darn hungry to eat skip jack. Just sayin
How do you deal with the Bee's and Mosquito's spoiling the joy of cruising? Happy Thanksgiving!
isn't that the "Salsipuedes" Canal? That literally translates into "Getoutifyoucan" Canal.
Invest and stock, DEET!
👌👌👍👍
Cover up till they heal a bit, buggars
In my experience, jacks are not good for eating. . . . .
baby oil and disifeacket IS GOOD migy bite and stopping them sucker and when you jump in for free soap
Comment
Do not get fly bites. Eat garlic pills.
🇦🇺🌮👍
OMG 😱 the mexican flag, 😢

It’s called surviving the risks of hurricane season, buddy. Once the season ends, they’ll move …
Find Shea Butter..gives me fast repair..& at times has immediately provided relief..& get busy making your screen- outs- simple- sewing machine- screen material- border material- velcro..& perhaps snap buttons🎐
Y’all should mix in some deck chairs, doesn’t look too comfy when lounging, maybe it’s me…I have a bad back
I agree, the boat looks so uncomfortable.
Isla. Eye-la!
Great video
