- A small but impressive Russian naval flotilla has navigated pretty close to the United States.
The Yasen-M class nuclear-powered cruise missile submarine Kazan along with Project 22350 frigate Admiral Gorshkov sailed to the Cuban capital Havana.
These two represent some of the most advanced assets deployed by Russia.
The two were accompanied by the heavy ocean-going tug Nikolai Chiker and the Project 23130 replenishment oiler Academic Pashin

The warship and submarine are their most modern ships, the Yasen-M is literally their newest and best submarine. Yet it's a sub and a frigate. Nobody is scared.

@@j.erickson8571 It probably is not. The ship is not designed to carry nuclear capable missiles. The submarine can carry nuclear capable cruise missiles but is unlikely to be carrying them to Cuba.

Was wondering the same myself, anything seaworthy and reliable wouldn't need that kind of support.
There is a reason that the ocean-going tug accompanied them is that they couldn't guarantee the other ships wouldn't break down. Russian subs are off the coasts of the US and Europe all the time. Big deal.

@@rhodium1096 Ukraine sunk the flagship cruiser in 2022 and Russia had to scuttle their only other cruiser in that fleet in 2014. The Black Sea fleet has no destroyers, 2 frigates overdue for retirement, one frigate which is damaged and probably beyond repair and a lot of vintage and support stuff.
The 'modern fleet' includes 2 frigates, 6 corvettes and several patrol craft, with their flagship being a Frigate (lol).
@@946towguy2 you are wrong man!..first of all Moskova cruise was an old soviet ship closely to be put out of active service, Ukraine has never sunk frigates and corvette of the Blacksea fleet armed with Kalibr cruise missile, Spy ships, Krivat class frigates and EWS/Elint, Submarines, they only damage and are under repair a Corvette Karakurt which was under construction and the Rostov Subs which was under modifications. Ukraine just damage or sunk old Ropucha class, and old tarantul class, a patrol boat and nothing else!

One smallboy that brings a tug along because it's highly probable that the frigate will break down, as Russian ships are wont to do, and a sub that is being shadowed by US subs it can't detect. Yes, quite the impressive show of force; I hope our Coast Guard doesn't mistake them for drug smugglers and accidentally sink them. At least the oiler might make it back.

The Russians have shown that they have the second most powerful navy in the Black Sea. Ukraine doesn't even have a navy. It seems that a jetski beats a Ruski.

The Americans are currently getting a good look at Russian missile capabilities in Ukraine and it doesn't look good for Russia:)
Yasen M = 10 x 4 VLS for Kalibr, Zircon, Onyx ( 40 missile) half of the with nuclear warhead.
Frigate 22350 = 4 x 4 VLS for Klibr, Zircon, Onyx ( 16 missile).
The frigate has 6x8 VLS for 48 missiles.
The sub has 10VLS and 8 torpedo tubes with up to 16 extra torpedoes in storage. They aren't likely to be carrying any nukes on this trip, especially if they are going into port.
