Great content, more please! I think both options are valid, but so are pykes without personnel upgrades and just the disruptor as well. I really like the internal balance of the pyke upgrades right now. The capo personnel just makes the unit feel reeeally good with that extra bit of firepower and courage 2, but it's a luxury which you gotta pay for. I do agree with your point that even if the regular personnel pykes only get a one time use aim, the first attack is arguably the most impactful. So it's not like having only one aim is 17% as good as having one every round, I'd say it's significantky higher. Same thing with the mandos cache surge 2.
I like to call the pykes with no capo or footsoldier "baby Pykes" and I totally agree on the point about internal balance, it's lamentable that compared to other extra body upgrades they are so far above the curve. That's a great point about the first attack being the most impactful, generally I save caches for those times where the upside is very likely (like the blank/surge on the disruptor red), I don't spend them on the first attack, possibly a mistake there
@@yavinbase oh yeah I mean I think it's a mixture between spending the aim early and spending it where it counts. If I shoot inte heavy cover and only roll 1 hit there's no way I'm spending that aim! Love the baby pykes!
Solid editing on this video it takes a lot of effort to do it this way and I appreciate it. Sometimes it went a little fast like I couldn’t absorb a lot the numbers as it was being presented but overall I understood what you’re talking about good video can’t wait to see more
When the points update hit I advocated swapping out capo upgrades for foot soldier upgrades since the cost is literally two for one and you gain an additional wound to your overall list. I still think it’s a good swap but I also believe a bus with tactician to be perhaps an even better bargain at 16. You’ll get an average of two aims per round from the bus for a theoretical 18 (give or take variance) per game. This is what I’ll be taking to Cherokee so I suppose we will see if my calculations are correct.
Just a tactician and medic. No guns. Guns on busses arnt good anymore because you’ll never get an open shot with the new cover rules these days. And I f you don’t have a gun, you don’t need a gonk to keep you alive because people fail to see the value you offer (delivery and body blocking) until it is too late.
I've wondered the same thing. I mostly use the 16pt heavy laser to plink off enemy standby tokens (though this is unreliable unless you have bus control) - canny players know to shoot the bus if it isn't gonked and they have impact - i'm thinking about blizzard force in particular
I have been running Gar, bossk, pykes a lot recently pretty good results. I have found cutting out Capo unit upgrades allows me to get a lot more bodies in the squads which has been really helpful and like you said the suppression can be mitigated easily enough.
I really love the way that Gar and Bossk support one another, I'm just not sure what can stand up to Blizzard Force and Dark Troopers in the rest of the list
@@yavinbase yeah those are box tough. With 6 6-man pykes squads with lead by example I am usually able to weather the storm but if I lose Gar or Bossk I don't really have the punch to hit back. I like that you have one BSE in there I am going to try them out and see how that works for me

Thanks for the tips! I've got to get back to making this sort of content more often

Is that bus just with a tactician? I usually load my buses up with a gonk to help it survive longer.
