Aron Ra is unique in so many ways, beyond the fact that he is an Atheist. he proves constantly that morality has nothing to do with religion. his being a loving and caring pet owner shows this. and his patience, and concern, and his ability to communicate with all types of people. even if they don't agree with with his viewpoints is outstanding. and his philosophy is fantastic. Even though religion always persecutes and declaims falsehoods so vehemently, it seems to be the real falsehood itself. Atheists may be animated by that same spirit of righteousness against what's plainly false

Its like this in canada too. People blame everything on our prime minsiter who has none of the dictator powers presidents do. They are just a bunch of whiny snowflakes who dont understand that everything they accuse the left of is something they got caught doing.
Im from Alabama and I am die hard athiest. I agree with how Aron Ra defines how and why he feels the way he does. Once you give yourself the opportunity to see just how nonsensical and irrational religion is. You then realize just how scary it is. Especially when you see that we have people running this country who would rather govern the country by irrational means, and trying to change what kids are being taught because you think this world was created by a higher being. And even if there was a higher being that is beyond space and time. It is 1000% neither one of the gods of any of these religions. I would bet my life completely on that fact. I was more of an angry, irritated, evil, lying person when I was a believer. Once I let that go. I became enlightened with truth. And I don't give a damn what anyone thinks about me or what they say. I know that religion WILL fade into the history of human existence. I believe that religion is just something we go through as a species. And eventually as we evolve through time. We will become a unified species because we will finally understand a realize that we are alone on this speck of dust. Its what the religious fear the most. And that is the fact there really is no god. And that dosnet mean our lives have no meaning. Maybe not to an afterlife. But the here and now! No one is saying you should just go out and use drugs and drink, have sex till your infested. No one is saying you have to kill, murder or whatever label we as humans put on something that we already know os wrong because we are a social species. And we want to thrive. It is really sad to see children that believe these things. Do you want the children of the world, growing up to believe in an imagination trick? Cause that is exactly what it is.

Taking Philosophy in University in the 90s taught me that an atheist is one who has no belief in God. The text book indicates this is from the Philosopher Paul Kurtz on page 20. It also indicates "more militaint" atheists claim no God exists as Aron Ra says Philosophers do. The textbook is Philosophy Paradox and Discovery 4th Edition. - Thomas A. Shipka, Arthur J. Minton I have mostly only encountered the negative definition from apologists in recent years though I have encountered many who call themselves agnostic but use the definition of atheist. My understanding is that agnostic is a statement of knowledge, not belief. I try to have those I discuss amd debate these things with define their terms before I engage because people do define their terms in very different ways. Ask yourself this, if you believe in God but can't define it, is it anymore than a slogan to you?
Interesting factoid: in the contiguous United States Texas doesn’t have the longest drive across the state. I’m talking Louisiana to New Mexico. It takes longer to drive from southern Michigan at the border with Indiana or Ohio to Wisconsin. It can take 14 hours, and that’s on a good day.
I'm an atheist and I actually completely understand what the host said when he said he was sometimes afraid to say that he is atheist. My reason for feeling afraid is the threat of physical violence & harassment. It goes without saying that in my experience almost 99% of all religious people even when they're gently challenged become aggressive. Also, there are countries in the world where you should not , just should NOT say your are atheist. You keep that to yourself for your own safety. As someone who's traveled extensively I can say this without hesitation. There are also some countries that have specific laws against insulting religion. And in these countries the native people can point a finger at you and accuse you of this without evidence and you will be taken away. Don't take the freedoms we have in the West to speak out like this for granted! Great interview and channe,l thanks!

The dogs were a good high note to finish up on to leave the viewer with the warm fuzzies and feel-goods.

You didn't bother to learn the name of your guest or what organisation he's a part of, and that was outside of the live part! You had all the time in the world to at least learn to pronounce his name (pronounced like the initialism for "registered nurse", R.N.)!
I really wanted to achieve dialogue with God. I remember how, in the late stages of my religiousness, some of my thoughts started to seem as if it was God talking to me. I was very aware of the illusion and I was like "crap, it's just my thought sounding like the voice of God" and I prayed on in hopes of actually hearing from him. At that time it didn't occure to me that those who hear God actually hear themselves but think it's God. I knew Christianity was no conart so I had no reason to think that someone would try to dream God up.
There are a lot of religious practices like contemplative mysticism, ritual trance, ecstatic dance, spirit boards, pendulums, hypnogogic induction, and the use of hallucinogens or psychedelics as entheogens that amplify that voice in some way. That doesn't touch on how prevalent other forms of divination were in ancient times that were a lot less direct, either. The Abrahamic traditions think their answered prayers are somehow different from the mystical incantations and divination methods of other religions, but they all use the same fundamental mechanisms.
Hear that! Well since Aron is in Dallas and so is our studio, since we moved from Austin, We’ll try to get him in studio for our next interview. I would also like to meet him in person.
Religions are like the discussions and theories about the future plot of a series/film. Everyone tries to guess how the story will turn out to be, but the problem is that those theorists try to write their stories as canon, when only the proper process of discovery through solid scientific inquiries can clear what the plot is
You don't have to tell anyone anything. Its personal. I never understand the need to tell people about their beliefs. Never comes up when I'm out and about.
Well, just to put this out there, Aron and I may not agree on every point, nor it it required. We can have that discussion, and still be friends. That being said, I studied computer logic, and he studied palaeontology, so our point of view is going to be very different. On the other hand, he seems to love little kittens just as much as I do, while my room mate would rather have his dog around than 20+ cats. That being said, I need to feed myself. Not to mention, there are 2 chickens, 2 opossums and a raccoon that come up to eat as well.

The biggest lier of all is the “holly spirit “ this is what keeps believers believing even when presented with the evidence. Because their rationality rests on the saying of the holly spirit which is their own saying and they don’t see why is it that the holly spirit always agree with their way of thinking.

i have seen fairies before. when I was a child and i would go to my mothers aunts house I would wake up in the middle of the night and see what looked like a little boy who would pull my blanket. When i woke up in the morning he would not be there and my family would ask me why i can never sleep at my aunts house. I used to be scared of all the porcelain dolls in another aunts house. I was worried her matryoshka dolls would attack me.

I don’t personally know any that do. Of course, we all have unsubstantiated beliefs; I do my best to minimize them, but I may not be as systematic at it as Aron Ra and Matt Dillahunty seem to be.
You get a sense of joy from being appreciated, yet you condemn God for wanting to be appreciated and praised by us, when that’s really all we even have to offer him.
@@mike-u5y7t I'm not talking about the "nice" part and only in part about the "knowledgeable" part. I'm more referring to "the gold standard." I'm a theist and I've watched lots of atheist personalities on youtube. In my opinion, Aaron Ra is near the bottom of the list when it comes to atheists apologists. I think his only strength is his memory and therefore his ability to list facts. This makes him sound really good when he is debating biological evolution with a Young Earth Creationist, because that battle is really just a battle of evidentiary support and all you need to do is lay out the facts and let them speak for themselves. But I put Aaron in the "bafoon" category. The lead rock that sinks to the bottom, because if you take him away from listing facts and accept intellectual honesty, the ability to reason through abstract thoughts, and defend his worldview he absolutely collapses. All he knows what to do well is lay out the evidences for evolution and then in a witty way make a caricature of God, of theists and their beliefs. I'm afraid that if you think Aaron is a gold standard then you haven't really watched many other atheist videos. Matt Dilluhunty is heads and tales above Aaron Ra. Cosmic Skeptic/Alex O'Connor is heads and tails above Matt Dilluhunty. Tony from "How Creationism Taught Me Science," who focuses on Young Earth Creationists like Aaron does, does a better job then Aaron.
And one other thing, God says not to test him, except in the area of finances, he directly challenges you to test him, to give tithing a try and see what happens. And they do and their financial health improves markedly. Many instances of that, including my own financial health story. It’s results like that that you are up against, the experience people have of their life improving when they turn to Jesus. And personal experience is going to trump anything you can come up with because it offers relief that atheism doesn’t.
I have respect for those who want to and keep an animal as a pet. I, myself do not chose to have a pet. I can't see having to take care of said pet on a daily basis. A child at least grows up.
The Jedi believed that the dark side of the force is inherently discordant, and that its presence disrupts the harmony of the light side of the force. So what they meant by bringing balance to the force was essentially a crusade and an inquisition. Despite the pantheistic concept of the Force and the references to meditation, Star Wars is ultimately more akin to Christian Dualism than Daoism
That was a later interpretation. Lucas made it very clear that in his mind the jedi are right about everything. You might disagree with that idea (so do I) and explain the movies from a different paradigm in consequence, but authorial intent is clear.

Ok, so I want to apologize for complaining about your intro and commercials earlier! You gotta keep the show going! Please forgive me! This was one of the best shows I e seen about atheism I’ve seen so far!
Nice conversation. 👍🏽
Glad you enjoyed it!
As the host of the show...Thank you! 🙏🏼
What a great show….Aron Ra is the man, and the host did a fantastic job…so honest.
Wow. I relate to being deeply embarrassed about my past profound religious experiences that I now know were all in my mind.
Thank you for watching!
I had some unusual experiences. But years later, I realized I had not the ego to ever assume God was behind them. I didn't have any easy explanation for them.
Show this in any school in the US and religion will dissolve very quickly.
Good point - thanks for the comment!
No it wouldn't. You can't use logic and reason against faith and ignorance.
@@steveanton763 I understand you.
The indoctrination runs very deep. But look at the younger generations with their way of looking things up. No more listening to a dude at the front of a church or a bible school, but open their Smartphone where they have access to the WHOLE world.
And look at Northern Europe. But then you need a clear separation between church and state to start with.
It is tragic that teachers are not allowed to teach critical thinking skills. Teachers get fired for even remotely being Socratic towards the status quo in many parts of the US.
Great chat!⚘💯💙

Next atheist guest could be any of the presenters of _The Atheist Experience_ which is based in Austin. My preference would be Matt Dillahunty.
We are working on getting Matt for our upcoming season in the new year. Stay subscribed and look out for that interview!

I have been an Atheist for many years. and consider myself to be a confirmed Atheist. which means I will be an Atheist untill the day I die. and Aron Ra makes me still strive to to be a better Atheist everyday. it's true you can be a an Atheist and still be a great person and don't let anyone tell you otherwise.

Even though religion always persecutes and declaims falsehoods so vehemently, it seems to be the real falsehood itself. Atheists may be animated by that same spirit of righteousness against what's plainly false
Very profound statements here. These and more should be in printable format for beginners in our journey to emancipation.

Greetings to you from San Francisco 😂
"I know that religion WILL fade into the history of human existence"
That's what I did believe too
by the end of the sixties religion would all but gone
Imagine that
Imagine there's no heaven
It's easy if you try
No hell below us
Above us, only sky
Imagine all the people
Livin' for today
Ah
Imagine there's no countries
It isn't hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion, too
Imagine all the people
Livin' life in peace
You
You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will be as one
Imagine no possessions
I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger
A brotherhood of man
Imagine all the people
Sharing all the world
You
You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will live as one

"We can throw rocks... and there's FIFTY of us."
Really love that.
Minton
I have mostly only encountered the negative definition from apologists in recent years though I have encountered many who call themselves agnostic but use the definition of atheist. My understanding is that agnostic is a statement of knowledge, not belief.
I try to have those I discuss amd debate these things with define their terms before I engage because people do define their terms in very different ways. Ask yourself this, if you believe in God but can't define it, is it anymore than a slogan to you?
Hmm, well said. Thank you for your comment!

Thank you for the addition!
Well put - thank you so much for watching, glad you enjoyed!
The problem with modern atheism is that it was captured by the left and now the term carries all types of ridiculous connotations and assumptions

In general, I'm an agnostic, but I'm an atheist when it comes to the God of the Bible, Allah, Yahweh, Zeus, Romulus, Osiris, or other man-made gods.
Thanks for watching!
So, in general, you don't know anything, not even your own name?

Religions are like the discussions and theories about the future plot of a series/film. Everyone tries to guess how the story will turn out to be, but the problem is that those theorists try to write their stories as canon, when only the proper process of discovery through solid scientific inquiries can clear what the plot is
Well stated - thank you for your comments!
You don't have to tell anyone anything. Its personal. I never understand the need to tell people about their beliefs. Never comes up when I'm out and about.
It's usually one's family and extended family members and friends that will give one the most pain regarding one's beliefs.

@@mike-u5y7t I'm not talking about the "nice" part and only in part about the "knowledgeable" part. I'm more referring to "the gold standard."
I'm a theist and I've watched lots of atheist personalities on youtube.
Excellent discussion.👍

And one other thing, God says not to test him, except in the area of finances, he directly challenges you to test him, to give tithing a try and see what happens. And they do and their financial health improves markedly. Many instances of that, including my own financial health story. It’s results like that that you are up against, the experience people have of their life improving when they turn to Jesus. And personal experience is going to trump anything you can come up with because it offers relief that atheism doesn’t.

The "jedi" weren't exactly the good guys. the theme was to to bring balance to the force, not to destroy the dark side
@@howlrichard1028 so just like all the hero mythology that he was referencing, the intended plot doesnt make any sense to the claims from the authority
