- Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare 2 will be receiving an Anti-Cheat that I think does more harm than good, and I complain about it. The update releases in March, but we got details about it officially released earlier today.
This video is pretty short because I made in a short time period, I wanted to complain now and not later.

It’s not a bad game, it just fails to meet expectations in many ways.
I still prefer BFN over the other two games. I just like almost everything about it more.

Just wanna remind everyone that when this anticheat was added to FIFA it did a better job preventing legit players from playing than actually banning cheaters.
Oh boy if they are not willing to give good updates to FIFA there is little hope for GW
They were going strong with disabling cheats online. However, i don't think private play needed to be affected by this
Furthermore, the execution of the anti cheat is horrid.

This is very disappointing news for me because I'm working on a project reminiscent of the Community Portal events. I was finally starting to grasp on the game's logic and AI behaviors. I had plans to release it around Garden Warfare's 10th anniversary and the second game's 8th anniversary, as a way for players to take a break from skid-infested lobbies.
I guess my creativity peaked a little too late...

Console Player here, I'm going to share this video to spread as much awareness as I possibly can.
This game and it's playerbase doesn't deserve this treatment and I don't want an entire community of talented people to go completely extinct.

This was what I was thinking! I’ve seen their anti-cheat with PvZ BFN and I thought this would be a complete disable for mods!
Btw soft lock exploit also a thing on GW1 and BFN but it ain’t getting patched at all there lol.

its a double edged sword, it stops skids and it stops you from being able to mod anything
Its a double edged sword except one of the edges is hella dull and made of rusting and corroding metal because skids will find a way to bypass this
Trust me skids are dedicated to ruining the game they will bypass it within a month
Bro skids will find one niche exploit and completely ignore any security features you but because their dads left when they were 4 and their moms dropped them and hit the *_thinking about other people’s existence_* part

I’m not going to lie, I didn’t really care that much about not using mods for gw2, BUT I’m now pissed because I play gw2 on steam deck and I am NOT LOSING MY PROGRESS.
I installed windows 11 on steam deck because a lot of games i play use anti cheat and the performance is almost the same, you just need to remove a lot of trash that microsoft adds to windows and it runs well enough

Except they’ll just find a way to by pass it. There are videos showcasing that kernel level anti-cheats just don’t work.
First of all, I’m just shocked they cared enough to update the game at all. Second of all, It sucks Even more bc this all happened JUST as ppl were going to try and revive It. Sucks that ea treats their games like this, considering how good they are, and it’s painful to know that now almost no one plays, nor knows those games anymore. Sorry for the long rant!
hope everyone realizes that the anti-cheats for most triple A games are at the kernal level as well like activisions Call of Duty Anti-Cheats, Apex's Anti-Cheats, Valorants Anti-Cheats.
a lot of anti-cheats are at a KERNAL level, its how they work to provide you a playable and enjoyable expierence without hacks or cheaters in your lobby.
This game is dead though.

I really hope the march update would not be mandatory. The mods are the only reason why I'm currently playing GW2 and without them I would get extremely bored because the vanilla versions of the offline game modes are extremely lame.
And even on multiplayer it can get a bit repetitive

- Hasnt had much of a major update in forever

I'm worried this update won't do much to stop the banning since all they need is a Kernel-level Cheat Engine and change the name of the application so they can bypass it. This anticheat will only make tools even more insecure by making them operate at the Kernel level and considering, the only thing that made me and a lot of other people interested to play this game anymore was the mods, so this also cuts off players too. But for now I have to see once the update rolls out before making a final opinion on this.

I remember tired of the cheaters online of this game and GW1 (GW2 was way more common), and stopped playing GW2. But as you said, this doesn't seems to be the best way to do it. And maybe they are just frustrating more players. But I'm tired of cheaters too. But isn't like this game had huge player base, so... Anyway, I liked way more GW1. It has more to do with the soul of the original PvZ.

this isnt that bad, it solves the cheating problem and ppr and mods like that going are just a small price to pay, multiplayer will be playable again and some ppl dont realize the only reason they are adding the anti cheat and nothing else is because the anti cheat is as simple as sliding in a few files that make sure the game isnt modified

I'm really hoping that EA and PopCap for once make a damn good decision, and decide to change the way the anticheat works to allow for offline modding.

The anticheat being allegedly sketchy is a fair point, but mods? Bro come on, such a dumbass reason to be crying over the update. EA is doing something so the game can hopefully remove cheaters and other shitty stuff and you are crying over not being able to mod the damn game? this is insane. If they don't want to add something back, that's their choice. Just be happy that they even cared about giving the anticheat a update.
nearly half of pc uses mods / have used mods at one point, and adding the anticheat was a bandaid fix because they couldnt fix the softlock exploit that was the reason they were having to update the game to begin with
@@Hey1mJay idk, this anticheat update seems like a fix to the exploit. If you can't play GW2 without mods and think it's more fun with mods, then you don't really enjoy GW2, this goes for any game. Games weren't made with it being modded in mind, in rare cases it is, but other then that, devs don't think of the mods the community is coming up with and a lot of devs don't want their games modded for what ever reason. Just suck it up, you clearly don't enjoy the game if you need to mod it for it to "be good"
I mentioned at the end of the video that it doesn't fix the exploit because you can simply not update and keep doing it. Also some mods were usually bug fixes / quality of life improvements, like Sound Mod fixing music bugs. @@ViolettSmith8438
But when using a out-of-date version of a game that EA no longer supports, you will no longer be able to play the game. So even if you don't update, you won't be able to play online.@@Hey1mJay

i know it sounds unpleasant but there's no way around it ,theres just too many hackers and cheaters that abuse the online multiplayer game
Drybonez is a modder and he’d completely ok with this. You paid 20 dollars to play this game in vanilla, and we’ve waited so long to have it finally free from hackers. This is a great trade off in his opinion, and I agree. Sure, hackers might find a way eventually, but this is a much easier way for them to identify and root out them from the game and servers will overall be restored. It sucks about the mods, yes, but trade-off’s like this are apart of life. I hope you understand where the majority of the shooterbase comes from :)

I much as I hate this update this doesn't ruin the game. Its still playable as intended (Play multiplayer without hackers), Fully functional, and fun.
This Anti-cheat is going to EVERY game they have made with frostbite
