Leaving Islam is like being reborn. It has been 2 years now and I see how much my life has become better and makes more sense. Islam is like tormenting your own...

    • @CabinInTheBigWoods
      @CabinInTheBigWoods 8 ปีที่แล้ว +17

It takes a great deal of courage to leave any religion, but a great deal MORE to leave islam. Religion is indeed a torment and islam is the most toxic and tormenting--not only to the Muslim, but the 'infidel' (lol) alike--as we all have to deal with the absurdity of an ideology that calls itself a peaceful, while exercising the most heinous, vile, and disgusting practices of them all.
Good for you! And welcome to the world of reason. I wish more ppl would experience a 'rebirth' such as yours. The world would be a better and safer place for everyone.
There is no need to believe in mysticism or super-natural nonsense--as the world can be explained through science--and not silly superstition.
Be safe! It's sad that leaving a religion can be hazardous to one's health/life, but we ALL know the serious dangers of apostasy in islam, despite the denial of any penalty of such. Religion poisons everything. Especially the mind. ✌🏼️

+MadBrainBox feelings (yes we are human not robots). dont hurt the feelings unless you have a really good reason to. We do not put up with kid/adult bullies and do not tolerate their behavior in school/work because of the adverse feelings they generate which cause lasting detrimental effects on the recipient. Similarly N words, insults to the lgbt community and insults like slut are deemed reprehensible BECAUSE they hurt feelings and may/do have a lasting and profound effect on PEOPLE. Culture/religion can be deeply held identities, indistinguishable from race in the sense that they are felt that they can not be changed. Then similarly, insulting culture and/or religion are emotionally lacerating that can have profound effects. All of this can be avoided by censorship. Freedom of speech is not absolute in other areas(eg, military, libel) , and in this area of feelings it makes sense to limit it.

A wonderful parroting of the Progressive studies textbook.
Now it is time to live in the real world.
Fuck religion. If someone from the same religion as you does something fucked up, Westboro Baptist or ISIS, it is the duty of the other members of that religion to get the radicals in check. Until that happens all Christians deserve blame for the idiots among their dogma and all Muslims deserve blame for the fucked up shit being done in the name of their religion.
If you don't want people to talk shit about your particular group then clean up the shit in your group. Plain and simple.
Of course in the case of Muslims (defined as adherents to the Islamic religion) it would also help if the majority of those living in non-Muslim countries didn't say they wanted to see Islamic law take precedence over the laws of the land they made the choice to move to. This includes Muslims in Europe and North America. When the majority wants an Islamic theocracy there will and should be pushback.

Why do you think that some scientific facts have been reported and was knew before, and all the scientist facts we found since are not in the coran even they are more important discovery. Do you think that the scientist fact in the coran has been bring by god with such of imprecision just to prove it has not been copied by humans? Listen i know the kind of person you are, we can bring you facts in front of you, you will always deny it. For embryology learn about Hypocrate, Aristote, 1000 years before the coran. For the earth , learn about Eratosthene, but people knew for example about solstice like New grange in Ireland since 5000 years, or in Maya culture, or chinese, etc...Maybe you should learn about about the Library of Alexandria 1000 years before the Coran . Learn about dinausaurs, okay the earth has not been created in 6days ! If you want interesting facts about mens learn about caves Chauvet, Lascaux, and compare to cave in south Africa in the same moment 40000 years before JC. And also if you are not denying everything, learn about Ayahuasca, dmt, Iboga. Stop to watch TV and be a consumer. Read books !

+George Smith Although the Quran is not a science book it was the inspiration that united the Arabs and kindled a light which spread learning throughout the world. That's part of history.
I accept science changes and verses can have different meanings and are often used by people to justify a particular point of view. Having said that, the Quran contains information on embryology that no human knew; something confirmed by renowned embryologist Keith Moore. It talks of the origin of all life as water. The expansion of the universe. The idea that time is relative. I could go on.
Therefore, the inclusion of such verses raises more questions than it answers.

+MrManBuzz Well, that depends a lot on which country we are speaking about. In Turkey you can be an Atheist openly and the law does nothing to you, although socially can be a bit of an issue, specially in certain regions.
In Assad's Syria Christian and Atheist minorities, aswell as different branches of Islam lived together with equal rights. And as long as Assad remains in power, this situation won't change.
I, myself, am an Atheist in Turkey and I state it in every conversation I have with local people where they ask me. I never had any trouble with it.

+666Maeglin hehe. That's very well the case, yes. maybe after a pair of generations Turkey will be fanaticised.
It's not looking good for secularists in the future. Erdoğan is flooding the TV channels with religious proselitising programs, and he's forcing Islam in schools to the point kids need to pass Islam exams to progress in their studies. It is getting to the ridiculous point that more old people think evolution is true than young people.
For now, very religious people are, in general, very tolerant towards others. Decades of culture of tolerance are hard to erase, indeed. But if things continue like this, I think it's just a matter of time until Turkish society polarizes into conflict.

Science is everything, Morty! And those of us smart enough to understand it can apply it to every aspect of our short, exciting, but all be it, meaningless lives. You could place blind hope or "faith" in something intangible. And lets be honest, completely irrational, and look towards the past for answers that are far beyond anything you'll find there.
But remember "history is written by the victor." and no one said what was written was true. Faith is no excuse for stupidity. And stupidity is no excuse for faith. We Atheist do not look towards the past to predict the future or search for anything more then whats there. We do it because we shouldn't forget our past. And we also shouldn't forget the lies and blood it was built upon. And it is our duty to try to build a better future from it. A future where we don't repeat the same mistakes over and over. A future where men don't prey upon each other for ideological differences. A future where we can flourish and thrive as a species.
Because no one belongs anywhere and exists for anything. It's up to us, The Human Race to provide meaning to the things and people around us, and that's what makes them so important. And Science is how we'll explain it. Because no one deserves to be lied to. By Gods or Man.

I love this woman. As an ex-Jehovah's Witness I sympathize with a lot of what she describes. This idea that women are not sentient beings capable of determining their own path in life, instead they are required to act a certain way, dress a certain way, they can't have the same roles as men. The general misogyny in these two religions is very obvious. Like Islam, you simply can't leave the Jehovah's Witness religion without consequences. Their policy of "shunning" means many people lose their families when they leave. So the parallels are there. Now the difference is that you don't have to fear for your life if you leave or speak out against the Jehovah's Witnesses like so many ex-Muslims do in so many parts of the world. It takes an enormous amount of courage to do what Miss Haider and the ex-Muslim community that supports her is doing.

I'm an atheist, a humanist and a freethinker too. I left Christianity when I realized that I could not approve of many of the things that were stated in the Bible (in both the old and new testament). Judaism, Islam, Hinduism and Buddhism don't like me either.
"Organized religion" for me is oppression. One thing is the "spiritual plane" that helps men and women every day and that has granted us an exquisite cultural and artistic legacy, in addition to numerous charitable social aid from various groups. Another thing is the "political plane" that encourages dogmatism from a state perspective and uses it as a political tool to control the people, or when children are taught as an unquestionable doctrine that makes them abhor those who do not think alike..
This is not to say that religions are not important and / or interesting from an academic point of view. Knowledge of all of them is necessary to understand the evolution of humanity through the centuries.
    Thanks Sarah for your testimony.

And whoever opposes Allah and His Messenger - indeed, Allah is severe in penalty." it stated he will cast terror into the hearts of the disbelievers who strive against Islam. not disbelievers in general.
      here are some interesting verses
33:48 "And do not obey the disbelievers and the hypocrites but do not harm them, and rely upon Allah. And sufficient is Allah as Disposer of affairs."
22:39 "Permission [to fight] has been given to those who are being fought, because they were wronged. And indeed, Allah is competent to give them victory."
28:59 "And never would your Lord have destroyed the cities until He had sent to their mother (capital city) a messenger reciting to them Our verses. And We would not destroy the cities except while their people were wrongdoers."
and there are plenty more. the internet is plagued with anti-Islamic propaganda of taking verses out of context. if you come across those, try reading them in context. you will get a very different understanding.

  • @dbzgal04

One of my biggest issues with Islam, is the fact that men are allowed to marry non-Muslims while women aren't, because the kids automatically (and must) follow their father's religion. Not only does this contradict the claim that religion isn't compulsory in Islam, but it also contradicts the claim that Islam is a religion of peace and love. Think about it, if Islam truly was a religion of peace and love, a woman's husband and kids would be accepted no matter what.
A couple other reasons (more like excuses) I've been given for this double-standard, is because "the man is the head of the house, and a Muslim household must not be headed by a non-Muslim (so much for gender equality if the man is automatically the head of the household merely because of XY chromosomes, and is very toxic because it indicates that Muslims are superior to everyone else)," and "it's to protect the woman, because a non-Muslim husband might abuse her and/or force her to do things which are un-Islamic." So in other words, all non-Muslim men are automatically untrustworthy, and a Muslim man being negatively influenced and led astray by a non-Muslim wife...totally not possible. SMH!
PS - Something else that's really frustrating, many times when speaking up about Islamic abuse and mistreatment of women and girls, I get comments like "all religions have extremists" and "Judaism and Christianity (and other faiths) are sexist too." BAH!!! So in other words, because "other religions are also misogynistic, not just Islam" we should just turn a blind eye to the abuses and struggles of Muslim women and girls, and not speak up for them. 😒🙄

I was felt as it I was a major disappointment like I dishonored the family I just keep my secret for 6 years until I turned 18 and moved out to New York I lived with my American aunt until i was financially stable I moved to LA where I decided to tell my parents I called them because I couldn’t faced them personally I felt shameful my boyfriend and best friend were next to me supporting me as I made the phone call and it took me 5 missed calls so they could finally answer and that when I told them “hey I am not......Muslim I wasn’t a Muslim for over 6 years ever since I was 13 i was lying infact I wasn’t Muslim even when I was 12 I was Christian but when I was 13 that’s when I became an atheist sooo...” she said I was going to hell and I am stupid and started to shout at me and Eventually she told me I wasn’t her child anymore and she was going to cut all ties with me and honestly ever since then I felt so free I could do whatever the fuck I wanna,YEAA no more rules.

@@nahean_nn it's still violence, it's still considers women inferior to men, what about gender equality ? Women's rights ? I have seen some were it says females intelligence in half to males intelligence. If we summarise those verses about women's life it show's they are meant to be in this world for men's help or company not for individual goals, now it makes sense why guardianship is seen.

I always see many ex Muslims and ex Christians who detail what they thought was false or harmful in their religion, and then say that's how they became atheists, but I've never understood the link.
For instance, I used to consider myself Catholic but received no religious education. When becoming adult I actually paid attention to the Christian dogma I realized I didn't agree at all with it. But it had no impact on my belief in a God. I simply realized I didn't believe in YHWH and that my idea of God was different.
I just don't really understand how rejecting a religion or even all religions can make someone an atheist and lose their previous belief in a God.
You're an atheist because you reject _all_ concepts of God, not because you reject religion/religions.
    Thoughts?

+Arya Isara The word Atheism has no meaning. When everyone in this world stops believing in a God, the word Atheism will be dead.. So who cares ?
We are all Individual human beings with our understanding of the world in our own ways. Every Atheist is an Agnostic and because one cannot be 100% sure about anything, This includes Non Existence of a God.

+Arya Isara I feel initially many people who start to call themselves atheists are in actually fact Anti-Theists. And even more specifically, Anti-Abrahamic-Theists. They reject the gods of the abrahamic texts. You are correct in saying that rejecting religion doesn't make you an atheist. But for the freshly emancipated believers, there is a learning curve. Over time people start to get more clear about what they actually believe, but at the beginning, it's a good start to say "I'm out!"

Indian Atheist They confuse Hindu with Indian?
There may also be confusion because there is an atheist school of thought in Hinduism, it's not a religion that rejects atheism and I've seen people identifying as atheist Hindus.

I haven't ever heard of "God " except from religious sources. It seems to me that if "God " existed outside of religious belief, there should be some evidence of "God " that would exist independent of any religion. There isn't.
For me, I started by rejecting the rituals first, (blood drinking and holy cannibalism seemed a bit odd ) Then the validity of the stories, (Three days in a fish) and finally the need for a super cop that would be responsible for some judgment of me? Funny thing is that it kind of hit me in a religious manner..."I'm not worthy"
To think that I, on this tiny part of this insignificant planet among billions of stars could be so important.
It is a casting off of arrogance to reveal confidence. Permission to put things in perspective, to truly appreciate the extraordinary circumstances that led to this reality. To live without the burden of fear. To tell my family I love them, not because that's what I am "supposed" to do, but because I do.

Alex Personius In Deism, Pantheism and other spiritual philosophies (they aren't religions), the "evidence" for God is thought to be existence of the universe and of the laws of physics.
For instance, why is there something instead of nothing? Why is there order instead of chaos? And especially how come the laws of physics were immediately there, just after the Big Bang? How did these laws came to be? Science is still looking for an explanation.
You are mistaken when you say there is no concept of God outside religion. You are seeing things backwards. Religions came to exist _because_ there was the concept of a creator or a higher power in the first place. And when someone tries to explore the concept, it becomes either a spiritual philosophy, or a religion. By definition if it talks about God it's one or the other.
Also, when you're talking of burden of fear and super cop, you are only talking of the Abrahamic god.

    "it doesn't make any sense"
religion can't be explained any more simply or precisely than that.
