This is what you get when you design a production car for a rally and the turn it into rally car... One of the coolest and most insane WRC cars in years.
@@seanoconnor8135 let’s hope so. But I’m sad to see MGU-H go. It’s a fascinating technology. And F1 cars sound epic irl. I don’t know why they don’t capture the sound of them in a better way for TV. Honda sounds epic of throttle irl. Best clip is 2019 Brazil qualifying. They got the sound pretty similar but it’s ten times louder when you are actually there. Mercedes is super loud when it’s in qualifying mode
@@sasajungic89 I'm happy that they are getting rid of it. It has no real relevance to the road car industry as it's just too complex and expensive to develop. Besides, most manufacturers will skip straight to BEV. The MGU-H is also responsible for a lot of mechanical failures and grid penalties for taking new components which just kills the sport. As for sound, the cars have gotten louder since 2014, partly due to the changes in exhaust configuration (dedicated wastegate outlet) and I guess parrtly because they have been developed to make more and more power. They were the quietest cars all weekend when I first saw them line in Melbourne 2014 though
@@sasajungic89 that and I would love to hear F1 with mechanical anti-lag. In the absence of high revving naturally aspirated engines, anti-lag could really make F1 cars sound great again
It makes me sad to say but I think we should make the most of these times. It won’t be too long and there won’t be race cars with anti lag and screaming engines.
The Yaris & i20 are pretty equal to be honest, what makes the difference is reliability. The i20s has been encountering so many mechanical failures this season (mostly from suspension problems) compared to the Yaris. Although having all three of their drivers doing consistent results is also a good thing for Toyota.
@@AbrahamArthemius Ok, but the difference compared to the Fiesta and C3 is enormous, it seems strange to me differences of the kind, on the other hand up to 2/3 years ago the Fiesta was winning. Probably what makes the difference is a set of factors, it will be interesting to see WRC 2022 with hybrids.
@@diesel-td1946 From what i remember, M-Sport decided to took the Fiesta's development to another direction (forgot which part) but seems like it's actually make the car a lot worse. Plus, they're focusing their resources for the new Rally1 Puma, so there's another reason why Fiesta WRC's sudden dropped in performance. As for Citroen, the C3 was very much a flawed car even with Ogier driving it.

lmao what? these things are literally the fastest cars the wrc has seen in decades. with the hybrid boost engaged the engines produce around 550hp and the regulations allow for a bit more aero than before so that translates to more high/medium speed grip, which in turn translates to higher average cornering speeds. from 0 to 100 km/h in less than 3 seconds. these are pretty much the closest thing to those group b death traps we have seen since they were banned. you're just mad because you saw the word "hybrid" attached to it lmao
@@deekusucks the aero change is the opposite, these new cars have less downforce and you can see that by looking at the aero of this toyota for example, the side aero are smaller and back diffuser completely gone. also with more weight that the hybrid brings they will have to reduce the speed more on corners plus there is no middle differential which adds to the reduce of speeds when on corners. overall I think the times will be a bit slower than the last Rally1 but we'll see :D
@@deekusucks WRC+ cars are the actual fastest cars ever seen in the history of rallying; these hybrid cars are Rally1-spec and, as other user said, they're going to be slower (at least at first) than the WRC+ cars since they have less aero, are heavier, and have worse suspensions and differentials.
I was worried the hybrid WRC cars would be quieter, from what I'm hearing they all sound insane 😂👌🏼
Same engine as before, the electric motors are an extra. The combustion engine is only off between stages.
Yep, the motor is used as a boost and as a way to get around the paddock
