Welcome to the You'll Never Leave Me Right Club how You'll Never Leave Me Right are ya?
"Hanarenai" actually does mean "don't leave" in Japanese. The first part, hanare-, stems from "hanareru" which is the verb "to leave". The "nai" part is what makes the word a negation, which makes it a fitting name for Nai.
Hahaha... foolish Hanare. All you had to do, was to implement some basic Farming gameplay, a few cute animals and some Cute Loveinterests to get me to play on for decades! The only antagonist I need is my selfmade strive for completionism.
The virgin waffle-maker VS The CHAD pancack-maker
Excuse me do we just want t0 brush over how they killed nai in cold blood and essentially played god in that one moment an was just like - you know what maybe I shouldn't make the player keep playing
Imagine insulting someone and instead of them getting upset, they’re impressed.
I love how a lot of the laughs in Monomyth are actually taken straight from One Piece
"Do you have any CGs?" Be careful for what you wish for.
These games will never give you up, let you down, run around or desert you. They'll never make you cry or say goodbye, and certainly won't hurt you.
Hanarenai: I felt bad for the little cat-faced demon because I wanted the player to be their friend and let them keep the halo. And all I got was the cat demon getting their throat slit.
Monomyth seems like a fairly literal take on the hero's journey. While it at its simplest can be described as a call to adventure, a climactic ordeal after a long journey, and then the return to where you came, this seems based on the Christopher Vogler description (who uses the "reward" the hero is fighting for as an elixir). The steps for his take are listed on Wikipedia if you want to see it (under their hero's journey page) and you basically do all of them in Monomyth.
So i played it.
Hanare: I'LL SHOW YOU A VILLAIN
Manly: “Why do I look like Bomberman?”
Hanare:
"without an antagonist, they'll stop playing for sure!"
Manly: I’ll end you
Monomyth is genuinely one of the prettiest games I’ve ever seen. I would love to wander around some blue mountains, jump on some goo lakes, and talk to the funny bat people
An insecure wafflemaker, or a secure pancakemaker?
