    I have a wolf i animated, and it worked with import the 2 first times. But the third animation always messes up when imported. I dont get why. It messes up the legs mainly. I kinda lost my faith with autorig after that

    It only exported the character wwith metacarpel bones. rest of the bones wasn't there in unreal 5

    When I import the fbx to unreal, my character is lying on their back. what have I missed to have them import standing up?

      check your import axis and make sure that its all applied in blender THEN look again to see if unreal correlates to that. i get that issue when i deal with nintendo characters as nintendo uses Y axis as up instead of Z

    Hi, I just bought the tool watching your video and it does an error when I import to unreal 5... Are you aware of if the tool is compatible to U5 or if there is a way to fix it? Even if I click fix character and all I get the same error that you get at 8:57

      I'm assuming you're trying to use the skeleton that is included in UE5. After you set your joint locations (neck, chin, shoulders, etc.), BEFORE YOU HIT "GO", change the "skeleton settings presets" to UE5. This is because the UE5 skeleton has more spine bones (5, I believe), and 2 neckbones. Changing the preset to UE5 will set it up properly. Again, do this BEFORE you hit "go".

      @@semmert yeah that's what I figured already. after when making the redirector I had problems with the feet IK . all animations were playing but feet were stuck to the floor. I then uncheck the export of IK and twist bones and it worked. I don't need these bones for what I am doing anyways. but yeah having a proper pipeline is pretty hard if you are not a tech animator

    Hello,
    When I load the model I get a missing bone error UE5. I could never fix it. Any chance of helping?

      Are you selecting the correct mannequin skeleton? the old version is not compatible with new version

    3:00 - you are not going to simply make good shoulder deformation by only placing the joint properly... it is required, but doesn't do it alone if using basic bone set and linear skinning, especially depending on how realistic your character is.

    I swear man, I was importing everything and it was just not working. I watched this video, then imported again with "import normals" selected and "Selected Objects" and "Selected Bones" off and it imported all the necessary data. Although one of my eyes came in with its normals flipped, i figured id bite the bullet and just make that mat "Two-Sided".

    Hello, does Blender rigging do corrective blendshapes that are driven by set driven keys like Maya? For example, when you bend an elbow the inside of the elbow will use corrective blendshapes to correctly deform the elbow when it bends?

      Yep! However nothing like that will happen by default in blender (or unreal) you'd need to create the drivers or write a script. Blender specifically has some plug-ins you can find - at least one I have seen - it's probably on a marketplaces.

    2:40 If I had to guess the problem with your shoulders would be more to do with the topology of the mesh rather than the rigging. It doesn't matter how many times you rig, if your topology isn't right it'll look wrong. Shoulder topology is particularly difficult since it's a ball joint. If you're in a hurry you might be able to fix it by simply adding some extra edge loops.

    I followed the exact steps you took, except I used a universal rig (since my character isn't humanoid) and in UE5 I can only see a root bone under my skeletal mesh. Any idea why this is happening?

    I've been trying to find an effective and reliable method for exporting my meshes for almost a week.
    This tutorial uses paid addons, buy them without being sure they work... I've been fooled a few times so I avoid them now.
    That said, I still got fooled, I bought auto rige pro which does not allow the mesh to be linked to the rige with the bin option in skin.
    It does not show me an error but it must be the same, weight error that everyone encounters and I will certainly not buy the second one.
    Next tutorial.

      Did you try using voxelized instead of heatmap? it works better for layered characters. Also there are always tweaks to do in the edit groups weight painting

      @@WoodyDevs I rig for a living, and have probably made unreal 4 rigs with auto rig pro close to 1000 times. I want to be able to replicate that process for the new ue5 Manny rig. I have tried soooo many ways. Messed with bone placement, pose. Rotations, with extra twist bones. Without extra twist bones, etc. Still can't get it to work properly.

      @@ryanz2814 but there is a tool in UE5 that converts unreal 4 rigs to unreal 5, why not do your usual convert from blender to ue4 rig and then in ue5 convert the rig?

    Don't use this method it's it's terrible and not the true unreal bone set up. Make sure you have the correct amount spine joints this guy didn't change any of the bone count settings to match unreal. Also make sure you have the right amount of twist bones so you never have to retarget anything it will just work with unreal skeleton.

      Feedback appreciated. You're correct about the spine count. It's been a while since I made/watched this. I definitely was more focused on a workflow that could get models in than something that would be retargetless.
      Are you using ARP for unreal?
