God I hated Rolin SO MUCH when I saw this movie. And the fact the dad was fine with it and everything was so aggravating and how everyone was mad at marianne for this and UHG, this made me so mad.
Apparently they didn't get the whole story. Maybe Marianne never told anybody about this. Not excusing their behavior at all, but I'm trying to think of a logical reason why they're okay with his behavior.

I always thought it was because he was miserable after his wife died (I presume she’s dead as she’s never seen) and never wanted marianne to be alone. But I think it was mostly because the plot demanded it. Because it makes him seem like a really bad father.
I think those guys who were flying away when Marianne was trying to punch Roland were like "alright, she has a Solid Point im out" and as Roland pulled them down just wanted to back Marianne up in punching him XD

I don't care what people and critics say about this movie. Sure its a little bit strange but there is a lot of heart in it too. This scene is a great example of the unique perspective the writers took. They made the handsome fairy with the gorgeous shiny armor shallow. The bog king doesn't look particularly impressive on the outside but by the end is far nobler.
You know what? Roland wouldn't have to do all of this if he didn't cheat on marianne in the first place. His plan worked. The day of the wedding he mucked his plan up.
2:30 is my favorite part I love overlap of them singing, & how the percussion beat sounds matches the sound of the people falling. & then when Roland falls & hit the armor it sounds like a boxing bell K.O signifying that she has won their fight.
