He’s not going to fight. He’s got a massive cut on his arm that will probably re-open or has severely weakened his arm. He’s going to try to make the fight so he gets paid, but he won’t get out of the first round

As excited I am for Costa vs Khamzat I'd legit choose to rebook it 4-8 weeks later. You can't have any shenanigan's mess up such an epic match up of different styles and unique personalities. Is Costa really implying he can get through a war and not be bothered by that elbow.
Yeah but the suits need khamzat in abu Dhabi. Khamzat even officially changed his, "fighting out of" location. It will no longer be Sweden and now will be represented by "UAE"
They don’t just move fights around like that. If either of the fighters has to pull out it’s not going to be rebooked a month or two later. It will take at least 6-8months if the fight is even rebooked.
No shot. Khamzat has to fight in Abu Dhabi no matter what. I would say wait till the very last minute and if Paulo can’t fight, call Jared Cannonier (he’s rumored to be the backup fighter).

Personally I think the sooner the better, Costa is in no condition to fight on several weeks, hell end up getting ragdoll by his arm. Pull Costa out and get back up fighter in now

What I can surmise from the pics, description, and surgery is that Costa didn’t have an acute injury to the elbow joint (bone/ligament/tendon) but has been dealing with some kind of staph infection. He was probably trying to get rid of it with antibiotics, but it sounds like it flared up and he had to have it opened up and debrided. I say this because he is still training with the arm (throwing punches) which tells me it’s probably not the ligaments/tendons of the joint. Additionally, if it was a joint repair, there is no way it would be ready in time for the fight. Hoping for a speedy recovery and that he is as close to 100% for hamzat
Staph infections have a tendency to make fighters really ill flaring up during the weight cut. Well at least according to UFC history.

I don't know but this interview is I think the opposite of what they're telling us. Captain Erick reading prepared texts from the screen and Paulo saying this fight will happen and then says hopefully the doctors won't stop him tells me that they're here for the show, acting like they are ready for Khamzat. Lets see, but the chances that Paulo will show up at UFC 294 are slim in my opinion

Its awesome because Its easy to imagine how both could win.
I'd slightly edge it to Strickland, something like 58% victory for Sean and 42% victory chance for Costa.
I think a lot comes down to whether or not Costa can those vicious Left power kick to the body, its so powerful and if it lands it sets up the coming barrage of head strikes.

Thats an elbow bursitis. I had it and had to have it drained. They cut a deep incision to drain it out and then stitch it up. I dont know how thats gonna heal in 11 days.

When this fight was booked, i was 100% sure that one of them will go out from the fight and i always had doubt that it can be costa, that is why i never liked this matchup. I'm one of Khamzat biggest fans, and gutted to Costa injured.
I wanted to see both fighters come into the fight fit & healthy, there's no way costa being 100% recovered his mobility is obviously limited you can see that during the interview.
We have a couple of great fights on the card already, if rather they push this bout back to get a proper contest
Without Chimaev vs Costa(or cannonier at least) UFC 294 is only an average ppv.
