I've been watching Chael for a long time. His biggest fault is that he always tows the company line. Makes it hard to watch sometimes. He's happy to make excuses for fighter pay or support the UFC/MacGregor over USADA. You will never see him disagree with Dana. So it's good to see him called out for it.

The Saudis don't pay for high profile sporting events because they need (or even want) a profit from hosting them. They do it to draw attention away from their human rights abuses. They got exactly what they wanted from this, and it wasn't money.

Chael is pointing out that Saudi willing to lose money for a fight and that’s really the main reason Francis won financially. No other promotion is willing to put up fights like this to lose money, and that’s what chael is pointing out. Ariel forgets this and just wants to gloat on Francis going up against ufc then winning the lottery. Ariel’s ego is preventing him to see what chael is actually trying to point iut
Chael is also pointing out that Francis is sort of done, there is no next opportunity. Fury literally has to face a boxing next or be Stripped of his title, the WBC is probably embarrassed by that performance and willing to force Fury into a mandatory. The Saudi government would rather have Fury face Usyk, and Wilder and AJ could stand to make the most face one another. The only way Francis get one of those fights is as option B or C, not actually being "next", and Wilder and AJ are going to offer him very poor split terms. So again Francis is going to have to rely on the "charity" of one of them being unable to set up the actual fight they want to make. Francis literally proved in this fight he isn't a star, and all this "buzz" won't translate into more buys for his next fight, especially if it's against even less competition, they were saying guys like Chisora or Parker from the Saudis.

Chael is pointing out that Saudi willing to lose money for a fight and that’s really the main reason Francis won financially. No other promotion is willing to put up fights like this to lose money, and that’s what chael is pointing out.
Ariel forgets this and just wants to gloat on Francis going up against ufc then winning the lottery. Ariel’s ego is preventing him to see what chael is actually trying to point iut
Chael is also pointing out that Francis is sort of done, there is no next opportunity. Fury literally has to face a boxing next or be Stripped of his title, the WBC is probably embarrassed by that performance and willing to force Fury into a mandatory. The Saudi government would rather have Fury face Usyk, and Wilder and AJ could stand to make the most face one another. The only way Francis get one of those fights is as option B or C, not actually being "next", and Wilder and AJ are going to offer him very poor split terms. So again Francis is going to have to rely on the "charity" of one of them being unable to set up the actual fight they want to make. Francis literally proved in this fight he isn't a star, and all this "buzz" won't translate into more buys for his next fight, especially if it's against even less competition, they were saying guys like Chisora or Parker from the Saudis.

So logically theres no reason to do it unless theres a cash grab with no belts, but most boxing promotions historically havent made money. So how can there be a cash grab while losing money. Chael is going back to the who, what, why, where and when. Who is obviously a champion which wont happen unless the belts not on the line. What is which sport. Why, well it obviously cant be for a belt without a contract. Where is easy, anywhere. When definitely matters because they just tried to sell a fight during (free telecast) college football season.
