See? This is the most recognizable walking noise. It was even in pikmin 3. Now tell me this, would you rather listen to this, or listen to mario walking on the atari 5200 for an hour?
The music and graphics in the original Mario Bros are cool. They flow well and are easy to listen to. With home brews being a thing now, I think it'd be cool to see a Mario Bros 2. Maybe a Wrecking Crew 2.
In Christmas day 2021 which was just a few days ago, I got this game for our NES. Today, I got 204,305 (I think I remembered that correctly) points, which is WAYYYY more than the points in this video. Wow I'm actually very good for a person who hasn't played much of that game yet. 😲 Edit: My high score is now 417,920 points (Made it to stage 50 btw)
If not mistaken this is the first Mario game. Super Mario Bros was so popular that it overshadowed this Mario. Super Mario was known to my childhood as Mario 2
The first one to feature his brother, Luigi. Mario's actual debut was in Donkey Kong, who was called "Jumpman" (Mario's name came from Mario Segale, the landlord of who owned the property near Nintendo of America's Seattle, WA headquarters).
I should mention that youtube reduced the framerate of the video, and that makes a few things look weird. Like Mario sliding on platforms and those (creepy) one-eyed crabs.
I like this version, as opposed to the arcade version, because it doesn't take quarters. You can practice techniques without regard to score, like jumping over enemies and dealing with the fireballs. Did you know that you can take out both the green and orange fireballs from below? The green ones move in a predictable pattern so it's easy to knock them out from below. They're worth 200 points each. The orange fireball is less predictable but it's worth a thousand points. Careful, though! If you knock out the orange fireball (or if it disappears on its own) the second orange fireball is MUCH faster. But like I said, you can restart this game for free so it's fun to practice.
Plot is the same as the arcade version. There are a few programming changes to make it work for a NES such as the removal of cutscenes, invisible platforms, and icicles.
Jajaja! Yo la escucho todos los días! A mi hijo de 6 años le encanta, llegó al nivel 45. Y ahora entré para ver hasta qué nivel llega el juego y por lo visto no termina nunca😉🙆
This game gets harder until stage 12, with stage 13 the hardest variant of the bonus game. It then repeats stages 9 to 13 until you get a game over or reach the highest possible stage. I've read that it goes up to stage 150 and then takes you back to the title screen, but I've never done it myself. The far superior Kaettekitta Mario Bros., released for the Famicom Disk System in 1988, is much closer to the arcade version. Its difficulty scales as follows: Stage 1: Shellcreepers, green fireballs Stage 5: Sidesteppers Stage 6 (I think): Red fireballs Stage 7: Fighter Flies Stage 10: Slipices (the NES version stops increasing the difficulty here) Stage 17: An icicle Stage 21: two icicles Stage 24: Enemies recover much faster after being flipped Stage 31: three icicles Stage 41: four icicles The bonus stages from stage 16 onward have invisible platforms. Also, after stage 9, there is a bonus stage every 7 stages instead of every 5.
Did anyone else notice that Mario's running noise is similar to the intro to the Super Mario Bros theme? Actually, if you listen to a few of the Mario Bros games, you'll keep running into that theme arranged in different ways. Off hand, I can hear it in SMB 1, 2, 3, Super Mario World, and the Delfino theme in Super Mario Sunshine.
Difficulty. Most games that were developed R&D Development, had Game A and Game B. Game B is like the same thing but slightly harder. Enemies move faster, take longer to kill, bonuses are awarded at higher levels, extra lives are more scarce, items like in Zelda are switched around in Game B.
After rescuing the damsel in distress, Pauline, from Donkey Kong, Mario leaves his carpentry job and starts a plumbing business with his brother Luigi. The Mario Bros. were soon called in from witnesses to investigate the sewers of New York after strange creatures have been appearing down there. Little did they knew, they were in for huge surprise that would change their lives forever.
I just recently finished a Famicom marathon of all the games from 1983 (a total of 9 games), and "Mario Bros" is probably the best game there, along with "Popeye".
thank you youtube emulation, by making the sidestepper having one eye and one arm, also by making the fighterfly having one eye and one wing, thank you youtube, we hate your emulation!!!
This is almost literally impossible. I'm trying to do exactly what this guy is doing, but the controls make it so ludicrous hard, lmao. I can't even imagine how hard he had to practice to make it look this effortless. He almost makes it look like it's not an inhumanly difficult and frustrating game
I have a question! I haven't played videogames in over 10 years, but I decided to get back into them now and I decided to do something crazy. Since I'm obsessed with time and dates...I decided to play and beat every platformer, shooter, action, adventure, and horror game starting with the NES, then the SNES, and then PS1-PS4. So basically I want to play and beat every non-sport and racing game from 1980-2018 lol I want to play every game by release date, even going as far as month and day. I just bought an NES off Ebay and now I'm wondering...should I start my journey with this game? Since it came out in 1983, I'm guessing it's the first platformer ever on the NES?
@Pen Bashiro, MD Yeah, they made all of the enemies' graphics way simpler and removed some of their animations. They also removed the falling icicles (which I could've sworn were in it, but apparently not), the 'test your skill' level where the floor was invisible, the little cutscenes in between some levels, and worst of all, for some reason you eventually just stop being able to gain lives from getting points, making it much harder to get further in the game. The only GOOD change I can think of is that they made the fireballs smaller and much less frequent, which was just super annoying in the arcade version.
I think it's clever that Luigi's neutral special is a green fireball. It's not just a clone of Mario's neutral special. It also showed up in the game of Luigi's debut! Edit: I just found out that Luigi real debut is in a fucking Game & Watch game
