Volvo 142S - New, old, newer model(?) steering wheel

In this installment of '69 Volvo 142 "find parts", I install the different steering wheel I tracked down.
I think the installed wheel came from a '71, and thats the year I see it on most, but I've also seen it on other years, so not sure where this style comes from. If you have info on the "butterfly" style steering wheel, let me, know.
Also, in this video, I discover a cool Volvo 140 seat feature, auto adjust!

The steering wheel you just took off the 142 looks somewhat like what the Amazons use, the one you put on looks like what the 140s,use it even adds certainspoetiness to the 142.

Yeah, it's different and stands out from other models. I really like the look of the butterfly. Might put a leather wrap on it, if I can get one.

@@MakeitOnce You can get a leather wrap for the steering wheel, in any major auto parts store, they have a variety, plus they have some, that you use a needle to close the wrap around the steering wheel, variety of colors, check size of steering wheel, some are already made to slip on others, you put the leather wrap, and with the needle and thread provided you close it up on the steering wheel,Good Luck, that will add a nice touch.

The size will be the trick since it is such a big wheel. I'm gonna see if I can match the style from the old Volvo brochures, if I can. I'm sure I can find one; but like to take my time and enjoy the process of finding the right one :)

@@MakeitOnce Just take your time, that 142, is going to look awesome, if you have questions, check David Bello, he has a You tube channel he has restored a couple of Amazons, now he is working on a 164,he also found a GT steering wheel all original, it might be the one you are looking for.

Are there any cracks in the original wheel?

Don't think so. Seems solid, but center was pretty trashed and enamel coating is chipped all over. Wasn't something I needed to change, but figured for the price I got it would be a nice improvement.

That is the question. Have a new battery now, so a test seems imminent.
