I was lil worried when I saw the line up cos like James said we had a lot of technicians but not a lot of speed in the team without martinelli, rice, partey, Blanco to deal with forest on the counter. But then that's why we gotta trust the manager.. We dominated the ball so much and condensed the field so tight there wasn't any wide open spaces for the likes of odoi and elanga to run into which pretty much negated their counter attacking threats. Great win. Can't even remember the last time I watched an arsenal game where I wasn't nervous the last 10-5 mins lol
How are we even asking this question after just one win? Jesus Christ, why does it always have to be so extreme with this fanbase? Either we're absolutely brilliant or we're the worst team, according to majority of the fanbase, especially the guys from AFTV. For now, let's just focus on trying to put 4-5 wins together and a good winning streak before we talk about title race and that the team is already fixed when we were criticizing them just a week ago. It's not like a win at Emirates against Forest is huge. It's expected no matter how well they've been this season.
@@Dasni12 Exactly. We need to focus on ourselves for now and stop flipflopping from game to game, it's getting embarrassing. one game, people want Arteta out and the next game, he's a genius who's fixed it all. Fact of the matter is that Arsenal at this moment in time are too inconsistent to win the league and therefore, we need to put together a big run before we can start talking about the league again. If we don't win at least the next 4 of the next 5 games, forget about it.
Hey Ahmed - look I agree to an extent, and I wondered if this title would be taken as an extreme. All I'm trying to do in the vid, backed with lots of data, is show that Arsenal's main problem this season (fluidity and chance creation) was fixed against Forest because of particular personnel. I then ask the question of whether we stick to it or not. There's a long way to go, but if you look at my content I've never torn this team apart nor said the season was done or looking as bad as others. So on either side, I feel I've been quite balanced🙏
@Dasni12 if only it was 'barely'. At the moment they are simply fantastic. Our chances will come though. We need to focus on our own games because that we can influence.
good food for thought. Could the reason for Martinelli not having the freedom be Arteta not trusting in his technical abilities ? Because we saw a promising Martinelli just two season ago. We know that he can do it and losing Xhaka cannot be the only reason why his form dropped off. Hopefully we can see a good win against Sporting COYG.
Of course. But I always say it needs to be the right one. A striker just for the sake of buying won't help us. Let's see if we can do something in January
Hi James, good work as always, although I think there’s a wrong perception, I think it’s more tactical quality rather than technical quality. The players bought in all raise the tactical I.Q. Of the team the 3 midfielders are all collaborative players also who use positioning and movement and space manipulation to disorganise the opposition. Of course their technical ability allows them to do this at high level and at a fast pace but I think the biggest difference is the tactical I.Q. And the tactical discipline of the players to execute the strategy set out by the manager, which some of the other players sometimes as guilty of not following which stifles our ball progression and attacks.
This is a GREAT POINT! I hadn't thought of it this way. Thank you, will have a think about all this post-Sporting. My only initial push-back to this is that players like Havertz have tactically executed everything perfectly - but I get you
@@TheGoonerverse I Agree with your point about Havertz who has carried out instructions, but it also proves my point somewhat. With the tactical acumen of Jorginho, Odegaard and Merino we don’t have to play route one football to Havertz, that just becomes an outlet option. Odegaard as probably the most tactically gifted uses his presence when we’re in possession to move and shift people which starts our rotation for our space invaders to fill, I.E. Partey entering the vacated space for his Goal. Odegaard is also happy to stand in the half space and hold his position when Raya’s baiting the press. Raya is fantastic at waiting for when the opposition push on to him and hitting a flat pass or a clipped pass into him which allows us to transition up the pitch without dropping our striker too deep. This means the oppositions defence have someone to worry about which creates him space to turn and play make in. Odegaards tactical I.Q., space awareness and discipline in holding that position in the hole allows us to be more vertical and gets us playing in the oppositions half faster. Without the tactical players on the pitch we digress to going long to Saka and Havertz which is a strategy that doesn’t disrupt the oppositions defensive structure, which we were getting frustrated with and also makes it too easy to mark our danger men. Havertz also drops too deep to become an outlet so we loose our presence up top. When you think of the tactical role Odegaard plays in the team and what he’s responsible for, makes it abit more easier to see what Ethan has to live up to and also maybe why the mister is being patient with his development.
Arteta now plays a bit more like liverpool than city, timber played similar to trent j20/partey like gravenberch and odegaard like szoboslai, although I would liken to harvey Elliot when he comes back. Obviously there are variations, won't be exactly the same
Welcome to The Goonerverse 2.0 everyone!
I really liked how Arteta rotated the team while still having a balanced lineup.

It was obvious the players got a license to express themselves, Martinelli will be lethal given the same attacking freedom
New room/recording area looks great James!! Maybe add your logo to the wall above the shelf for good measure 😊

Even if we have fixed things, won't matter if Liverpool continue to barely drop any points.

It’s interesting is ‘new dimensions’ or is it players playing with a bit of individuality and quicker movement
No. We still need a striker.

Big up James. Love the new setup. Here’s to the new content
Arteta or Martin fixed Arsenal? I would argue the latter.
Trossard is not a technician
Ask this after a run, we’ve proved nothing
Are you offended? Do we need to ask your permission before we say something?
Win one game at home to Forest and Delusional FC is back
Why are you still here?
Win one game and the people who talk out of their asses are back.
He hasn’t.
