Wow, I haven't heard Bach's Prelude no.1 in years. My dad used to play piano when he was a child, and stopped playing when he started a family. A year before he died, he bought an electric piano and managed to record himself playing Bach's prelude no. 1. We used this recording in his funeral and I haven't heard it since. Instantly made me cry as soon as I heard it

Well Dvorak didn't actually write the theme for Jaws, his new world symphony was written in 1893, John Williams just used the first few bars as a base, just as he sampled Jupiter from Holst's "The Planets" suite for the Imperial March in Star Wars

There were some groups that mixed classical music with rock music in the 1970's . They were the "YES" ( English group ) , EMERSON , LAKE , AND PALMER" ( English group ) and "EKSEPTION" ( Dutch group - well known in Europe but not America ) .
EMERSON , LAKE , AND PALMER had a third album entitled "PICTURES AT AN EXHIBITION" (1971) featuring live songs composed by MUSSORGSKY .

I knew Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy - but about half of them I knew "Oh, well I don't know the name, but that's from Swan Lake"
And given names like "Etude 25 Rhapsody 4 Movement 7 Order 66" I don't think I can be blamed for getting the actual names slightly confused.

Mentally inserting the gunnery commands for the 1812, and trying to remember how many cannon it was originally scored for (off the top of my head, assuming a typical level of competency, I *think* it needs a 6 gun battery. Crack gunners with well-found pieces might be able to keep up with only a 4-gun battery, while with green artillerists you may well need 12). The long descending run is there to make sure Gun 4 is reloaded...

The #2 song TCHAIKOVSKY'S "DANCE OF THE LITTLE SWANS" ( from "SWAN LAKE") first part sounds initially like a slowed down song called "BALLADE" (BURGMULLER , OP.100 NO. 15 ) that I learned when I was taking piano lessons .
The #5 song TCHAICHOVSKY'S " DANCE OF THE SUGAR PLUM FAIRY " is a favorite of mine .
The #12 song MOZART'S "EINE KLEINE NACHTMUSIK" ("A LITTLE NIGHT MUSIC" ) is another one of my favorites !

To be fair, Classical pieces that don't even have a real title, but are just called "Symphony" or "Overture" or "Concert" of sorts aren't exactly great titles to remember. Also, I didn't hadn't heard like half the pieces in this video.
Plus, who the fuck doesn't know the title of "Ave Maria" or Mozart's "Kleine Nachtmusik"? I mean, the second one might be bias on my part, cause I'm Austrian, but still.

      1) Since it's "Eine Kleine Nachtmusik" - "A Little Night Music" you are not exactly covering yourself in glory here.
      2) This is Shubert's Ave Maria as opposed to the equal famous Brahms or Mozart versions.
      3) Given the way the vocal line of Shubert's Ave Maria was completely covered by the instrumentation, seemingly a fault of the program used, it would actually be very easy here to not quite place what you were hearing.
      4) The main point of all of these, and the numerous videos (and channels) like them on TH-cam, the idea is that the songs are well known but few people are actually aware of the titles.
