im thinking the true key to mastering this technology will be hybrid torches with LEP for distance and LED for spill.. :)

Naw, just needs a diffuser or adjustable diffuser for the front. Diffusing LEP emitters for spill has been used for IR lum in the tactical world since the 90s.
I'd like to see an adjustable diffuser, or one that puts out just a few % of light to 30-50%
@@TriadAgone I agree. Use what's there and simply have a diffuser, can be even in different colors, that attach to the light.
I kinda stepped away from flashlight snobbery for a number of years, last torch in this class I bought was a Sunwayman v20c.

Can't decide if I like these or not. Impressive tech for sure. Struggling to imagine how I'd find a practical use though for such a narrow beam. I'd need a more practical light with me as well so the benefit of a small thrower is cancelled out there, might as well carry 1 bigger thrower that has some use closer up too with it's spill.
Could work very well for pistols at night, gives you rough but a fast and visible aim without a huge reflector
I'm on the fence also. That very narrow beam of light even on a pistol would make it really hard to track anything in motion. Like finding a needle in a haystack lol. Also the Acebeam LEP flashlights come with radiation warnings plus they can cause harm and blindness if you have an accident. Not sure on this one.
Paired with a gun scope you realise how effective these are at lighting things up in the distance

From the limited view of the lens configuration I could make out a "optical convex lens"
also known as a "condenser aspheric lens" behind what appears to be a flat lens. With the looks of the light beam I would question the flatness of the outer lens. At 11:10 you can see how straight the light beam is shining and the beam gets just slightly slimmer then slightly spreads. That is a very tight light beam do to the fixed focus configuration of the lenses, reflector, and emitter.

hardus van der hoven I too just purchased an acebeam w30 online. The beam looks visible in the videos, but I hear even the video doesn’t do it justice? Is the beam extremely visible? Also do you know if they make a green filter for the w30? Hope you are enjoying it.

Erkannt hab ich nicht viel damit... GT Mini ist da bislang noch sinnvoller...
Aber das hat sicherlich Potential... In ein paar Jahren haben wir vermutlich einen thrower mir 12 Lasern ;)

Great review ,I have a question that no one seems to discuss on any of the reviews for this light cause I’m in the market for this sort of light , I’m comparing this with the acebeam w10 from what I see the specs are similar and the w10 has a 3 hour runtime. I like the looks of the weltool far more though. Even with a shorter runtime it’s enough for me but the only deal breaker is that it won’t let you use primaries. It’s there any way I can run this light with cr123s. let’s say on a long mountain trip where I can’t plug in anywhere
Is there something I can do or use certain types of non rechargeable to match the current? I don’t know how that works . Anyone that’s a proper flashlight geek have any input ?

Like others I can't see a real good practical use as a flashlight. But... mount that thing as a weapon light and all you would have to do is shine it in their eyes. This could be a game changer for personal defense.
Jody Stamper No it can’t. This W3 is rated as a class 3B laser product, which means that it is illegal in the most countries. Using such a device would permanently blind someone. And for example here in Germany, it is illegal to use illegal weapons for self-defense purposes.

Nice review. All these LEP beams are too thin to be useful. Ill stick to my Nitecore P30 as a medium thrower and Manker T01ii as a small thrower.
Im sure some ppl will find LEP useful for hunting maybe, but im not one of them.
They are also somewhat illegal.
Ben Braceletspurple Only the Weltool W3 because it is a class 3B laser product. The Acebeam W30 however should be legal because it is classified as a class 2M laser product according to the manufacturer manual.
Nitecore p30 has been my go to for 3 years hunting ... I jus moved up to the new p30i... man wat a beam .... but to pull the trigger on thrunite tn42 .. or acebeam k75. Not sure anyone have any suggestions on which is better
@@benmyers5446 im not a hunter but i was in the army. Imho none is good. The "lens" is big so must be protected. All ppl see my K75 ask me the purpose of it. For me is just a toy. If one own a large property and need to see wild animals or thieves at the border then K75 is gold. P30i or Olight warrior X turbo are far more suited for hunting.
Just for fun i bought Lumintop GT Nano, another "useful" thrower.
@@randomescu well I like to coyote hunt in Illinois here and we have wide open fields that I scan over 2000yards on ... so in my opinion it would be very usefull... as the p30i I can reach to 800 yards. I need more.. lol

You will never be able to use it for self-defense purposes because it is illegal... also according to the manufacturer, it can instantly blind you permanently if you look into the beam. That’s why the laser class is illegal in the most countries.

Even at 1000 lumens it still got a very narrow beam to push the light all that distance. Plus Acembeam LEPs come with radiation warnings. Might be a cool novelty item to own.
Bullshit! Guys which talk shit like you do have no clue of physics. The W30 with 500 lumens is already a light which reaches a distance which is far more than the distance your eyes can see. (Also according to the manufacturer)
Also, if they would make one with 1000 lumens and a distance of 5km, then the countries would instantly ban all of them and you wouldn’t even be able to use a thrower with more than 500 meters again.
Dont see much of a practical use for such a light. With such a concentrated hotspot and no spill your field of view is very limited. Thx for the review but I'll pass on this one.

I could see it used when doing inspection work at a distance at night having to point out something to someone else you don’t want any spill and would like to illuminate it vs. the small dot you would get with with a laser.
Agree, long time ago there was this Recoil Type LED flashlight, Ultrafire and Pelican made them, I have Ultrafire UF-007, yes it has impressive throw out of Q5 LED, but the tiny spot renders it useless for any inspection work. So this kind of beam is useless, I think it'd be a cool product if it used a different lens in front or put the phospor at different focus point so that the beam angle will be larger.

@@AverageReviewsYT I don't think any one is going to use a white laser for edc. The on thing to keep in mind is it is much easier to see far away objects in real life life then on camera. So you can probably see what you are looking at at over 100m away
These lights are cool, but pointless unless you want to shine light at something so far away that you can’t even see...
In most US states this is illegal to carry on your person, dont forget to check your laws folks.

Martin M4D M4X Rathmanner Read the manual of the W3. It says that the LEP technology itself is rated as 3B. Laser classes do NOTHING have to do with lasers, they are defined by light intensity levels which can be reached using other technologies too, like LEP for example like here.

What he said Laser phosphor is the newest lightning technology being used that everyone wants to replace discharge lamps and LEDs in projectors and flashlights headlights etc and it’s pricy for now once it’s been around a few more years the price will come down especially in things like flashlights that are mass produced it’s like any other new technology
