I have W4 form almost 2 years. maybe my experience with this flashlight will help decide someone what are the individual needs. i go outside in the night many times walking arround. if you go outside to take a walk in open filed is ok, you cand see hundreds of meters ahead, people, animals, so here the flashlight is very useful. if you walking in the woods, well, that changes the ecuation drastically because rarely you can see more than, let's say 5o - 1oo meters ahead because of the trees. it depends a lot where you are gonna to use it. on the other side if you want an intimidating light who's gonna scare dangerous animals and you have extra money maybe you will go with w4pro (if have to spend money for extra batteries as well if you walk for hours so keep that in mind). if your budget is not a problem then go with w4pro and some extra batteries :). don't forget to buy the white cap as well to difuse the light while you walking and when you want take it out and see at a long distance. you can not use to light the way in front of you without that cap, the light is so powerfull that it will bother you. enjoy your walk!

I got my new in box W4Pro Tac for $350 during a 40% off promo. I use it with my gyro stabilized ZULU6 HDX 20x magnifying binoculars so that I can see things very very far away in full detail at night. Its a combo that work amazingly well together.

I wonder why they designed the tac in the way that you have to go through strobe first in order to get to low??
I am not sure, perhaps strobe mode is more important than low mode for the intended application for this light

@@flashlightcrazy I use my Weltool W4 Pro to spot post markers, check bear lockers, campsites and benches for food/storage, the occasional big cat or bear, among many targets that are to my advantage to NOT have the insane amount of spill I would get from an SBT90.2 thrower. I don't know how many times I would spot a fire pit that looks to be smoking still, and in doing so, all tents around it and the site behind the beam are lit up with people inside wondering if they're being spied on....
I've seen delivery workers using LEPs to spot address numbers on homes without disturbing anyone around/inside. I've seen stage workers using LEPs to spot the exact stage lights to switch on/off in a theater where a brighter light is needed to point up towards the fixtures/mounts...
There's definite advantages to having near-zero spill in a light, even if it's quite nuanced.

The W4 and W4 Pro/TAC are two totally different lights. You wouldn't be upgrading so much as you are simply buying a new superior LEP light; that extra 1 million candela the W4 P/T offers is just too great to ignore... I think the better upgrade question would actually be between the W4 P/T versus the W5. There's enough nuanced differences between the two that require you to draw charts and comparisons of the features of each to make your decision. Whereas that decision is incredibly easy between the W4 and W4 P/T.

Me too, and I love the simple interface. Click → high; click → low. No bullshit strobe. The next upgrade must be something way more exciting than that.

Strobe isn't BS for some. It can disorient better and also be used for signaling. But if it's not for you, OK.
