In this Slay the Spire gameplay, Baalorlord does an Ascension 20 run with Ironclad. First, he gives tips on choosing a path and a starting bonus. Later on, he explains his decision for each card he chooses and why it's important to the build. Towards the end, he gears up for an epic Heart fight you don't want to miss. I have to say, I genuinely love the sheer amount of patience this man displays and encourages. Taking a moment to pull out the calculator and actually go through the numbers to ensure victory is a level of thought and attention to detail that many players nowadays just don't care to take.

The Run Ender 🥶
The reason why you NEVER remove 1 Strike (and no Defends) on floor 1 on Silent (you should also never do this on Watcher, but the reason why is different).
It's great to see some of the very rocky starts turning into a win
The floor 0 OP runs are fun, but seeing the perseverance really shows that almost any series of unfortunate events have the potential of working out
I know I write off some runs because Act 1 was abysmal, but this is humbling to see

I think if you take all the correct decisions, intuitive or not. There is only a couple unwinnable runs in spire

I think the Ironclad's strength limit was, indeed, broken in this run! Quite a few times!

I know it's been forever since this run and it likely doesn't matter, but the line you were looking for at 1:04:07 would've been:
Gambler's Brew, discard 7 - Whirlwind, Strike, Bash, Arma, Defend, Heavy and Bane
Play flex, Pummel should now be 13x5=65 damage, leaving Book at 36 HP
Play Anger for an additional 19 damage, leaving Book at 17
Play Feed for kill
It allows you to keep the Flex pot and get the Feed kill, but probably hard to see after how brutally Act 1 treated you and while interacting with chat :)
I agree that the best way to play this game is to play it whatever way is most enjoyable for you personally! For me, I mostly play Custom: Sealed Deck, Heirloom, Flight so I have a strong deck immediately (that I can usually tailor to whatever my bonus starting relic is - self damage cards because I got Self Forming Clay), and I can travel all over the map and do whatever I want. It helps me test out relic/card interactions in a fun and easy way!
I just had a run on silent where I bosswapped into astrolabe into accuracy+ accuracy+ blade dance+ 🤣. Easy A20 heart win and a score of 3834.
I love watching these after work. Good to kick back with some H and just chill to Baalors smooth voice.

I just had a crazy ironclad run. 3 strength up power cards and throne where you gain strength by losing ho by your cards l. I paired that with whirlwind with the necronomicon, making anyone that costs more than two energy melt before me. I never got double my strength, but it think that would have been too much.

It would be nice if you could put your current Clad streak in the description or thumbnail. Sometimes you don't mention it for a while, or even at all, what your Clad streak is

I disagree, I think it's fine in the description, but he should mention it in the run before he picks his starter bonus. It's not like he's trying to keep the content short.

Never checked out the other channel, but have you tried across the obelisk? It’s a rogue like deck builder that can be played single player or co-op with other players. I think it’d be kind of up your alley. Sorry if you have tried it and I missed it!
Baalor has tried AtO, and he thinks it's a great multiplayer / coop game, but feels it is somewhat lacking in singleplayer, as well as being very 'bloated' with lots of status effects and keywords and thus hard to get into at first / not new player friendly.
@@Baalorlord I gotcha. It’s not the most intuitive to get into but as soon as you’ve got the hang of it it’s a lot of fun especially coop. Honestly I thought this would get lost in the comments so I’m just happy to get the reply! Thank you for taking the time

You think act 1 was bad but you were the least prepared person on this earth for lag fight… if he showed up you died for sure. 3 turns of 20 to the face with 5 block for 1 energy….. you would’ve died instantly. It would’ve been 3 turns of 15 damage being 45 damage in 3 turns with perfect draw order. Then you get debuffed and have to either kill or take another 20 or 16 if you’re lucky. Yeah super lucky in that first act. So lucky that you didn’t have a single other thing go your way.. hahaha
