Unfortunetly this one is not from Zun, it's a cover of a japanese children's song that you're supposed to sing while playing a game called "kagome kagome". I too absolutely love what Zun did with it but I wouldn't call it a Touhou OST.
+Kezedrix well i don't really agree about that. What seems to be related to Kagome kagome here is the very beginning of the track. ZUN didnt just inspired himself only from that song (and honestly this little intro is not the best part IMO). But dayum look at this track, there's some original and awesome work in this shit, so for me it's a totally complete touhou OST. EDIT : Of course the ring of Kagome come back often in the track, but please, in a song there's not only everything about the melody itself.
Fair enough. I probably thought this because the intro is so catchy and it's the part I always end up humming. But yeah the magic does lie in the refrain. Damn you Zun, being awesome as always!
Discussing power levels of the characters of Touhou is an extremely pointless task. Simply because, the vast majority of the characters have completely game-breaking powers. Reimu can fly over reality. Remilia can manipulate fate, making her opponent become her servant. Keine can alter history so you were never born. Suika can spread herself all over the entire in-game world at once, hearing and seeing EVERYTHING. Sakuya controls the two cosmic mysteries of the universe. And then there's Yukari.
I get interested in the title of the song, and when I listened to it for the first time, i just thought: "Whoa this is just like the kagome2 I imagined!"
It ain't new to get rekt in a touhou game in the first few tries. But, that's why you have the Practice option. At least, it beats getting decapitated by Nazi scientists. Because once you die in real life, you don't get a respawn or retry.
Out of all the fantastic Stage 5 themes out there, this one has to be my favorite. It's so powerful. Mystic Oriental Dream ~ Ancient Temple being my 2nd favorite, and Lullaby of a Deserted Hell being my 3rd.
its relevant to the stage this theme is for. "A pure cage in an impure world," refering to the lunarians sanctuary in Eientei on Earth, the "impure world."
I watched Robotics;Notes back in 2013 and it uses "Kagome Kagome" as a leitmotif to signal that things are about to go very bad, very quickly. Years later, I played Imperishable Night, got to this stage for the first time, and I don't think I've ever experienced such sheer visceral terror in a video game as I did upon hearing the first bars of "Kagome-Kagome". IIRC I did not survive for long after that.
This music makes me feel like this music sounds to me like I want to be a hero but it is not an easy thing to become a hero because I will face a lot of strong enemies !

Side note, but I’ve seen some people claim that the trumpets are “loud” or “annoying”, or that PCB’s soundtrack is “loud”, but I’d just suggest that they turn down their volume instead of playing it on full blast since I don’t see the problem with the music otherwise, and I’m using earbuds, ngl (I understand Necrofantasia, though). I always listen to music with the volume preferably under 70 decibels and it sounds great to me. Honestly, I really like this and I don’t care what anyone says. The music is just so desperate/intense, but awesome at the same time. It gives the vibe of “you have to save the world and if you don’t, it’ll be destroyed” I don’t know which one is my favorite, to be honest. I just find something that I like and talk about it, and there’s not really anything that I dislike about it either. I really like it Well then, let us meet again in the next song, shall we?
