      @@t.k.5844 One can argue that mob bosses & dictators like the Hutts are actually worse. While worshippers of evil tend to do shit tons of very explosive damage, they also tend to expire quickly & prematurely. The only Rakata Empire was able to even last that long was due to having unlocked means to replace whatever far faster than the rate of their expiration. On the contrary, that level of selfishness that the Hutts embodied meant that, while they did far less damage, said damage was far more torturous & grueling, & coupled that with the Hutts' natural physical resilience, made them extremely enduring & hard to kill in all sense of the word.

      I think their resistance to the force has something to do with the unique structure of their brain, rendering them immune to its influence on the mind. As for Hutt jedi/sith, that I think was because of there relationship with the Republic being a sort of adversarial indifference. It may have been an assimilated cultural idea. I would find a video on how did the hutts buy politicians to control planets, were there any really notable examples?
    Also when you mentioned that on the Hutt council there was a more militant clan, did the other hutts buy security and military services from that clan, in a sort of common defense? Or would an invasion into Hutt space only be the concern of the Hutt who ruled that bit of space?

      Probably because they had goods and services that were either illegal or considerably cheaper (thanks to things like slavery) than others. At that point, markets are gonna do what markets do. Morality hardly enters the equation.

    • @drakejohnson5386
      @drakejohnson5386 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@alynames7171 something I have never understood in star wars is slavery. (I am going to completely remove the morality argument as the only more terrible crime against humanity/aware beings is geoncide. There is no justification for slavery. My inquiry lies solely from an economic/buisness perspective)
      I don't understand why slavery is used with such a widespread distribution of droids. The Solo movies says that a kessle mine slave lives for only 8 months. So every 8 months the spice miners need to pay for new slaves. Wouldn't it make more sense to buy a fleet of droids, stronger and more durable than any slave? A droid only requires a small amount of electricity and maintenance. Slave needs food, water and sleep. Even if droids are more expensive than slaves, they should last much longer. In other senerios, droids don't rebel as long as you mind wipe them. Slavery seems to be more inefficient, with the only cost being the droid, power and an engineer. Slavery only seems to make you seem more intimidating, but even then. If you were to walk into a crime lord's place and saw malnutritious slaves or a bunch of droids that could kill you with only a word, who would you be intimidated by?
      In the 40k universe, slavery or quasi-state-backed-slavery only makes sense due to the fear of technology (specifically AI) and how abundant and cheap human life is in that franchise. Not saying that is any reason for slavery to exist, just I can see why it is practiced.

      @@drakejohnson5386 Huh, that's a good point. Obviously the REAL answer is for the narrative, but I figure we're all here because we want something more interesting than that. So I guess I'd have to say the intimidation thing maybe. Show would-be troublemakers what they could end up as. Beyond that it's probably the same as the real world: there are specific local conditions, constraints on supplies, or the task is specialized enough that using slaves is more cost-effective. Any more detail than that will probably have to wait for _Star Wars: Spreadsheets of the Old Republic._

    This video states they evolved on the planet Varl, a tropical paradise.
    I thought it was Nal Hutta. A swamp planet. George Lucas personally designed the look for Clone Wars. And they have bodies like slugs because it's easier to move there. No offense to the author, there are multiple competing stories for every detail probably.

Much is the same with the information from 1:40 to 2:01 and 2:25 to 2:57, as, in current canon, Hutts are now only single-sex beings and thus not only need another Hutt of the opposite sex to reproduce with but also can no longer change genders, so Jabba is just a guy now in canon.
