    I quit my lab job and had to send a lot of resumes out.
    Took roughly the same amount and 2 months to get a job. 4 months later I'm getting job offers left and right for stuff I barely remember signing up for

    I quit my job to do a Master's. I'm done with the masters and currently applying for jobs & just like you said man "It Sucks"

      Hang in there man, definitely feel that pain though

      I saw many people have master and the paid is stupid low is crazy,plus entry level 3-4 year salary.

      @urchymanny doing a master's although having work experience doesn't sound very smart. Puts you right back into the entry level bracket after you're done. A bachelor's and work experience is all you need to climb the corporate ladder.

      I honestly don't understand why you would do that since most people's motivations for getting a Masters is to make money plus recouping the cost of studying. Most people I know if they really want study while having a job or a business or did it overseas and use it as a means to get a visa and hopefully better job opportunities abroad.

    I appreciate your post. Gives me hope! Been laid off 14 months now. Somewhere around 500 apps, didn't get anywhere near the response rate. About five actual interviews, three very technical, one LeetCode. Guess I have some things to work on there with getting responses. Thanks again!

      That’s tough man I’m sorry to hear that. I really do think it’s a numbers game at some point I just wish the numbers didn’t have to be so high. Hang in there, wishing you the best of luck 😤

    Very insightful! As somebody who sits on the other side of the interview table a lot, I totally understand your frustrations. Getting hired is hard, but making good hires is also hard 😅 I'm glad to say that we strive to be more like Stripe and less like Amazon.

    pretty much went through the same thing as you, layoff in may, then perpetual ghosting, rejections, failed interview stages cause there is always someone with more experience - not surprised to see the companies that ghosted you cause I applied to many of the same roles at the companies listed and yea same😂😅

    • @ginothedev

    In your 2022 stats I saw that you passed all the interviews at Oracle but they stopped the process before the panel one? If you got an offer from them would you have accepted?

    • @ginothedev
      @ginothedev  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It’s honestly hard to say. I’ve heard there are some nightmare teams at Oracle (like most places), but the folks I interviewed with were really nice. If it had been a better offer than Toast I might have taken it. I was still in the process, but the panel would’ve been like a week after I had gotten my other offer, and I needed to give a decision before that, so I just ended up taking Toast.

    Lets also talk about what the application process was like. Did you submit a resume on a job board? Through the company’s hiring site? Dis you fill out a bunch of manual applications? Did you submit cover letters? Did you optimize your resumes for each job? Tell us more abiut that

    • @ginothedev
      @ginothedev  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Good questions, Linkedin job listings I almost always applied directly on the company's website. I manually filled out all applications, but most applications are quick these days (lever, greenhouse, etc.). No cover letters, and same resume for each job.

    Hey, quick question about this, how many YoE do you have under your belt, and what degree do you hold? I've applied to hundreds so far and haven't heard back much this year. Only a few HR calls but no interview conversions.

    • @ginothedev
      @ginothedev  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hey mate yeah I probably should’ve mentioned that. I have 4 years of experience and a bachelors in computer science. Sorry to hear that you haven’t heard back much, hang in there mate!

    do you think that since your past entry level, the interviews start caring less about leet code ? you mentioned 3 out of 9 asked leet code which is 33% that’s honestly not as crazy as i expected.

    • @ginothedev
      @ginothedev  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hm that’s a good question. I would think level wouldn’t be a factor, but it’s possible that it could be

      Leet code is stupid IMO. Theory stuff you never use on the job.

    Pro Tip from a Recruiter:
    Consider the benefits of being clean shaven on your LinkedIn and interviews. You can guess why.

    sorry but you are applying for roles that doesn't match your profile I think front full stack to backend to game dev and maybe your profile doesn't match their stack if they are looking for c# or java or nodejs or golang and what if you don't have relevant experience in those

    • @ginothedev
      @ginothedev  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It was like 3 game dev jobs but yeah I’m sure that’s why I didn’t hear anything. I probably could’ve increased my chances if I had a backend tailored resume and a full stack tailored resume but it all worked out 🤷🏼‍♂️
