How To Create Arrows In Photoshop With ONE CLICK

  • Making arrows in Photoshop can be a bit time-consuming if you go about it manually each and every time. In this Photoshop tutorial you'll learn how to create any type of arrow from scratch, and then save them as brush presets to easily use them later on in future projects. This way you save yourself a ton of time and there's no messing around with shape settings. In this video, you'll learn three different ways to draw lines in Photoshop. The first and easiest way is with the line tool and adding an arrowhead, the second way is using a selection, creating a stroke, then manually adding an arrow head, while the third is using the pen tool to create a wavy arrow shape. With these three techniques, you'll be able to easily add any type of arrow to your projects with Photoshop!

    Wicked cool! I love the techniques that are so simple yet profound! They leave you scratchin your head thinking, "Why didn't I think of that..?" Way more expandable than just trying to rely on complex paths or skewing of straight arrows! Thanks!

    Can't believe there's really no magic arrow tool to easily create an arrow. This video did manage to help though so I really appreciate it. Although, would it be better to make arrows in Illustrator rather than Photoshop? I hear you have more flexibility when in Illustrator?

    Very clear & easy to follow! One question though. When making a straight arrow with the line tool you can set the size of the head independently of the length of the line. That's good. However, it seems that if you save an arrow shape as a brush, you will lose that, right? The only way to modify the arrow is with transform. Doing that the entire arrow including the head can be expanded and contracted, so the arrowhead will grow and be reshaped the same.

    It is infuriating that Adobe didn't just provide the option to just add an arrow to the end of a stroke using the pen tool in photoshop - especially since the option is there in illustrator. And the line tool only allows you to create straight 2 point lines. What if - and I know this is crazy - you want to create a line with a bent joint in the center that has an arrow at the end? I appreciate the video, but this is such a convoluted way to accomplish something that would be SO EASY if Adobe just gave the pen tool the same functionality in photoshop that they do in illustrator....sigh.....

    • @VictoriaHannahStudio
      @VictoriaHannahStudio 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes yes yes @Paul Zurbrugg it is infuriating. I am in no way proficient with either Ps Or Ai and I keep forgetting that they operate differently, I was looking for the arrowhead line in Ps and then realised after about an hour it was only in Ai!!! For heaven's sake why can't Adobe sort this out. This is still an excellent video to answer my problem thanks, @Brendan Williams.

    After making the curvy line and arrowhead, then merging the two layers -- I cannot get a selection of the curvy arrow. Instead when I try and make the brush it records the entire area of the layer so when using that brush I get a huge rectangular shape of the layer as the result.

    • @BrendanWilliamsTutorials

      When you are using the triangle tool? This can happen if the corner rounding setting is too high and makes the triangle a blob kind of. With the triangle tool selected, go to the properties panel then look for the Appearance options and adjust the edge rounding settings to 0.
