Animation for cartoons is a lengthy process and episodes are made all _at the same time._ The apocalypse backstory was always going to be there. Regardless of this episode, this just lays more of the ground work that was already built and thought of.
did you never notice the literal radiation bombs sitting there at the beginning of the intro before? They had this stuff planned from the beginning. The suits were literally covered in sores from radiation poisoning.
I think it’s hilarious that this is the episode that actually shaped the entirety of the rest of the show, both in and out of universe. I can only imagine if Nux found out this is actually a wildly important episode in the grand scheme of things

The Lich was my favorite villain on Adventure Time when I was a kid and I think he'll like that arc. I know he won't like him more than the Ice King, but I bet he'll enjoy the darker tone the show takes during and after that.
Okay, but it it just nothing like having no obligations for the day, making cozy nook for yourself, having a bunch of snacks, weed, and watching Adventure time/Regular Show/Gravity Falls/Gumball/Chowder/ect. 11:44 I get why people think they want it, but they don't really they don't what they want is just a momentary break, a moment where they relax so they can enjoy things that are easier to enjoy. compared to the work that is or isn't sastisfying(depends on you) that can be boring, But in a way that kind of challenge makes optimism, ice cream and sleeping so great you did something difficult in service to something you value which made you stronger and now you get to relax to evtually comeback to it all over again. what makes it so valuable is because YOU did it, you cleaned the dishes, you did your essential job(no matter how much souless executives think every job is essential no matter how society feels about it, like Janitos are such an esstial help to society compared to celeberies that just exist) and you made the bank to pay for things you enjoy and have control over, instead of some soulles thing or other person doing it for you. 9/10 of ten times you'd rather suffer to achieve a grand goal than have someone else achieve it for you, as well you may have gotten the reward but you go no success/sastisfaction of doing it yourself. SO no I want a reality were everyone is influenced to help and improve eachother, were freedom, life and property is highly valued understood, where the school system actually cares to teach essential skills like fiance, overcoming failure and creativity to children, to teach boys without fathers how to be men and teach girls without mothers how to be women, were Pride doesn't control greed. were the only people who are homeless have to really try to be that way, its kinda somewhat here since if you are well financed person or decent you will get atleast a decent household with your work no matter how much bullshit comes up.
I love it when I cook mutagenic zombie business guys with a makeshift flamethrower and then they do your business for you but then they do too much business men things, destroying your capability to do anything yourself and the dudes build a mech or something and everyone are friends in the end. Nux it's going to be a long time before you get there but when you get to the Hall of Egress episode you HAVE to watch a breakdown video on it as well. It's one of the deepest episodes in the series with a few different interpretations.

I like the commentary in this episode on corporations. It's would be easy for the writers to just be like cApItAlIsM bad but they don't (well not at least until later anyway). It displays how corporation can often act super robotic in their desire to maximize profit which ends up causing to lose sight on other important things, in this case freedom and happiness. Good episode
