    That's impressive for a home built machine. Some store bought ones probably aren't as good.
    Great skills my friend, the people who just say go buy one probably live next to harbour freight in USA, you show way more skill in actually building your own.

    I'm pretty sure you could've got the same result buying a tig torch with a gas valve on the torch plugged straight onto the regulator and the lead connected to the hose... Did i miss a hf start function?

    Very fun video to watch. Instead of "scratch starting" try "flicking" the tip between the weld surface and the tungsten electrode with the filler wire. This will help you in the long run because it helps prevent a contaminated electrode.

    Bro I am watching it again.And wanted to know few things..How much argon costs,,and Filler rod price...Since I don't Visit Local shop I don't know about the costing...I am planning to make this conversion with my Esab in future and I just want To Keep eveything simple By just mounting all the components Like Pnematic valve,Power supple and connector outside I,e On another enclosure ..And Connecting tig torch to machine would be the only work everything external..Eht do you think about this

    • @ambroscustom
      @ambroscustom  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Dear gas prices are not same everywhere in India and depend upon the cylinder size it's varied alot.I have 1mtr. High cylinder which cost me 1000rs to fill. The 6ft tall cylinder cost double now a days and due to market inflation they are increasing rapidly. And the filler rod costs around 800-1000 rs per kg and since it's a 5 kg packing you can calculate it. As far as conversion is concerned I suggest you to buy a tig welder rather than going for conversion because stick welder does not come with high frequency board and doing scratch tig and lift tig is not comfortable process to do. So my recommendation is to go with good tig welder because trust me that js worth the money spending. If you are just a hobbyist you can go with this conversation there is no problem in that and making a separate unit for the conversation is good and easy to do. So chose the decision based upon your usage. Good luck

    Couldn´t you just mount a finger/mechanically-actuated gas-valve directly on the torch ??? I´d have saved you lot of trouble.... Do you have to scratch, in order for the arc to build-up, or can you start the arc from 1-2cm of distance...??? Thanks for any answer, I know little about such stuff, and make stupid questions, maybe...

    • @ambroscustom
      @ambroscustom  ปีที่แล้ว

      It's possible but not economical. Solenoid valve is much better option to control the gas and once the switch is released the valve shut down the gas supply and yes it's the scratch tig, it's not possible to ignite the spark 1 cm above the surface. Don't worry about questions brother, you are welcome always.

    What happen without gas soldering

    • @ambroscustom
      @ambroscustom  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Without gas welding (arc welding) just switch off the red rocker switch that I have installed. In normal stick welding you not need to press red switch. Connect your welding holder and do weld as per required current. I made tig welding circuit separate that will not affect stick welding function.

      The Aragon gas act as a shield gas between non consumable tungsten electrode and weld material. Without gas air may enter to your weld joint which will make your weld joint porous and your tungsten electrode become black and dull in sharpness and you get poor quality weld.

    Tig welding machine is using high- pressure spark ignition.
    You have not touched the soldering iron to the metal. If you press the switch, will the soldering iron spark?

    • @ambroscustom
      @ambroscustom  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      No it's not going to spark that way, that's why it's considered to be scratch tig or lift tig.

      two more mods you could cheaply and easily do .
      1. HF starter boards are cheap off eBay, amazon etc.. why not add a High-frequency starter to the machine, the wiring on how you do it would be interesting to see.
      2. add two more dense connectors to get AC current , 1. dinse connected directly to the transformer to get AC , the DC get from your current setup out of the full-bridge rectifier

    • @ambroscustom
      @ambroscustom  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Dear during the video there is a schematic of the machine I showed. It has everything you actually need. There is a link to the file as well. Although that switch controls the 24v power supply. The negative connected directly to the power supply From welding machine on off switch and the positive to the power supply connected via this red switch.

  • @tanmaynaskar

    very impressive 👍👍
    but
    1st it's only strech TIG welding.
    because no HF added. and
    2nd thig is 24 volt is present itself in this machine,so you don't need external 24volt adaptor for powering the solenoid valve.

  • @thelastgs-pian9965

    • @ambroscustom
      @ambroscustom  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      No. The gas will continuously flow through the tig torch even when you are not welding for that I have installed a gas valve in it.

    • @ambroscustom

      These stick welders are dc you can't make ac tig welding machine, you need seperate board, so it's better to buy machine. These hacks are good if you have to do little bit of work. For heavy work, use genuine machine.
