Buzz Aldrin Tries To Gaslight Conan O'Brien On The 1969 Moon Landing?

  • Buzz Aldrin talks to Conan O'Brien back in May of 2000 about the Apollo "Moon Landing". Conan tries to tell Buzz he (Conan) saw the moon landing happen on Live on TV with his family and Buzz refutes this saying that's not what happened yet it was broadcasted on television Live around the world. Was Buzz Aldrin trying to Gaslight Conan O'Brien? Is Buzz giving the game away here or trying to get out of lying?

Due to the video camera and antenna bandwidth, Apollo 11's exterior video was slow, low resolution, black & white. It wasn't compatible with NTSC used in American TV and real time electronic conversion didn't exist.
*The solution:* The transmission was displayed on a monitor with a slow decay rate. A standard TV camera was aimed at this monitor providing the video that was broadcast. The ghosting was due to the interlaced scanlines, slow frame rate and slow decay.
On Apollo 15, 16 and 17, a high gain antenna on the rover allowed a remote controlled color video camera with a higher frame rate.

@@QuestioningOurReality _"and NASA produces garbage imagery"_
I explained the limitations with early Apollo video from the Moon. You are overlooking the still photography and motion pictures (on film) from Apollo, which were often outstanding imagery, including Earthrise from Apollo 8 and Blue Marble from Apollo 17.
Since that time NASA has collected outstanding digital photographs (imagery) from unmanned probes, especially those sent to Mars, Jupiter and Saturn and the unprecedented photos from Hubble Space Telescope. So too images (photographs and video) of Earth from the ISS, satellites in LEO and DSCOVR.
The assertion about NASA using "images" and "imagery" to refer to what are not photographs and not real, amounts to equivocation and is nonsense. They are every bit photographs as digital cameras take or special instruments produce, like IR cameras that show heat loss from your house. They are not CGI unless specifically designated as CGI or similar, or if the use is obvious, as images _of_ the JWST before it was launched.
_"and spacecrafts a 5 year old could build. Come on."_
Can you build a Saturn V? The complete Saturn V-Apollo vehicle assembly was an engineering marvel in itself and for being created in less than a decade. It was an enormous project and very expensive.
The Lunar Module is frequently maligned. The insulation panels are mistaken for the body and the insulation value of the foil was increased by crumpling it somewhat. Further the LEM operated not on Earth but in the low gravity of the airless Moon.
The responses to the hoax claims can be found in a book _Moon Hoax: Debunked!_ by Paolo Attivissimo, also published at a website by the same name: moonhoaxdebunked followed by the same ending as TH-cam's url. (If I post urls, the YT algorithm deletes my comment.)

After they landed they had a camera for the space walks and the flag but there was no way to live broadcast video footage of the moon landing in 1969. However there was animations to show what it would have looked like for the lunar lander to touch down onto the surface of the moon. There were no cameras on the moon to televise the event which makes sense. What didn't make sense was animation. In 1969 animation was done using drawings on paper. Animation didn't look real and hasn't until the last few years. No cgi or computer programs back in 1969. I wonder why Buzz here stated it was animation? I can see maybe filming in studio using filters to make it look blurring and fuzzy. Now if the moon landing was fake why did he play along? Was he even an astronaut? Was he an actor?

Buzz was just being very specific/technical about Conan's comment about "watching him land" on the moon. All Buzz was saying was that nobody watched them "land" because they were not able to broadcast the descent (was instead shot on 16mm film). So during the descent to the surface, the news stations used a clearly marked animation to serve as a visual aid for viewers. The actual broadcast of Armstrong climbing down the ladder did not start until about 6 hours after they landed. They routinely used animations and studio mockups for all Gemini and Apollo missions during those times when the astronauts could not transmit video. You can look up the original CBS broadcast right here on youtube and see exactly what Buzz was talking about.

Damn! Holy shit! Whoa! I can't believe this little clip is on YT! And that only 212 views? I was only able to stumble across it in link left in the comment section of another video. It should be VIRAL!. This short clip would once and for all put the final nail in the NASA moon landing hoax coffin if widely circulated. Hell, it would be the death knell for NASA altogether! Always knew Buzz Aldrin was doing everything he could to not betray the hoax he participated in. The poor guy's been in and out of AA rehab and mental institutions for much of his post-Apollo life. And I've heard him try to hint that it was all a hoax in other video clips. Obviously, all of those men were sworn to secrecy under pain of frightful repercussions if they spilled the beans. That's why Neil Armstrong remained a recluse for most of the rest of his life. No one should doubt the enormous courage of those men putting their lives on the line every time they squeezed into one of those hopeless experimental contraptions that could even fly on earth, much less the moon. But you also have to pity them for having to live that lie their entire post-Apollo lives. It's got to feel like "stolen valor" for them. In fact, the pompous American propaganda portraying as the greatest civilization ever amounts to a civilization built on "stolen valor"! That's not to say that we aren't an extraordinary country of remarkable achievements. We are. But so much of our self-image, as well as our externally projected image, is built on myth and outright lies, like the moon landings. Can't we still recognize the greatness of this country and its peoples without all the bullshit tall-tales and hoaxes? Do we really need to hold on to this Apollo fabrication? No we don't!...Great clip! Hope more people get to it.

For anyone actually interested in learning something: Buzz Aldrin is stating that no one actually saw them LAND on the moon because there were no cameras on the lunar surface. The world only heard their voices as they navigated towards the surface (and later video from a camera facing the pilot's window which shows dust as they land). A couple of hours later everyone saw Neil walk down the ladder via the remote camera attached to the outside of the Lunar Module. So, no one saw the actual landing but everyone saw Neil climbing down the ladder to take his first step.

The astronauts did not record some of the key moments and the cameras were affected by radiation in some key scenes too, requiring complementary footage to be recorded in the studio afterwards. NASA is not hiding this, it's a well-known fact.

Conan O'Brien watched animations and/or simulations produced by one of the 3 television networks. The word "ANIMATION" or "SIMULATION" was displayed on-screen, though CBS didn't display it constantly during the Apollo 11 descent.
There is no conspiracy here. There was no external video camera to record the descent, and none used in the LEM. The astronauts were busy and radio bandwidth was limited.
I don't believe anything was recorded in a studio by NASA. Rather the networks produced simulations. Usually amateurish, it was occasionally comical - ABC's Apollo 12 simulation showed astronauts reading a newspaper in the Lunar Module seconds before liftoff. Not what the actual astronauts were doing.
The relevant network video from CBS and ABC is on TH-cam. Notice "ANIMATION" or "SIMULATION" displayed on screen. So it's not a secret conspiracy or deception.

@Robert Thomas We're not talking about the CBS and ABC videos on TH-cam with animation or simulation. We're talking about the footage that was given to us by NASA and the media that allegedly portrays the astronauts landing/walking on the moon. Are you aware of that footage or only the CBS and ABC simulation/animation nonsense?

I hope everyone here is trolling. I mean, come on! Anyone seriously thinking a 45 second sound bite pulled out of a 6 plus minute long interview leads to some conspiracy... @@QuestioningOurReality Really now... that's like asking me to chew your food for you! Seriously?? I though 'do your own research' was a mantra of the bizarre skeptic
I'll give you the short answer, though. The important bits of that interview that aren't here... is the rest of the interview! The part(s) where he says things (not so cryptically) that suggest the LEM did land on the moon while he was in it. If you're willing to suspend reality because of a 45 second soundbite, it's very possible the remaining 5 minutes-plus of the interview might debunk your assertion long before it gets to your keyboard.
Unless you're presupposing, and actually 'want' NASA to be a hoax. If that's the case no one can chew your for you good enough to keep you from intellectually starving. So be it!
