You certainly live in a blessed place. I'll need to have a month off work without the travel restrictions and join you down there. Awesome finds inspiring as. Thanks for your vids
Gday chris.6.33 looks like a moa gastrolith to me.i have many of these and they are quite common but a look under a magnifying glass or microscope will confirm.well done mate! cheers
Cheers mate! Yeah im certain they're there but i wouldnt have the confidence to declare it an ex gastrolith myself. Got some nice ones from the hills anyway ;-)
It's so amazing to see the power of the ocean, how different the beach is each time. The spaceship agate was a fantastic find but I also liked the broken off chunky piece. Beautiful stuff, thanks again 👍🏼
Glad you enjoyed it! The chunky bit isnt uncommon so I guess whats more exciting for me is something fully intact, as you never know whats in there. I love beach rockhounding, different every time
Oh my, that is beautiful indeed. And the scenery is even more outstanding--no beaches here unless you count the lake nearby--just no crashing surf and seagulls, LOL. How do you know which way to cut the agates so they look so pretty? Is there a science to it, or just learn by experience? At any rate, that one was worth the trip, wasn't it? Woo-hoo!
its part guesswork and part experience. You need to figure out the orientation, and then depending on what you think might be inside from past experience, choose a plane to cut across. usually cut on the Y-axis, but sometimes its impossible to tell
I got one as a gift and then I got a baby national geographic branded one used for $20. It works but its built poorly and often struggles with various issues
Beautiful finds. Deserted beach! They are tumbled already by the ocean...fab!
