Carly Fiorina-former CEO of Hewlett Packard, Republican candidate for Senate from California, and current JMU Board of Visitors Member-continued the Madison Vision Series: Contemporary Issues in an Engaged Society on April 9, 2014. Fiorina spoke from her personal experience as a strong advocate for undergraduate education, answering the question, "Why study liberal arts?" As a powerful businesswoman who launched her successful career from the foundation of a B.A. in medieval history and philosophy, Fiorina built on recent calls to action for American universities to return their focus to teaching students in a wide range of valuable disciplines.
She's great at public speaking. It's very easy to follow what she's got to say, and the things she talks about are relevant and interesting.
This speech is truly awesome.Gave me so much confidence.the nation needs her
1. There is no substitute for hard work, there is no substitute for pursuit of excellence.
2. Do not let others define you, define yourself.
3. Leadership is about making positive difference.
4. If you believe the good, stick with the bad.
5. Diversity, judgement, perspective.
6. You have to keep dancing until the music stops.
7. Spiraling up.
8. Ethic reasoning.
9. Add value, unlock the potential in others.
10.If you're a wmn or minority, the standards are much lower and society "owes you a free ride".
