Mann, that ending😭 Props to guys for covering this topic in the past though, as many people(myself included) had no clue about these poisonous toads in south Florida. I will definitely utilize your method with my own dog when I move down to FL🙏🏽💯
"It's nothin' personal. I'm not mad at him. 'Don't bite your sister in the face.'" That was pretty much my dad explaining to me what was going on while he was training our younger male German Shepherd not to bite his momma. I just found this channel and your training techniques are very relatable. Thanks for sharing your amazing knowledge.
Me and my brother has brother n sister rottweiler they're gifted because I can't have children and want lil cousins to go for niece n nephew to play, and God sent me my Luna
So sorry to hear the tragic news about Nova, my sincerest condolences. Thanks for sharing the info about the poisonous toads. I'll certainly be checking my area now and looking into treatment options, including the availability of anti-venoms. Stay frosty out there folks!
Excellent video, and kudos to Josh for being willing to share this with everybody to drive home the point and hopefully save other dogs lives. This is something I'll definitely keep in mind if we travel south to areas that may have these toads. I believe they were brought to the US as an invasive species and since they have no predators here to keep them in check, they are almost a plague. My heart goes out to Josh and (I think) Shannon on this tragic loss. At least if they get another dog, they will know more about how to properly train their dog, and possibly send the dog to a board and train with Garret. Excellent analogy too - if you want to be the best, you need to train hard. The same goes for having excellent dog obedience. A few hard corrections and 95% of the work was done for the thresholds and the walk and not lunging at cars. Some clean up work and consistency is all that is required going forward.
I honestly used to hate the prong colors i used to think they were inhumane but after watching how much they literally improved these dogs lives i see there point
That was a sad ending to a great video. Great work as always Garret. Love the videos, Hannah and I came to see you with Max back in June and he is doing so much better with his fear based aggression. He still has work to do but we’re working day in and day with him and he loves working with myself and my wife. Thank you for everything.
I'm late watching this. Awesome video! Great work you did there, beautiful dog and Josh Hart is thankfully someone who seems to listen to our advice. Enjoyed watching it 👍🏼 Dang, I definitely didn't watch to the end when I wrote it. So sad! But good that you are raising awareness!
Ηell of a job, Garrett! Every time I watch a video with you teaches me something more about dog behavior and also how we have to handle them! Many, many Thanx!
So thankful I found your videos. Just adopted a large Heinz 57 puppy and your techniques and training tips will help beautifully. Thank you American Standard Dog training and Thank you Garret.
Omg! Devastating! 😢 they were amazing in this video! Super smart dogs, Josh & Shannon seemed like great dog parents so sad for their loss! 🙏🏽 up for them! Hope their big man is doing ok after losing his sister! I’m from Cali we don’t have toads, disgusting things!
I don't know this guy I've never met him or talked to him. But I do enjoy his videos. I think hes very knowledgeable a And probably one of the best dog trainers you could get to train your dogs. I know there's many trainers out there many good ones. If I could do it this would be who I would go with. If you watch his videos hes excellent with the way he interacts with the dogs. Amazing job with the dogs. If you can afford it look him up online and sign up. I don't think keep you disappointed.
Australia's Bondi Vet has several episodes on their channel of dogs with toxic toads/frogs poisoning and how they handle it. But in Australia they know that practically every thing is poisones.
He is an amazing dog trainer I love his videos with all due respect he's better than Cesar Millan because he actually explained everything in details❤❤❤
I wouldn’t say better remember Cesar is on a show they can’t show everything. They use the same techniques like collar work and physical touch to snap dogs out of it very much pack leader, energy based.
Oooo that ending…. A shock So terrible 😞 They were so nice side by side Zeus must have feel lonely Didn’t know about that poisonous thank you for the info
Gotta love this guy lol excellent trainer easy to understand methods. And Josh is paying attention! Also, the environments like that you gotta watch out for the wildlife, whether its dogs or kids this is Very important 😢
I can't imagine how terrible Garrett felt that next morning when he received that call about the dog. I live in Michigan but am moving to South Florida and read up on them. I had never heard of them either.
Just train your dog to avoid ALL toads. There are roads that look almost exactly like the poisonous one, but are harmless. It’s best to just train avoidance for all of them.
Absolutely the best(in my opinion)pet trainers on the planet!!!! Thanks for the videos and tips! My hope is that you guys can expand into Buffalo,NY!!!
Thank you dearly, guys, and Garret personality, for all your tutorials and tips!!! I'm just stupidly enjoying watching your videos and dogs transformations that take minutes literally!
I live in Florida, and I’m always worried about my dogs trying to catch toads and lizards. We don’t know everything about all of our surroundings. I choked up at the end of this video. It’s difficult to lose a pet, especially when you don’t see it coming.
Poor Nova. I'm a rottie mom I love indica maybe more then myself. We live in az and have poisonus things including plants here. I am always hyperaware after she ate a mushroom growing on the side of our house and was so sick she almost died. I'm so sorry they lost Nova. I know that has had to break thier hearts.
Very informative video appreciate the explanation to the dog owner so that he himself can keep his dog way better in check and even understand his dogs better
I worked with a trainer today. Explained issue I had with cane toad poisoning puppy almost died. Told me to buy a rubber frog similar to the one she licked. Fill it with Vaseline and cover with cayenne pepper. Let the dog mess with rubber frog outside. She swears once pepper hits her mouth or nose she will never touch or approach a frog again. I did this with other dog now 13 she liked to eat baseboards rubbed those with jalapeños and she did stop the baseboard chewing. Something to try if aren’t good at the timed shock thing.
Perfect, great job with your Pit! If you ever want more detailed information on leash-walking - check out our new online course "The Perfect Walk" on DIYK9.com! The program will be released in a few days' time, and comes with a private forum where you can ask any questions, and receive guidance, throughout the training process. Best wishes!
My Corso does great in my yard when on his leash with the prong collar when someone goes past the fence but if he’s not on the leash he’ll run over and bark and run up and down the fence line. Any recommendations on how to help with this is appreciated!
I am so sorry he lost his dog. I had a close call with 16 pound cotón de tulear. I was with her saw the frog hop. I grabbed the dog rinsed her mouth on the side low flow on hose. Tossed her into garage picked up gardening tools went inside when I saw her she was pacing and drooling up a storm. I grabbed my purse and ran to the vet on the Fourth of July. Dakota made it through no worse for wear. She had projectile watery diarrhea for a few days but she is alive today. I was so lucky. She only goes out on leash and use weewee pads to avoid out at night. I dog proofed my house prefer to clean mess than risk dead dog. I am so sorry for his loss.
I’ve been training my gsd in a similar way for the last six months (he’s 9 months now ) Crazy how me and my wife still get looks from the Karen’s about the collars My inside joke is always give those Karen’s the dog without the tools and see how far they get within a week. It’s just not gonna happen These tools train these big dogs and avoid lawsuits
My ❤️ goes out to Josh Hart; my condolences for losing you're Rotty. I could tell by watching the video, you love you're dogs. Don't take the mental hit on this one, wasn't you're fault 😎.
Mann, that ending😭 Props to guys for covering this topic in the past though, as many people(myself included) had no clue about these poisonous toads in south Florida. I will definitely utilize your method with my own dog when I move down to FL🙏🏽💯
All toads are poisonous.
Maaan you are the real deal, finally found a trainer who actually knows “exactly” what is he doing. Great job 👏🏻👏🏻
Ever heard of Cesar
His good

So sorry to hear the tragic news about Nova, my sincerest condolences.

My girls name is Nova...I couldn't imagine😔😔
That's heartbreaking. Prayers to Josh and Shannon and may their pup rest in peace.
Oh no poor Nova. Sorry to hear.
Thank you for all the great information you give us all the time.

Fr man if it and if it doesn’t hurt for a human it for sure doesn’t hurt for a dog it corrects them and that’s the point 🫡

I appreciate that he trains the dad with the prong collar first. It teaches the dad the amount of pressure, and how to do it properly!
Our condolences go to Josh and his family ❤️

Thank you very nice of you. - Garret
Thanks for sharing this important lesson & PSA. Poisonous insects/reptiles and bloat (GVD) are top killers for large breeds.
He is an amazing dog trainer I love his videos with all due respect he's better than Cesar Millan because he actually explained everything in details❤❤❤

Does anyone know what he did to his leg when he was biting the sister ? It must be something equivalent to a pressure point or something
Thank you for making these excellent videos and for giving away so much knowledge about dogs!
Hugs and prayers 🙏 ❤ poor baby girl rip 😭

That so sad 😭 such a beautiful dog
Always so great watching you. You are amazing. What kind of hott dogs do you use. I tried some all beef Frank's and they hurt my Bully xls Tummy.

Epic video. Greetings from Morocco. I wish you could train my rotty

I have a two year old pit that pulls but I got a pronged collar and it’s been working wonders because he stopped pulling and listens with it
