When I was little in around 1951/2 I remember going to Tom Maysh's shop often. The penny farthing was often chained to a lamppost outside the shop. Quite a landmark at the time.
The photo taken of children outside Toms shop was not taken in 1938, it was taken about 1948. I'm in the photo with local kids. Also the photo of the shop with the window cleaner ouside is my father Arthur Hirst know as Jim.
Sorry to differ about the date the photo was taken, it was definitely taken aprrox 1948, i was born in 1939 and remember it well, i am the kid second in from the right. I did have a photo myself but sent it to the Palmers Green Gazette for there a archives.
What I meant was that the last photo in the film was from 1938 and the photo with you in was from 1948. As you were there the date you refer to is obviously correct and our explanation was out of sync as we moved a photo at the end of an edit. I explained that in our facebook group. Thanks for your input.
From Palmers Green Tales Facebook group, 'that was great to know, the final photo was of 1938 and the one Jim is talking about is the first one with children around the outside of the shop. His father is in the one where it is only him, the window cleaner outside the shop. Thanks Jim Hirst.'

Hi Jim, thanks for the info, think the last photo of the shop was from 1938. Great to know you are in the photo and your father's name. Thanks
