Thought at first it was that black cab you were pinging, for not getting far enough over on the right to make his turn (forcing the vehicle behind him to squeeze carefully past in order to make HIS turn, to the left). That's a habit that really gets my goat, sprawling all over the mouth of the road, so no-one else can get past you, even though there ought to be plenty of room for two vehicles to sit abreast.
He mentioned Uber. I always use Uber. I know the fare beforehand and there is no risk of a taxi driving me round for miles extra across a city I am in for the first time. That happened to me which I found out after the one quarter distance, time and price return trip, and it's why I've used Uber ever since.
Uber never used to use flat fares until recently and what about when you really need to get somewhere and they put surge pricing on to make it much more expensive than being driven around the block?
It’s obviously a problem spot that needs to be made more efficient to help the traffic flow. The people who take the cheeky short cut aren’t in the right but I can understand their frustration and temptation to cut the corner. It’s definitely a dangerous move to make and it would be far more productive to find a solution to this reoccurring problem than stand there waiting for the next problem to occur and getting a sense of satisfaction out of catching the the culprits. Some people have too much time on their hands being a busybody getting gratification out of an obviously problem point rather than trying to find a solution.
Just a bit of advice, you would be more effective if you don't hide behind a hedge and stood right at the corner with your camera visible, then drivers won't even try to do it
But then, when he's not there, the motorist will keep doing it. The element of surprise works better. It like having a police officer on every corner. No crime. But to catch someone in action has more power.

He's allowed to as part of his duties - getting around the park on his bike is how he's been told to do his job, including in the areas of no cycling for the rest of us. I'm fine with that. I do wish the many parks police motor vehicles that are driven through here by officers would instead use bicycles to patrol these areas.
