Why don’t I recognise any of the names who are commenting? This was my space!my childhood, my youth .,!
So many memory's of this park in the late 60s and early seventies, i live in Australia but every time i come back to North London i always go for a walk there thank you
Amazing to see Broomfield House in its prime. I've only seen it as it is now. Also - bonus points for the first thing I saw - Conway Road sign. Which is where I'm watching this from.
For the years 1997-2007 I have fond memories of visiting this place most Saturday afternoon on my way back home from the local synagogue with my brother, parents and two friends. It’s so nice to see the place up and running again.
When I was little in around 1951/2 I remember going to Tom Maysh's shop often. The penny farthing was often chained to a lamppost outside the shop. Quite a landmark at the time.
Was the NatWest building a cinema?
Very enjoyable. Palmers Green N13 has still many of its gorgeous period buildings, and I've recently read that Broomfield Park House is to be fully restored. Pity that Grouts closed down, as the vintage look & items are very popular now.
Thanks for your response, let’s hope the Broomfield House project happens in the near future.
Really interesting. I've tried to find photos of all the shops in Palmers Green including people shopping within the area from the start of the 20th century, but I've only came across just a few, sadly.
Mike seems a lovely man. Thoroughly enjoyed listening to his childhood memories of wartime Palmers Green
I was at Hazelwood 3 years before you. I recall it being non Greek Cypriot when l first went there. This all changed in 1967.
Fascinating pictorial tour of the local area. Michael is a great authority on the details that most of us miss.
I remember the swings and the slide - one of the longest around. When it was slippery you could get right to the end of the flat section. Great memories from the nineteen forties.
Fantastic this! 👍👍👍
Thanks
OMFG was that Colonel Callan
It was such a beautiful park back then. Now it's a disgrace, literally a shit hole where there used to be a boating pond.
Breaks my heart to see how this wonderful park has just been destroyed over the years
Things were good back then ..but years later they take away the boating pond ?
Top job!!
Fantastic this, cheers!
I love this channel. Subbed!
Thanks
Brought back alot of happy memories as a child.. thank you
It was my local playground and park as a kid, from dawn till dusk in school hols
It was Briggs sports and model shop I used to buy Revel construction kits From there. 1949-1981 was my era Moved out to Herts as was forced out by Mrs Fazakerley, Grouts was a time capsule, Evans and Davis had a cash railway. Home and Colonial stores were near Mac Fisheries. Bush Hill Park was affluent and the best road was Broad Walk allegedly TV and music performers lived there.
Never heard so much rubbish. Are you Adrian day going to give your expensive car up???there are Parks everywhere in this borough. Why on earth would families want to play y a main through fare.???? Total propaganda and only if people agree with yr madness and nanipulation can one join better streets otherwise you are removed. You are toxic abd poison
Each parklet consists £20000.... This could provide so much more for so many more people... Benches, greenery, safer crossings, cycle storage...... On the play zone isn't there a park nearby? I walk u0 miles per week, cycle a few, and drive less than 5 necessary miles.
Really relaxing video with great local info.
A bit of history saved for us all.
another example of how little we care about our public spaces anymore it was the most wonderful park and look at it now
I grew up in Southgate in1950's I loved watching the news in Broomfield Park House, also had my polio vaccination there. Our school had sports day on the running track , my brother used to sail his boat on the lake. The sensory garden was great
That should be bees,not news!
Such wonderful memories thank you love the music
Some of my happiest days were spent there
Enfield was so different back then.
Not different, just very English.
Hi Camilla, I've only just seen this. This was recorded after I'd seen you at Cecil Sharp House in December 2018. Great to hear about your beginnings and how you formed The Massive Violins.
Lovely !!!
Are you guys still going as I'm only just up the road ???
Well I never knew that. Thank you for the upload. I’ve lived here since the age if 5 and I am now 47. I have very nice memories of Broomfield park and celebrated my 47th Birthday by the round pond in June lockdown 2020
Pleased Peter’s knowledge has been useful and you enjoy your time in the park.
Wonderful! History in pictures. I could have enjoyed even more of this! Perhaps the person who has this collection would allow you to show some more?
Great footage! It was further away than Grovelands Park for me but brings back some memories, thanks.
Lovely
I grew up here, we used to sneak in and fish, and hide our bikes in the bush, like we were hiding our Horses in the movies. Love it. No internet no phones pc games Xbox....nothing, but your toys, family and friends and egg sandwiches. The park actually had a Park Keeper who wore a uniform almost police like, he would patrol the whole park, and give you a clip if you gave lip. Kids today carry knives and are rude evil little bastrds, I blame their parents
Thank you I remember running track there!
I used to always go to Rodwins when I was growing up in the 80s. I used to buy a lot of bouncy balls.
:0 hazel wood has changed so much
There was a farm?
Thank you, wonderful to see this park in 1960
