Paul...I totally enjoyed the vlog...but the last 5 minutes was really really good... Things got deep and it was natural and awesome...well done bro...I think 2 more years and I'll be ready to make the move...My thoughts when I head for the Philippines would be an old saying from my place, "forward ever, backward never"... ^_^
Enjoyed the interview and can totally relate. I retired at 50 and sold everything except what could fit in two suitcases. One way ticket to Thailand, then suffered from stress, anxiety, and culture shock. I found the cure for me; I deem it necessary to return back to California twice a year to “reset” and maintain a mental balance. 🦋
Excellent vlog guys - great stories. Totally agree with the discussion of western culture and how people are so disconnected with each other. So hard to find really good friends here as an adult. People are so afraid of each other. People are so different in the Philippines and so much friendlier.
I didn't expect much from this interview but it was another great interview. I can relate to much of what you guys talked about and it has given me a lot more incentive to go there and check it out with the intent of moving there.
Thanks for your insightful vlog. I have never been to the Philippines. But I have had many Filipino co-workers and friends. They have a great, warm culture. I can only imagine what is like to live there. Maybe I will vacation there someday.
The Paul and Paul show. Good content -it’s good to hear about someone that may go back to work. Plus, unloading stuff is what I am trying to start doing now.
Great video. This really resonates with me. Since the lock down I've decided to start living life. You really don't realize how much stuff you have until it's time to get rid of it. Just need to sell my house and the world to open up. I hope to visit the PI next year. Thanks again.
That made me laugh haha, I’m one of “ the thousand guys” who would need to get rid of so much stuff. Love your interviews Paul, always interesting, enjoyable and with some laughs. Well done again OD. Paul’s a nice guy
Awesome vlog. I’m a Maori native from COVID free NZ and even I’m sick of my own people and the foreigners here which have been here for 200 years by the boat of Abel Tasman. You guys are giving great advice. Loves
Great interview with your other brother Paul. Your guest has the best of both worlds. He's old enough to appreciate life, and young enough to have the time to live it. I'll go check his channel, and subscribe. Hopefully I can have a coffee with you both, when i head to Dumaguette in March. Salamat...
Downsizing is liberating, but for some, can be difficult. Trying to decide what you really need to keep and what to get rid of isn't necessarily as easy as it sounds. I've gone through my stuff 3 times and know I can still get rid of more. I've had to do it, back off, then go back to it again. Paul is right about the "sentimental value" of things making these decisions more difficult.
I am like Paul. I retired at 48 and managed my career succesfully where I can retire on a fairly decent budget. I had 3 jobs my whole life and made many sacrifices along the way that normal people could not or will not have done. So, I am blessed and things worked out. I have been divorced, lost everything 3 times and have faced death in eye more times then I would like to of had. However, I am 55 and in good health now and have traveled and lived in many places since being retired and having a home base in the USA. Not to many people are my age and retired with the mobility I have. The Crazy - thing is; I always want to go back to work or use my Skill Set within a fantastic company I can be proud of. However, my wife who is Thai reminds me of the B.S. of work and the arrows that come flying at your ass. I enjoyed work and having a title but the B.S. I have to remember. I think I just need a new hobby - which was traveling untl the virus happened. I did talk with a guy as I was getting ready to retire and he said he retired and went back to work after one year and regrets not taking off longer. He said 5 years off would have been great then re-enter the work force. Well, I am at the 5 or 6 year mark and really thinking about going back to work. Maybe at a lower status job in Non-Management. - Great interview...
"The female cops were flirting with me, asking me if I was single." What an ego booster! If not for the male cops there, they (female cops) might've dragged you into the interrogation room for some serious "questioning."
Ahhhh the Paul’s, really great vlog. I really respect the fact that you don’t pry into people’s finances but offer up good financial advise about living here. I’m gotta say the 1,500 USD or so expenses is a little low if you want to live a little more to the American lifestyle side. If you’ve got it, enjoy it, I’ve never seen a Brinks truck following a hearse. Then again I’d trade all the money in the world not to be disabled, living in paradise but limited in mobility can at times be a living hell. That said there’s no better place to be when your disabled. Americans want to not see you, not be reminded that we’re not young and healthy forever. I’ll always remember in the US an elderly man in a wheelchair shoved into the corner of a home for the elderly stinking in his own waste filled pants, no one there cared, room after room of people on their beds curled up in the fetal position waiting to die, no thanks I’ll pass on that. The Philippine people are so wonderful and treat the elderly and disabled with respect and care. Gotta think of the quality of life towards the end of life.
I had a lifelong friend that had polio when he was young and was on crutches and in a wheelchair.. I was planning on moving to the Philippines and he wanted to come with me and I said that is fine.. we have been lifelong friends and did lots of things together.. he got really sick last year and died.. we were planning on leaving in January.. then I was planning on leaving in the first week in April.. sometimes our plans just don't work.. are you planning on moving to the Philippines in the future?
Paul - Great Interview !! I like the comment this guy made about having 20 years of "STUFF" to sort through and sell before relocating. I am going through that now so I can relate plus I became a collector of specific antiques and now I don't need any of it - lol. I am glad to hear you guys state that it is the memories we associate with the "Stuff" that makes it hard to part with. I have believed this for a very long time so it is nice to hear others say the same thing. I like his thinking about going to other places to live and work for awhile. This is a great period in his life to explore and enjoy these types of things. I agree with you, if he is ready for something new or different, then it is good to go someplace different and continue the Adventure and get the Experiences. I will be viewing his channel next !! BTW - it is good to see the Chicken is Back !!!
Yep. Great video. At 55 and with a great deal of life experience, I've also grown very disillusioned with the U.S. Heck, you only have to spend 30 minutes on Match.com, read a bunch of profiles and get a clear idea that women here live in a fantasy world with high expectations and a low understanding of reality.

great video again Paul! I have moved and started over in 7 countries, due to work. . my rule, expect nothing, blend in, accept the local culture and make do. learn the local dialect to fit in quicker. life/happiness is up to your choices and adaptation to your environment

Paul tell Paul he is blessed to be able to retire at 53 and have the money to live well and have fun...Do not come back to America to work it sucks...I am 52 and would love to come to the Philippines and live for awhile and retire ..I have drove a truck over the road for 30 years I feel 62....I am still driving a truck and I am married to a filapina very happy...My point is he is there just stay there and live his life...God Bless
Excellent video, I plan on moving to Dumaguete as soon as allowed, I am in the process of liquidating all my assets, hope to meet all you guys in the future. 😀😷
Thanks guest Paul for getting rid of the gum! Today is my 62nd birthday and I have a filipino fiance in Orion, Bataan. I haven't been with her since January 16. We were supposed to get married on July 5 but we had to postpone that for obvious reasons. It is very depressing to be a prisoner of the covid fiasco. I enjoy watching all the videos of various expats and their experiences and am learning from the Old Dog! PS. Hey old dog, you have a very special girl in Baby Mae. Make sure you don't lose her!!!
Great vlog was aware of Paul’s channel and I can see he looks much happier then when he was in the States, I am stuck in Thailand and Paul’s girlfriend reminds me of my own in the Philippines, enjoying Thailand and have a new relationship here too, so quite a tricky situation, but I think I can handle it, that’s life. By the way Iam 67 your both young guys, good luck😎

Hi Paul, just a suggestion because I care for your health. I think you need to drink more fluid especially water because I know the climate there in the Philippines is hot to prevent you from dehydration and complications from dehydration. Thanks for the interesting vlog. Stay safe and healthy! 🤘
Paul you're a natural at interviewing, you keep it entertaining and moving along. If your area of the Philippines has an english talk show TV program, you should dye that ole silver hair brown, and then apply ;-)
Well hello Paul's this is Paul I enjoyed your video I was just sitting here thinking one of these days when I'm in the Philippines would be nice to meet you in person

Can't wait to see that interview!!
That’s a good idea 😊

Excellent chemistry between the two Pauls. An honest interview and good takeaways for someone who wants to lead the retired life.
Great remarks comparing the two cultures from a gentleman's perspective - zero doubt that more visitors will become expats

You told him straight Paul. We Viewers see through BULL SHIT.
I enjoyed your honest chat...I think it is a universal feeling from most men (and many women as well) in the west who have had the opportunity to travel to SE Asia, that basically it's just a way better quality if life on so many levels. Keep up the good work!
Well said!
Great interview Paul, you rock my friend. 😊

from what you guys say about America , sounds like it sucks ... Australians are pretty friendly..
you will always get a Gday,, how you going ? here .. it helps if you walk around like you own the place ,, and be totally polite .. the Philippines reminds me of Australia 20 years ago.. everyone is super friendly,, and have time to chat and waste some time ..

Great interview. I see Paul of Paul Asian's Adventure, likes to drink coffee. And if you have seen Juicy Vlog and Making it Happen TH-cam channels, they do love their coffees just like Paul, but they decided to buy their own coffee machine.
