  • The NAA Wasp in .22 Magnum
An interesting little five-shot rimfire wheelgun that North American Arms has probably sold a lot of.
Is it "good"? By modern defensive standards, probably not.
    Is it "cool"? Most definitely.
Would I rather carry a NAA than a sharp stick? Absolutely.

Please young people yal act like your going to war. Extra clips and can't hit a barn door. I've had a pocket mouse in my pocket for years and it's got me out of a lot of bad spot. Hats off to NAA and min guns. You can still use for self defense.

Years ago some where in the early 90's
In a leo mag i remember reading a story where one of the naa 22mag saved a state trooper life. Me and a buch of other guys bought one.
One sgt went with the lr vs instead because it would fit in to a Marlboro box size pack.
Btw i still use mine today still as a back up / hideout

Great gun for one old man who rides alone on a nice bicycle.

A friend of mine was caught in the ER with a pug on him. He called a lawyer and found he had a warrant out for him. The lawyer quickly intervened and eventually got the charges dropped, so be careful where you carry cause you don’t want a felony.

It's illegal to have a gun in a hospital?

@zelo533 yes, but if you are brought in by ambulance or are unconscious then you won't be charged because you didn't have mental capacity

I have only carried my NAA MINI .22 LR .. for backup to a larger gun.. or deep carry .. back in the early '90s I used to go to the hip hop dance clubs and the bouncers would pat you down for guns at the door.. I hid my NAA mini 22 standard in the arch of my shoe once inside the club I will go to the men's room and retrieve the gun place it into a pocket holster... It wasn't really for inside the club it was for that long walk at 3:00 a.m. in the dark parking lot back out to my car... Nowadays I carry a Taurus TCP 380.. in my right front pocket and a DeSantis Superfly holster with velcroed on flap to prevent printing in my pocket... The minimum caliber I carry is my ultra lightweight Kel-Tec 32..1st gen .. it's 7 oz unloaded.. very compact yet super reliable and super accurate out to about 40 ft.. I carry this in my front pocket in a DeSantis Nemesis pocket holster

I just got a NAA sidewinder in the 4" barrel version to meet Canadas barrel length laws.
I agree, faster shots in a .22 like a DA revolver or semi auto would be far superior.
The NAA is literally a gun for the "any gun is better then no gun" situation.
But they are fun and a worthy addition to a collection.

I purchase the wasp.22 magnum ( w extra .22lr cyl).. I had the shorter barrel version.. I wish I had gotten the longer barrel version.. as with .22 lr .. the difference between the two barrel lengths velocity difference is minimum..BUT . When shooting .22 Magnum ammo.. the slightly longer barrel gives much more velocity and stabilizes the bullet better

I just purchased a NAA wasp with a shorter barrel. 4 years ago.. I didn't like the front tiny post site.. so I purchased a tiny HI-VIZ shotgun site that is a glow tube .. I sanded the bottom of the metal on the HIVIZ sight and JB welded it to the top of my wasp just in front of the brass little post.. I now have a big dot sight that's easy to see it makes it a little easier to shoot

These are belly guns. Meaning...you push it into the belly and shoot it.
I didn't the buy the gun with the black gummy stock. Trying to pull it out of your pocket is not easy because it is so sticky.
Go with the wood stock on the small ported 22lr/ 22 mag version. In the front pocket it looks like keys. I carried it at a college while taking classes. If caught, I would have been arrested. But, since it looked like keys in the pocket no one knew it was a gun. Great piece of mind while carrying when you can't carry a bigger pistol.

Less accurate with 22 long rifle because barrel is 22 magnum. Very slight difference in diameter. Not made for target use. Up close and personal, get off me weapon.

  • @LexsLavrov1

Isn't it natural that shorter .22LR is less accurate than longer .22WMR because of increased jump to forcing cone and rifling?
I loaded some .357mag for my lever action. I loaded them so long that they will never feed from mag tube. But the product of this was the size of group cut in half.

    • @grahamohea2424
      @grahamohea2424 ปีที่แล้ว +1

It's certainly possible, but I don't think it can be attributed mostly to that. Despite the fact that .22LR and .22WMR are both called ".22", the .22 Mag is slightly bigger and uses a jacketed bullet instead of a lead bullet. Conversations between the two are certainly possible and safe, but it is not possible to adapt to both cartridges perfectly, so manufacturers have to tweak their designs to accommodate both. It is safer to design for the .22WMR due to its higher pressure and larger bullet size and just let .22LR do what it may. Realistically speaking, though, at something this small without ideal ergonomics, mechanical accuracy is not really the rate limiting factor

Got an uncle that carries one. Gonna try to purchase one and keep it on me along with another small revolver. Remember yall, switching to your side arm is quicker than reloading 🫡

I actually haven't seen the wasp sold without the rubber grips in at least 7 years, if I've ever seen it. Cool shit though, thank you brother
