【Synopsis】The King's Avatar follows the story of Ye Xiu, a professional esports player living in Hangzhou, China. Widely considered the best player of the video game Glory. Ye Xiu was captain of the esports team, "Excellent Era", holding the account of the 'Battle God', 'One Autumn Leaf' before being forced to resign from the team, giving up one of the strongest accounts in the game and leave the competitive scene due to his unwillingness to take part in any marketing to profit the team. Ye Xiu ends up finding work as a night-shift manager at Happy Internet Cafe, where he meets Chen Guo, the owner of the cafe who happens to be a huge fan of his alias 'Ye Qiu', his former team and character 'One Autumn Leaf'. While awaiting his return to the competitive scene, Ye Xiu continues playing the game, building a character from scratch pursuing the Championship and Glory.

Sad they removed the counting money scene in episode 3. It was the funniest part. Watching him count the money with an evil smile while the boss trying to console the girl who lost to him 😆
There is a cool pun that's lost to translation.
散人 pronounced 'San Ren' is translated to 'unspecialised class' but the character 散 means scattered/dispersed and 人 meaning person and so YeXiu's character name alludes to him being scattered from his original team.
There is another character in Chinese also pronounced 'San' 伞, which means umbrella so 'San Ren' sounds like Umbrella Man - coincidentally the weapon he uses.

I liked how they showed the dueling scene where he kept beating her from episode 3. I like how it shows the difference who is naturally good at the game and someone who has literally dedicated his whole life and soul to the game.
Unfortunately the subtitles are well off their timing after an ad at about 2:50:00. Makes the rest of it pretty much unwatchable for English speakers.

The car commercials are offsetting all the subtitles. The subtitles keep going as if the cartoon is still playing leaving all of the subtitles one car commercial ahead of the video.

i love the series, but always felt irked knowing that his original team mates didn't want Ye playing a game that is widely known too practically everyone.
so he got booted from a team? Big whoop, let the man play in peace XD
It was more a mix of the ambitions of the #2 guy, his teammates not playing as well as they could, and management being fickle that caused him to get dropped from the team. His retirement story doesn't really get completely told in the adaptations like the anime and live action.
Its just how some people are to them games are nothing more than a means to an end a way to make money and nothing else I get having bills to pay and being used to a certain lifestyle and all that but of you don't truly love what you do and only love what it can bring you you won't he happy that's soemthing I learned from experience and I tell ya having a job I don't absolutely hate and am happy with going to every day is just the best feeling in the world sure it's not 100% perfect but the pros outweigh the cons and IL takr this job right now over any other job I've had

A lot of subtitles were not translated and I couldn’t understand them as the story is tweaked in the animation than in the light novel. Just could guess what was going on based on the scenes.

Like, someone who understands Chinese explain why the subs are so different from what's being said? So much so that even someone whose only Chinese words are "chow" and "mein" can tell there's something off?
