I plan on reading more 80's fantasy. My parents discouraged me from reading fantasy as a kid. Now as an adult I feel like I'm playing catch-up.

I started reading Magician's Apprentice and I was immediately interested in Pug. Chosing was good indeed, though kind of different from Harry Potter at the same time.
Pug is an awesome protagonist and his initial struggle of his inability to learn magic made me curious to read what's going to happen next.
Thanks Durfee for an awesome recomendation.

I really appreciate that you review these older series, I’ve collected loads over the years but have not got round to reading them and you give me the push I need to give them a try x

Found these for the first time from a mention in a Witcher interview with Henry Cavill. My husband already owned the dog-eared paperbacks, so I dug in. The first book was ultimate escapism. I can’t believe that was Feist’s first book! The second book is getting a little deeper into the politics that I tend to struggle with in most epic fantasies. But, this review is getting me excited to continue on to the Empire books with Janny Wurt, which I hear are really great.

I picked up Magician on a whim at my library and instantly fell in love with his writing. Definitely one of my favourite authors.

Just finished Magician. Great book, 8/10. Only criticism I have is that most of the characters are a bit one dimensional. But I love the way Feist paces the story.

This series is my absolute number 1..the Fionavar Tapestry is number two..Guy Gabriel Kay is literally Tolkien for our generation ..but I gotta go for the Formula..Riftwar has it ALL..Jimmy The Hand...Zombies,,Farmboy /Orphan/Badass......Rothfuss is still trying to catch up(thank you Patrick)...Sanderson and Jordan are doing...okay..,Eddings followed decently..Feist Nailed it!

I remember waiting and buying the series as they came out from the Serpent War on. After binging the original series and the joint Empire series with Janny Wurts.
