Beautiful, Cy. I’ve used the gel pickling white for 3 years and never knew about wiping it off with mineral spirits on a rag. It actually makes a lot of sense. I’m using it tomorrow on a Santa, so I’ll try this out. Thanks, Cy.
I've been using it too and never have wiped it with mineral spirits. I know I've read the directions on the can before but apparently I didn't read them all....? Let me know how it works!
I tried it today on the Santa. To be honest I don’t think it was much different, but I think it’s because normally I remove it very quickly like wipe on wipe off. If I leave it on too long, the mineral spirits might be a good trick to use.
@@caspianofnarnia Good to know, think I'll just do it the way I've always been doing it too, instead of adding another step with the mineral spirits. 👍
Where do you get these patterns? Your work is wonderful I just got into scroll sawing after Christmas and I love it. Mainly only done fretwork but certainly want to try my hand at some intarsia. Really seems to bring the work to life
intarsia.com/products/i-14-butterfly-orca Here is a link. I try to leave links in the description box of the video to the pattern I am using. There are a lot of free patterns out there, this orca isnt a free one but Judy Gale Roberts has a few free patterns on her website. The link will take you to the orca pattern which is on her website and there you can find the free patterns too. 👍🙂
Hey Curt, I mainly get my wood in the Willamette Valley in Oregon, its about 100 miles or so from where I live now. There are a bunch of places with different wood types. I have ordered online from Cook woods and some others too. There is a wood club here locally and a member was selling boards of wenge so I bought them from him. Pretty sweet deal!
Hi Cy, it doesn't look right as it is, i think you should make a bit of sea so it is jumping out as they do, nice job on the sanding, I don't have the patience or grip in my hands to do that anymore.
I made some videos on how I do transfers without a laser. Transferring letters to wood: th-cam.com/video/wvaC49pjzmk/w-d-xo.html How did you put that on there? Love your video tutorials! Could you tell me the name of the large drum sander that you use.
Hello, it is a Woodtek pneumatic drum sander, but it is no longer made.
A similar one is this:

I tried to translate this and it wouldn't do it!
Wen-gay
Yep, heard it pronounced that way too. Have heard it many ways, "wen-gay" is the correct one probably, but maybe not! 😂
