    I like how the grain on the pine that forms the sky is graduated, giving the piece some forced perspective to create depth.

      that was my favorite 1st one I ever saw over 20 years ago that lighthouse, the man had a dining table he made Intarsia scene, have looked for it everywhere. got to where you are gluing the pieces together, what kind of glue? Good thing no one is YELLING MOM, MOM, MOM or other distractions/time stealers for attention with using those tools.

    You've done a masterful job of describing something I've been into for years, and very few people know about. It's a beautiful piece.
    I know how many hours go into making even a simple project, and you make it sound easy. That was not a simple project.
    The best part of the whole video was seeing you work in that gorgeous shop I've watched you build, sir.

      +Larry Aubry Thank you. It was a special project, beside being Renée's christmas gift it was the first "real" project I did in my new shop, So it will always have a special place in my heart.

    • @LgosseuxDbois-TheWoodpecker
      @LgosseuxDbois-TheWoodpecker  9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Dwight Souder While building the shop I gave myself a tendinitis in my left elbow. The Strap helps for the pain. But a year after I'm almost at 99% so I rarely uses the strap anymore, only when I'm scared that I'll hurt myself again...

    I noticed that some of the tools you used were on the rotating (Lazy Susan) tool stand in your old shop. Do you still have that rotating tool stand, or did you get rid of it? If so, was there problems with it? I was thinking of building one.

    • @LgosseuxDbois-TheWoodpecker
      @LgosseuxDbois-TheWoodpecker  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Rich Eklund I left it in my old shop to put stuff on it, I won't transfer it into my new shop for a couple of reason.
      It's big, in one corner of my old shop it was ok but I don't realy have space for it in my new setting.
      In a corner, things are always falling in the back, and it's almost impossible to get them after.
      If, like it was setup, you're having a lot of weight on it, It's becoming hard to turn.

    Why didn't you use the CNC machine to carve it?

    • @LgosseuxDbois-TheWoodpecker
      @LgosseuxDbois-TheWoodpecker  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Daniel Mcgann 2 reasons.
      1) it was done last december and I didn't had any CNC then
      2) I found that a hand made gift is even pricier than a machined one.
      So even this year I'm working on Renée's christmas gift without using my CNC other than signing it :)

    ın which format did you print this pattern a3 a2?

    • @LgosseuxDbois-TheWoodpecker
      @LgosseuxDbois-TheWoodpecker  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I've printed it with Matthias Wandel BigPrint program. You can find it at woodgears.ca
      I use this program every time I need to print something to its real dimension, it's very useful
      Each page were printed on letter paper 8½X11" but you can use any paper size, then you stick them together with scotch tape
      Have fun making intarsia, it's been a while since I made something in intarsia, but it's a lot of fun

    • @LgosseuxDbois-TheWoodpecker
      @LgosseuxDbois-TheWoodpecker  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm not sure if it was 4 or 6 pages. But with the diagonal aligning lines of BigPrint it's super easy to align the sheet

    This is one of the best woodworking videos I have seen. The reason I like it is the inclusion of all the mistakes made and how to adjust and accommodate them. I tried my hand at intarsia once and made many mistakes. Here is a picture of my dog I wanted to do.

    and here the pattern I made
    imgur.com/eZas23N
    but this is what I produced

      You're welcome. I always include almost all my mistakes, I think this helps other. Some say I'm a jerk and don't know what I'm doing, but I let them be. I wish I could see what they're doing... Nice outcome, I find person and animals are hard to reproduce, they always look strange at the end.
