@@tworiversprojects Avo looks more populated than Santa Ovaia. Santa Ovaia feels like most of the houses are vacant/abandoned. I would think that being in the valley is not only more damp in the winter but less breezy. The valley may have as much as a 2 week early frost date and a 2 week later frost free date. The home is lovely with lovely views however, Are there still sheep bells and lovely donkey friends? The video is lovely, Eileen. Thank you! I am glad you are looking at a well maintained property that has a great contribution in meeting your basic needs so that you can spend more energu with your passions for exploring beautiful sites, gardening & animals.
First: This woman is absolutely BEAUTIFUL! OK, that's out of the way. Secondly: It looks so peaceful there! I mean....wow! I'm wondering if she is actually looking for a place to stay or if she is just showing places that are available. Also, I was surprised at how well the real estate ladies spoke English. Is this common there? What is the cost of living compared to say, Mexico? And how much would a house like that cost there? I know these are a lot of questions, so I'll ask just this last one: when you live that far out, how do you get around (transportation wise) and where do you go for things like utilities, grocery, medical care, etc? I'm just discovering this channel today, so I apologize if some of these questions have already been addressed. Loving the show.
Oooh my, your comment has just popped up. But I will respond nevertheless. First all, thankyou 😊 I am doing both actually, but I am not in a rush myself, so now I am dedicating my time to show every one whats around here. A lot of real estate agents speak English indeed, since there is a big international market. I have no clue what the cost of living in Mexico is so I won't be able to compere. They where asking 100k euros for this house. If you live in place like these you do need a car, if you have a car supermarkets, farmacy etc are close by. A little late, but hope I have answerd you questions :)
Eileen awesome video as usual. So informative with the details that effect living conditions like the cloud cover causing damp,.... That water was soooo beautiful and clear and I looovved the tile in the bathroom too. Are you thinking of buying the house? If so great luck, i hope you get it. If not and you can tell us the price if you pass on it? Thanx for another great video.
Hello, thankyou! Its a lovely place isn't it? The house already got sold to somebody, I don't know for what price, but the asking price was €100,000. Glad to know that it is going to make someone very happy :)

Agree the 'praias fluviais' are much nicer, cleaner and less crowded. It's so funny, just found your posts. You speak perfect Portuguese but also have a strong Dutch accent when you speak your perfect English. Really, wish you luck and happiness my dear, X:)
Be aware because kids fill this small river beaches in the summer, they have their grandparents live in this small villages/cities, like when i was a kid in a small village outside Lamego i spent all my summer holidays (half of July, August and half of September) in my grandparents house. Every morning i helping my grandparents in the farm, but after lunch (always soup and fruit) we go to the river beaches with all the kids, i love to leave my Parents in Odivelas (close of Lisbon) and spent my summer holidays there, my cousins from Porto, Tavira always spent the summer there, my grandparents love their grandchildren, we help in the farm and go to forest or to the river beach in the afternoon... My first wife was a girl live in Lisbon and spent their summer holidays there to. Only when i start University i dont go anymore spent my summer there, i start in the summer go to Algarve (my uncle house) to win extra money lots of turists to help pay the tuition and the books i need. Já passei férias em Avô, o sítio é lindo com uma praia fluvial muito boa. A casa está boa, só precisa de ser aberta para secar e de uma pintura, exterior e interior, com boas tintas. Tudo depente do preço.
Ah, good to know that low lying fog adds a great deal of moisture to the valleys. That house has been maintained nicely for the most part and is certainly move-in ready with potential for more development on the ground floor.
Hi Eileen! Love your videos, keep it up! Im also from well "all over the world" currently living in Germany but hoping to make the move to Portugal in 2023. Looked at a few properties in Castelo Branco area but it is a bit too warm for me in the summer months. How is it over there where you are living?
Hi there, thankyou very much! Cool that you are planning on coming here, is Portugal also one of your roots? I have not been in Castelo Branco so I couldn’t say, maybe the Coimbra district is more for you? Good luck to you!
@@tworiversprojects Actually Portuguese is one of the few roots I don't have, but I love the people and the weather there. And thanks for the recommendation I will be sure to check Coimbra district as well. :) I know there is quite a "off-grid" community in the Castelo Branco region which for me is also important as it might get too lonely otherwise.
The whole country is pretty hot in the summer months. If you antecipate problems with too much heat, look for areas in the northwest, Minho region. Though hot in the summer, it has much more shade, it's lush green, not dried up as the center and south of the country.
What a beautiful valley! I liked the house and furniture. There is some good view but it is unfortunate that the other house is blocking much of it. Is the house heated? Could be very cold in winter if not. Thanks for taking us on the tour. 🙂 Alex
I'm glad you like it! And yes, if we could move that building it would be even better, but still some nice views. If I remember correctly the house has a fireplace in the kitchen. Thankyou for watching :)
I would like it if you went to the village of Múceres next to Campo de Besteiros. There is a strange and cheap property with an orange orchard. What is your opinion about it? It is sold by Terra dos Rios, so you could use your Dutch...

I have been following your channel and have been wondering about the properties you have been sharing online. I have a question indirectly related to the properties. How is the land in these hill stations? I asked because similar areas with similar climates and atmospheres here in our country, or I can say hill stations like these in my country, have a very big issue with landslides due to heavy rain and moisture in the soil, and this dampness in the soils and the atmosphere makes the whole house very damp, due to which paint hardly stays on the walls and the ceilings.
Hi there, we have had an abnormal amount of rain the last period which have caused a few landslide situations across the country. So that is something to take into account, although as I said, that is not really the norm here. Not all the houses in Portugal are wel insulated so moist can be an issue.
