    It looks like a mini swamp in there, pretty cool. 20-month old water and it still looks cleaner than some people's 1-week old fishbowl water.

    • @bullythebooks
      @bullythebooks 2 ปีที่แล้ว +34

      Not trying to be a dbag but that’s because there are no fish and a bunch of plants. Those fishbowls look awful because there are usually fish and no plants in a tiny area.

    • @Billy_The_Frog
      @Billy_The_Frog 2 ปีที่แล้ว +22

      @@bullythebooks yeah I agree, and that's exactly why I made this comment. This video just shows that if people want to properly maintain a vessel of water of this size, it's only suitable for a bioload this low with plenty of plants and not for bettas. Of course, I still don't recommend a vessel of this size for fishes even if theres plenty of plants.

    if those are pothos cuttings and they need to root still, put them bare root/stem in an open cup of plain sink water on a sunny windowsill (preferred off-light, not direct). Leave it there till roots show up, THEN plant. it's a very easy plant. Soak in water (absolutely drench it), maybe once a month or if it starts to look wilted and feel a bit soft. The rest of the time let it be dry. It encourages the plant to branch out and focus on vine/leaf growth while it also prevents moldy soil.
    And if it hasn't had a chance to scab after cutting it needs to be left out, bare root, clean, for like three days or so. An open wound on a plant after cutting is just like an open wound on us - it needs to scab to be protected, and the stem itself is poor at sucking up water. So pure water for rooting is best. No root serum or hormones needed. Cup + indirect sun + water = rooted cutting for non-succulent plants.
    For succulent plants just leave em in the open so they scab, wait for roots at the wound, shove the root end in some wet dirt.
    AVOID fertilizers until the plants have been rooted in dirt for about a month. In my experience it can actually be a bit strong for the baby roots and 'burn' the plant. If you dilute it until it's almost not there it could be safe but it's also a bit pointless. Fresh soil that's aerated with about 20% perlite or similar which is largely comprised of 50% coir and 30% topsoil is perfectly nutritious for the first month of a new pothos's potted life, at the least. I see roots in 1-2 weeks this way.

    • @RioCahyadiDrayka
      @RioCahyadiDrayka 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Not to mention if those Photos cutting have been in soil before, it might take some time to adapt and root to grow. 3 week ago, i cut some Photos in my local hospital garden (i went there to get second shot of vaccine). They are in very dry hanging pot with direct sunlight there, a very contrasting condition where it's new home gonna be. I want to grow it on my outdoor Betta "pond" that under the shade. It take ±9 days for me to see the new root grow, but after that initial struggle, it's a smooth sailing from there. I got new leaf growing as we speak and 3 long root (one is extra long and the other 2 is half the length of it).

    Suggestion for the small cube: emerse floating island planting.
    I'm going to be doing something similar with my 1.5g cube but essentially its a floating island with Java "ferns" under the water that grow out and down. (Maybe with some sußwassertang for some variety) then above the water line a small maidenhair fern planted to grow above the water, and some other accent plants. Sort of like a floating kusamono. I had my brother 3d print a small basket to use as the base that holds it all together.
    This also makes it super easy to clean the tank since all the plants are in/on the island, you can just lift it out, wipe down the sides, and put it back. Great for small cubes. Then the bottom can just be bare, or perhaps some sand and a few strategically placed gravel pieces.

    So the key to getting the pothos take your first need roots on them. Then I suggest giving them full sun light, plenty of water, and some indoor plant liquid Miracle-Gro, comes in a pump bottle would so help pothos. It's a very for giving plant for the most part. You're more exotic pothos not so much.

    Needs a mini water pump for livestock like shrimp. That's why his activity level slowly reduced to 0. There can't be enough dissolved oxygen for animals without any circulation. If you do this again consider using a 3 watt water pump or at the bare minimum a water change every couple of days. I have a similar setup and have previously disconnected my water pump and noticed the shrimp did not like it.

    Could possibly have a big enough ecosphere for fish to live in? Like a giant isolated pond?

    For that rimless cube how about growing a really tall plant out the top like double or triple the height so the cube looks like a scaped pot for it? Maybe that sad sad pothos will grow big and tall from out the top of the cube?

    Wondering if you could have actually placed a bit of algae in the jar at the begining to start growing and supply Sven (rip) with food.
    Looking forward to seeing this nano tank setup! Great shots!
